I usually order a simple large pepperoni pizza. ~$20.00 with tax. The seasoning is usually a solid 4 out of 4 stars, but can occasionally be a "miss" or inconsistent. Every state has its local chains you gotta try, and Dion's is one of those over here in New Mexico. For those of you who are from out of state, New Mexico is known for the hatch chili pepper, and dions has not only hatch chili pizza but also hatch chili ranch. The ranch is so good that they even sell you full size bottles of it if you want to take some home for future meals at the house. It's a must try. The pizza itself is cheesy, and the crust is thin, the toppings are all really good, I honestly have no complaints about the pizza itself. The hatch chili ranch is sooooo good, it has that perfect creamy zesty flavor along with a kick from the chili. It's a perfect condiment, I even use it on my salads at home sometimes. The ambiance is that of a pizza place, no frills, but not a bad place to sit down and eat. The service here is fast , friendly, and accurate. Even though the parking lot was full, someone took my order almost immediately, as they had multiple cashiers working side by side. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations like the walnut brownie which is absolutely delightful and one of the best brownies I've had here in New Mexico. I spent some time in their drive through at first because I didn't realize that it's meant to just be for pre orders. So pro tip, you can't place an order at the drive through, you have to order in advance and the drive through is just an alternative to coming inside to pick it up. read more

Well. Always has been great but yesterday I had a bad experience. Ordered two large pizzas on site for takeaway. They gave us two boxes and we drove home. Much to our surprise, there were 2 halves distributed en 2 boxes. Drove back and were told that they had run out of large boxes and found the other pizza stranded amongst orders. I'm so very serious about my extra ice on ice tea. Especially since it's poured not cold to begin with and if you don't have extra ice you just end up getting room temperature tea and not ice tea. I asked my parents for subway and they decided to get me a sandwich from Dion's so they can eat pizza (which is very good I would recommend) I just wanted a turkey and Swiss. First bite I took i thought I had covid it was so weird tasting. Looking under the turkey and Swiss I see that it has onions and green chili on the bottom. Tuscany (herby pesto, sweet sun-dried tomatoes, provolone, big quarters of vinegary artichoke hearts, slightly crunchy pine nuts) is super unique and the light use of cheese lets the toppings shine. Their house ranch dressing is delicious on salad or as a pizza dipping sauce. First of all if you're coming through Albuquerque this is a must stop. I have been trying to keep a diet but these pizzas are to die for. On Sunday, I went in and got a medium 505 pizza with extra pepperoni it was superb. Second, the customer service was absolutely amazing! This young man Cash gave me the largest smile and took care of me from register to the final counter. He happily handed me extra napkins and water cups for my 4 little critters. My husband and I have been coming to this particular Dion's for years, not only because it's close to where we live, but mostly because of how friendly the staff has always been and continues to be. Unfortunately, we feel the management has really dropped the ball as of late, concerning what they will allow to take place inside their restaurant. Because for the last few months, we have seen, on multiple occasions, large Bible study groups openly preaching, sermonizing, and demonizing "sinners" in the community. Now then, as a married gay couple, my husband and I take great offense at Dion's allowing this kind of blatant disregard for the general public at large to continue. And considering that many of your employees identify as LGBTQ+, this might also bother them as well. After all, would you allow Jewish people to come in and light menorahs? Or druids to come in chanting and worshiping trees? Or Buddhists to light incense and ring bells? I think not. So why then is a blind eye turned toward those who practice Christianity? Albuquerque has always been an inclusive city, where everyone is free to worship (or not) as he or she sees fit, and they are respected for it. Alright...I give up!! So, for many years, I've always thought this pie was just 'ok". Nothing great...but, but...I have to be honest, I feel like I need to give Dion's an official public apology. So, I've had Dion's 3 times now, in the past three months. Not by my own choosing, but it has been brought in for some various group events I had been attending. Yesterday however pretty much sealed the deal for me so now, I feel compelled to upgrade their rating to 4 STARS! So let me explain. WE were doing a training at a small little technology company here in town...let's just say it starts with an "H" and ends with a "P". Anyway, we ordered in 10-12 pies...we had a lot of hungry mouths to feed. One of my colleagues who was visiting from yes, New York, another pie snob like myself, had never had Dion's. AS the pies were being brought in, I thought that I should warn him that these are just "ok" pies, certainly not like what we've been spoiled on back east. Whelp, Yelp, I stand corrected! After letting our guest grab their slices, we moseied (SP?) on over and grab a few slices ourselves. lol..yep, you guessed it, the pie Rocked. I am absolutely dumbfounded. I sincerely don't remember it being this good. My Colleague gave it the official, "Holy Crap this is good pie". Yes, he gave it a "Holy Crap" rating...which is an "11" back east, in case y'all were wondering. So, in short I want to publically apologize to Dion's, the brothers, and anyone else I may have offended over the past 8 years whilst diss'en on this delicious pizza. Our pie yesterday had a great chew to the dough, the sauce was perfect and the toppings also worked with rather than against the pie itself. Bravo, well done. Side Note - I don't know if each store is different or just perhaps a few are better than others, but the pie we had yesterday came from the store way up off of Unser and Southern. Today at Dion's I ordered the Italian 6 inch sub. It was not the best Italian Sub I ever had however it was decent. I feel it needs some kind of spread on the bread because its a little on the dry side. Overall, my lunch experience was great. Love the food. I've yet to have a bad tasting experience or whatever HOWEVER. My orders are always getting messed. Except today, my order either wasn't made AT ALL or gave it to someone else!! I had to wait an extra 15 minutes while they rushed it, sitting outside in my car. I called ahead of time to place the order, was told it would be ready in 20, come by 20 minutes later to get told "we can't find your order"?!?! Previous times, they gave me pizzas with the wrong toppings! Management either has to retrain staff or hire compatible that can handle a very fast paced environment. This is unacceptable and even though I crazy it often, I DREAD ordering because I know it will get messed up!! Update: I got in contact with Jorge Garcia and I would like to say that he was very kind and professional and I truly appreciate that. I hope things at that location are looked into and worked out. Westside soul food! Er, so one might assume walking through the doors on a typical Friday night, if you can even make it through the doors, that is. Dion's is such a New Mexican favorite the fast-casual line sometimes stretches to the sidewalk, people be jonesin' for a slice and some ranch so badly. (BTW, they just hooked an entirely new generation of junkies with their green chile ranch, it's a brilliant move, and bravo on taking the mild heat risk, guys.) This location, in particular, is a crowd favorite. Personally, I'm more of a sandwich and salad fan of this brand. I'll order a full chicken Ceasar (I've been known to devour family size), I also drown the ranch salad in Greek dressing (and buy a bottle for the fridge), and life's always peachy with an Italian sub. My only gripe -- and I'm sure this is one reason the prices are so reasonable -- concerns packaging. Literally everything that goes out, aside from the serving tray, gets thrown away, even when you're ordering in-house. At a minimum, the company could print "Please recycle this lid" on the pizza box covers and, getting more involved, the salad bowls, paper plates, utensils and drink cups could be recycled or constructed of compostable materials. It would greatly lighten my conscience after I stuff myself silly. read more
