First visit to Hops & Dough taproom - when we got there, there were a few tables already taken, but still good amount of room to spare. We were greeted right away and offered water or our choice of beverage. Our waiter was awesome and offered suggestions based on what we said we liked. As we waited we were able to enjoy music since it wasn't too loud in there. After our drinks were delivered, we were finally ready to order. Our appetizer came out quickly and very hot. Made perfectly as described. The fried pickles were sour but the salty (but not overly so) breading just added to the amazing taste! The mozzarella sticks were big and had an awesome cheese pull to them! IYKYK We also decided to share wings and a pizza! The wings were huge and flavorful. The pizza had a nice crisp crust and was packed with toppings! We will definitely be back to try more off the menu!

The servers and owner were extremely nice and welcoming to us! Food was great. The only reason for the 3 stars is that service was slow. I believe there was only one cook and one server in the whole restaurant.

After a nice rain sitting outside was amazing! A pear cider and an IPA.

After one of the few good rains we got here in Abq, it was nice sitting outside enjoying the fresh air! Nothing beats that besides a nice cold cider and beer! Pizzas were outstanding as well, didn't get a picture before we inhaled them. Will definitely go back!

My husband and I were looking to try another rendition of the Monte Cristo last week since it's our favorite and I had heard that Hops & Dough had a good one so we ventured right in to go try it. When we arrived we were immediately greeted and prompted to seat anywhere we liked. We started by ordering the Chips Trio which at first I was unsure if I liked it or not but with every bite I took it grew on me. I think that the very different flavors that are in these 3 items just took my taste buds by surprise but it actually was quite good and I enjoyed it. I ordered the Holy 505 and my husband ordered the Monte Cristo of course - literally the reason we came. I forgot to take a photo of my hamburger and the "original" Monte Cristo that came to the table - my bad. My burger was HUGE. It was on Texas Toast and you know that saying that "everything is bigger in Texas" really is no joke and neither was this Monster of a burger. It was very juicy and so filing and the fries along side had a delightful crunch and taste. As per my husband's Monte Cristo there was a little bit of a hiccup on his first one - where the outside of the sandwich was soggy and not crispy but the kitchen took full responsibility mentioning that it was breaded wrongly but that they were more than happy to remake it - which they did and that's where the photo below comes in where it doesn't show the fries next to it. The New Monte Cristo was EVERYTHING we had been craving and wanting and lived up to the hype that people had been creating. The crust on the outside had that wonderful crunch while still being light and airy and absolutely Scrumptious. I'm glad that my husband decided to say something about his 1st Monte Cristo or else we would have NOT been able to experience what the hype was all about and I do have to say that it was quite enjoyable. Thank you to the kitchen for acknowledging this mishap and quickly rectifying the situation by remaking the sandwich with a smile on their face. We will definitely come check them out again. Wonderful service

Great bar. Nice patrons. Bar staff... what can I say? I haven't had a bar tender have such pointedly strong skills. To say he had me like a deer in headlights! Attentive, knowledgeable and funny!!! 2 bright stars for him!!!! Great food and comfy corner bar feel!

We were exited to try something different on our side of town. We enjoyed the live music, but the service really let us down. We ordered a single pizza to share, and it took almost an hour to get it. Keep in mind, we didn't see a single pizza at any other table, nor did we see anyone making pizzas. From the time we ordered, one guy finished his drink, another guy came in and took his place, ordered his wings, and ate his entire order before we got our pizza. When the waitress finally brought it, we asked for some ranch. When we had a single slice left, she let us know she forgot and we told her we didn't need it anymore. The pizza was good (cold, but good), great beer selection, we were just let down by the service.

The pizza is really good and so are the chicken wings. We tried the chili fries and they were very good also. They have great options on beer. The music is a bit way too loud they have karaoke and good local singers and bands. But because it so loud it's not always nice listening to it. But the food is really good.

Nothing has changed really inside it's pretty much the same. That's a good thing in my view. So for ambience I give four stars. The inside is attractive with a lot of windows. Outside there's a nice patio which would be great to sit at if the wind is not too bad. For service, I give four stars. Service is on pretentious and just down to earth. I think some of the people that used to be there at boxing baee are still there. If you are a younger soul who likes to play arcade games there are several there. Again, they were there when boxing bear was there. So for me the reason I give four stars is because this is a wonderful place to just come and be with friends. There is no high pressure to purchase expensive entrees or drink excessively. That is what I love about this place. As far as the kitchen and food goes, it's pretty humble. I would call this authentic lowdown tacos and burritos and nachos which is equivalent to pub food. My disappointment with the menu is that there are no really interesting options such as enchiladas. I'm an enchilada girl I admit it.. so I did not actually get any food although all of my friends did. I also don't drink alcohol any longer so my favorite beverage which is an athletic IPA was available in a can and I was very happy for that. All in all, if you like humble easy inexpensive tacos burritos nachos pub food go for that. If you're looking for a place to hang out with some friends and have an easy conversation without too much overhead noise from music or TVs do that. This location is really good for groups who want to hang out. I would suggest to management that they consider putting some music meaning live bands on the schedule here and there. This location is also appropriate for music bingo, karaoke, and trivia along with live band performances. Or even just have solo guitar players come in. I love this place before I still love it. I'll be back.

What a fun new place! (New for me!)…read more The burrito was a whopper, and the tacos we got were filling as well. Loved the brownie dessert and the mango guava agua Fresca too! All in all, great meal and a great price. Two drinks, two dinners and a dessert for $48 before top.

We read a lengthy glowing review of La Reforma in a recent ABQ Journal issue and had high hopes of…read morefinding something similar to the tacos we used to get in and near Cuernavaca, Morelos where we lived 2008-13. Sadly, we found kind of a mixed bag. First, the standout items. The margaritas were fantastic; some of the best we've had in the USA and extremely generous. The pinto bean sides were some of the best we've had since returning to the States in 2013. Perhaps not quite as great as those of the shuttered El Cotorro but still stellar. Next, the tacos. We tried only two of the several tacos on offer - The El Pastor and the Pescado. Both were served in what was called "corn tortillas" but these differed from virtually any corn tortillas we've ever had in Mexico or elsewhere. They were at least twice as thick as your typical corn tortilla found in just about all Mexican taco places in Mexico and elsewhere. The consistency and taste were quite different from your normal corn tortilla also. In fact, they really didn't seem to have much taste at all, of corn or anything else. Now to the fillings. At the aforementioned El Cotorro, the meat for the Al Pastor tacos was cooked on a vertical rotating spit which was the only way we ever saw it cooked in Mexico. The meat La Reforma used in their al pastor tacos was more chunky and way drier than any we ever had in Mexico or at El Cotorro. It didn't taste similar to any al pastor tacos were ever had in Mexico. It also kind of seemed like it wasn't cooked recently whereas in Mexico you can watch the cook with a large knife carve off the meat from the vertical spit right in front of you. Usually the time between the carving and it sitting in front of you is under 10 seconds. The fish taco at La Reforma was disappointing. The fish resembled a fish stick but one without much flavor. We wouldn't order it again. We gave the mini-churros a try for dessert. Because they were so small, they were way crispier than your typical regular-sized churro. We might return but we'd skip the al pastor and the fish tacos and try some of the other tacos. But we strongly suggest that they dump their current "corn tortillas" because they're not that good. Way too thick and virtually tasteless. Lo siento. Kudos for the margaritas and the beans. The rest of what we tried didn't live up to the recent glowing review in the ABQ Journal.
