They share a kitchen with Cali Chilli. We ordered takeout and the ordering process was easy but I messaged them and left a VM after I got my food due to an issue and never heard back! I ordered $50 worth of breakfast and part of the order was the chocolate chip pancakes. They were garnished with nuts/seeds. Why? Why weren't they mentioned in the description? My daughter has a deadly nut/seed allergy! You MUST disclose this. I was very disappointed that there was no way to contact a live person. I was also disappointed by most of the food. The chicken was good. Please fix your menu descriptions asap! read more

Food was good had the salmon Benedict everyone raves about and cup of coffee. Pops just had sourdough toast and service was prompt and good.

I want to be fair with this review as I have been to Pancake in LB several times (unfortunately today will be the last). My previous ~5 experiences have been relatively good. Breakfast is a solid "B". The reason I tend to like Pancake is due to it not being busy and I have young kids and the food is good (not great, but good). With that said, I had the worst experience on 1/4/25 at 8:00am. We were the only 4 people in the restaurant. We ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down, all simple things, breakfast burrito, two eggs, and pancakes. After 45 minutes the food was still not out, never-mind we were still the only people in the restaurant. I went up to the waitress and nicely asked to put it in a to-go box as it was taking forever and my 1 and 2 yr old were getting very impatient. The food finally came out after almost one hour. At this point there was only one other group of four in the restaurant. If I were a restaurant owner and this happened, I would at a minimum say "sorry for the wait" and maybe even credit one of the meals, potentially credit everything. It was so uncomfortable and unfortunate bc nothing was done on the restaurant's behalf to apologize. Instead I got a bag of food (which I paid for) to take home and reheat in the microwave. As far as the food today, you can judge by the pictures, chocolate chip pancakes were very underwhelming (given the name of the restaurant is PANCAKE), eggs were extremely overcooked, fruit was mediocre at best. The breakfast burrito was good. I probably won't return here for the simple fact they didn't take accountability for what happened today. A manager should have noticed (given we were 1 of 2 tables in the entire restaurant) and should have done something. In all fairness the waitress was nice, I don't think it was her fault but someone really messed up this morning. I would recommend giving this place a shot and judge for yourself. Hopefully you have a better experience similar to the other times I have been here. read more

The amount of times my dad said "this is so good ‍"!! BUT TRULY IT REALLY IS! The food is made to order & you can really tell that the chef really took his sweet time to cook & plate our meal! I swear you could taste that everything was made with love. The place feels like fine dining, the bar area is so lovely with the gold accents! Omg I honestly wanna gatekeep... but this place is so nice not to share! It's only open though from 7:30-11am. It's because it turns into an Indian cuisine restaurant for lunch & dinner. Anyways, the price points... LET ME TELL YOU. Basing how delicious our food was & the amount served on our plate? PERFECTION. Like my bug burrito was only $8 guys... it was perfectly packed & the tortilla was crisp. The red velvet magically arranged waffles? $10!!! FRESHLY SQUEEZED OJ? $6 Literally say no more read more

It is 4 stars only because the wait was a bit much but the food was amazing. Will be glad to revisit the score later on as they get better at this. They just opened up so 4 star already is amazing. When we rolled up we honestly thought it was closed lol. I didn't even know if I was in the right place but going in, we were greeted right away and seated. There was only 1 other party there eating and another party drinking so we didn't think it would take long. Unfortunately it did but they are still in the learning phase so it is completely understandable. Looking at the picture of the waffle that I provided, you can clearly see the quality of food that they are providing here. Everything we tried was amazing. The biscuits and gravy was some of the best I have had in a while. I am going to go back again this weekend to try more of their menu just because I can't wait to see what the chef has in store for their take on breakfast. read more

Weird Went for breakfast. Clearly has an identity crisis with two signs. Felt like a nighttime restaurant, lights and smells...even early in the morning. A bit pricey for the sides since they were not included. Glad I tried it. Although food was well served, would not return with the amount of choices in Long Beach. read more

Hands down, my favorite biscuits and gravy ever! The gravy was so flavorful with chunks of sausage and parsley enveloped in buttermilk gravy that blanketed the biscuits on my plate so elegantly that no wonder this is a restaurant of a Michelin star chef! We came here on Valentine's day, 2/14/2025, around 9 am and we were happy to be the first customers of the day. The place was so romantic, beautifully decorated for Valentine's with helium filled heart shaped metallic balloons that covered the ceiling and provided the ambiance of love and romance. Our server was excellent, she managed the customers as well as the decorations with a fantastic smile and poise. My husband had the salmon eggs benedict and we shared the chocolate chip pancakes. Though this place is called Pancake during its breakfast hours, at night it is Cali Chilli, a fusion of Indian and South Asian food. The pancakes were light, airy, and fluffy; very soft yet not much to my liking (half a star off) because I prefer my pancakes with a little more crispy edges to hold up to the syrup; I was more of a fan of the biscuits and gravy. Parking is free, however it can get packed on Viking Way, which has a small strip of parking spaces (quarter star off). The restrooms were clean, there were 2 non-gender specific at the back past the kitchen. The kitchen looked small and had at least 2 cooks preparing the food. The service did get a little slow due to there only being one server who was also the hostess (quarter star off), but she was so nice and welcoming. So if you want to try a local breakfast spot in the Long Beach area that is in a safe area and has reasonable prices, then go to Pancake and enjoy your first meal of the day! read more

Do not get the blueberry pancakes!! Horrible aftertaste, did not like at all. They still charged me for them though.

Went here with my childhood best friend. We grew up in the Lakewood area and never check out the places fairly close to us. Glad to say that we tried pancake - Long Beach for the first time and it was delicious. Definitely a local gem. I'd recommend trying if you're in the Lakewood/Long Beach area. Fairly priced and delicious food . We got a lot of food for very cheap. read more

I really tried liking this place a lot. The 3 star is really because the food was actually pretty good. Maybe needs a bit more upgrading in terms of options but for what they have its actually well made. The service was fine, nothing special, the waitress was helpful and even given a "taste test" option for one of their new items. They are looking to change their sausage option basically and the new option definitely tasted better. The ambiance is a bit confusing I will say, it has a full bar, yes like full full bar but they serve no alcohol so I have to believe at night this place turns into a bar? maybe? So, maybe in a crunch you can stop by here but wasn't a place where I felt I would return to soon. read more

Not for me. Ordered basic scrambled eggs and bacon. Eggs are a soft scramble and actually made me nauseated trying to eat. (Imagine texture of mousse but eggs). Potatoes, burnt and salty. You only get one slice of toast. Other person in party describes their pancakes as having an "interesting texture". Service-took a while to get juice and coffee. It is freshly squeezed but you would expect them to be prepared given it being 830am on a Saturday morning. Has more of a bar vibe, which evenings may have a better experience to offer. read more

It was our first time here and it was okay. Service was very slow and the best part of the brunch was their coffee! If you love strong coffee this was amazing!!!! Food was not that great but I episode be willing to give it another try to see if we can check out other menu options. read more

I only write reviews when I'm super moved. Had the smoked salmon Benedict and was so pleased. The hollandaise was light and flavorful. Paired so well with the bacon wrapped asparagus. This is a hidden gem! We came across it on Yelp, but must admit we went in circles and almost gave up but ultimately found it. And I'm so glad we did. The food was amazing! I ordered the waffles and although the menu didn't say whether there was chocolate drizzle the host said they could add it. So nice! And so helpful. He was very friendly and came back with more coffee. The location had a hip vibe to it. And bar area ready for those looking for cocktail. Don't give up on this place. Visit a must! read more

This is a good to restaurant for breakfast along with its lunch alter ego called Cali Chili. For breakfast their eggs Benedict with prosciutto is very good. It's served with bacon wrapped asparagus which is very yummy. I tried the chicken and waffles, that was so so. Nice atmosphere and the service is friendly. read more

At first we could not find this place, they didnt put the signs out so we had to call. Its in the Cali Chilli restaurant. So what I'm thinking they're pancake in the morning and then they switch it up during lunch and dinner? Which is actually brilliant. The avocado toast was delish! Hint of sweetness and the bread was not getting soggy. The chicken and waffles were ok, the chicken had a lot of breading. But the plating was really pretty. I like their bar area too and their seating is really nice as well. read more

Ambiance is that of an intimate, food is fresh, prices are reasonable, service is quick. Would definitely recommend!

well food was good, service was marginal. no one was in the restaurant when we got there around 9:30 on Wednesday. Pancake is in the space for Cali Chili which we have always had good luck with service and food. it took a very time for someone to greet us. There were only a few employees. we were told the chef was working on one order then they could do ours. way to long! our server didn't come back to check on us which is just the opposite of CaliChili in the evening. Not sure if we will be back although the food was good. Service in the morning needs to be tight and organized. I will speak with the CaliChili crew to fill them in. Then maybe try again read more

Decor - bar atmosphere with a small dining area attached. Tiffany retro dining. Food - really good. The salmon and toast concoction had me wishing their wait staff was better. Dill, lemon and cream cheese goodness. Blueberry pancakes needed more compote and the syrup was a standard emulsified maple and butter. Pancakes alone were a bit dry with a Blueberry essence throughout. Eggs were creamy with a standard bacon and hashy b. Wait staff/host - we stood by the door with several empty seats. We waited for about 2 minutes looking at a bartender and waitress conversing. The busser was busy but at least made eye contact. We moved in and the waitress acknowledged our existence. We sat and were relegated to being ignored most of our meal. We watched as the lone waitress was on her phone in the pass and we missing a place setting, and condiments. She lumbered and huffed when we notified her that the busser was made aware of our disposition and had to retrieve our missing items. We watched as she waddled over to the bar area and spoke with the bartender, taking her time to retrieve a place setting for my wife to eat. The busser should be promoted as she moved with conviction and understanding. This review would have been a 4.5 if it weren't for the lone waitress sloshing around, more occupied with her phone than retrieving what's needed for a paying customer. read more

I was recommended to this restaurant from my son. I am glad I listened to him. The reasons why I give 5 stars is because Alaskan smoked salmon benefits and the special weekend breakfast are delicious. The services are prompted. The atmosphere is very well decorated for a Valentine's Day celebration and it's quiet. You can't go wrong with whatever you order, everything's delicious. My boyfriend and I were the first one to the restaurant and it gets filled up quickly. read more

It shares the restaurant and kitchen with Cali Chillli so I was confused finding jt. Inside is a lot cuter than the facade on the outside. The food was amazing, delish, fresh. Service was very friendly, no line at 8:30am on a Friday. They could use a general sweep ip of crumbs off the tables, banquette and floors. Seriously delish. read more

Great spot that is easy to miss. This is an Indian restaurant that happens to have an excellent breakfast. The owner is usually there working behind the bar. The food is better than you expect and the portions are huge. Great spot, don't sleep on this one. read more

The establishment is nice and inviting. The sign in front hasn't been updated. There were plenty of parking options in front and around the area. I ordered the strawberry and banana Blintzes. What was supposed to be a Blintz turned out to be just a strawberry & banana crepe mini burritos! There's one MAJOR creamy ingredient missing for this to be a Blintz. If you know Blintzes, you know what I'm referring to. I was looking forward to it but was disappointed. I can't speak of any other dish since this was my first time there. The place is nice, and I honestly hope it does well. My dish just didn't meet my expectations. I'll be back. read more

Decided to give this place a try. Was confused at first, apparently it's an Indian restaurant for lunch and dinner so if you are not into Indian food - the smell from the Indian dishes linger , there's outdoor seating. I was fine with, when first walked in, it was dim (they did just open). Eventually they turned on the lights. My sister ordered the biscuits and gravy, this is her make or break it breakfast dish. I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were delicious. The Cali ABC was nice blend. The prices are very reasonable. Will definitely try their pancakes next time read more

The pancakes were super fluffy and fresh, not dry at all. Really good flavor and portion size. I'd for sure order this again.

This breakfast place becomes a different restaurant after 11:00 AM. Service is courteous, but slow so don't expect a quick meal. (That is why 4 stars). The decor isn't typical for a breakfast place but comfortable. The place is small about 7 indoor tables, outdoor tables, and the bar. No decaf coffee, fortunately I bring some instant. Fresh squeezed orange juice and my husband enjoyed the regular coffee. He had the blueberry pancakes with compote on top and inside the cakes. Be careful if you have nut allergies because the garnish is nuts and seeds. Isn't included in the dish's description. My cheese egg scramble on toast with roasted potatoes (the best ever) and crispy and salty bacon was delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

We had a truly disappointing experience. We were seated at a booth that was full of crumbs, we had to dust off the seats ourselves. After that, we sat for 25 minutes with only water served. No one came to take our order until we finally flagged someone down ourselves. When we told the waitress how long we had been waiting, she informed us the kitchen was behind and we'd need to wait another 20-30 minutes for food. At that point, we left without ordering.Between the unclean seating, the lack of service, and the poor communication, this was an extremely frustrating and unacceptable experience. We won't be returning. Really sad read more

Well this place came up on my search for breakfast this morning. Well I was surprised... it is actually an Indian food Restaurant that just started to serve breakfast. (Odd huh) Well, I walked in here just to make sure it was breakfast and it was. It definitely smells like I'm about to have Indian food but we still gave it a try. Katelyn immediately greeted us and Informed me they had just partnered up with a breakfast company and have about 2 weeks doing breakfast. There was just one table inside occupied. We sat down. (It great to sit quickly when you have a toddler) our order was taken by Katelyn. We had a cup of coffee, orange juice (FRESHLY SQUEEZED) AMAZING , a coke and we all got water! Service was great by the two waitresses there. Very nice and communicative. Food we ordered -French toast (better than expected) great portion for one person!! -breakfast burger with fries huge and really good according to the hubby (asked for egg on the side) Overall it was good food with good flavor... a big plus on the coffee yes it was just a house made coffee but it was good! I gave it 3 stars not because of flavor or service but because we waited a long time for our drinks.... As well as our food. I understand they just started doing breakfast but they only had two tables mine and a different guest. I would understand a bit of a wait if they where completely packed. We will be back and I hope it's just a faster service. Definitely trying a different dish when I go back. Try it out ... don't get discouraged when going into the place... I know it's fairly dark for breakfast place but let me know what are your thoughts!!! Thank you Katelyn and the other you g lady for a pleasant visit!! read more
