I found this place on Yelp when working in Bend. It's tucked away and part of a little motel. But don't let that deceive you. It is heavily trafficked cafe with fresh food! I met the owner and he explained how he uses the motel to help people. It made me want to frequent this café even more. Ive gone back several times and always order the Mediterranean scramble with a side of fruit. The fruit is not the canned fruit you would expect, but fresh strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. The scramble is fresh with spinach and olives and onions, etc. It makes me so happy to be able to eat such fresh ingredients and know that the owner is helping people. I'm going to go back every time I work in Bend. Kudos to serving a beautiful meal and serving your community!!!!! read more

I had higher expectations- the biscuits and gravy was good, I liked the gravy a lot- the biscuit was kinda dry. My son had an omelette, he said it was good. The portion sizes are typical, nothing to comment on. The service was ok, we weren't totally ignored but service was slow, I thought we were forgotten about a few times. i can only suggest you look at pictures of "Breakfasts Past" and certainly not from me. My weakness for gobbling down good food got the better of me. For shame. The weak coffee was their Achilles heel. It tasted like brown water. But they kept it coming! Then there were the 10% discount coupons for "next time". Mr. B said we're coming back, especially after he ate. He would not allow me to donate them to the locals. It has a divey outside, and is associated with an even more so divey, sad motel by the same name. And the parking was horrid. But then.... Homemade corned beef hash, very nice. I ordered a side, and absconded with one of Mr. B's two eggs and a bit of his great hash browns. Mr B's sirloin steak from grass fed beef from a local Willamette Valley Ranch named Childers Meat Co. There was one slight misstep...over cooking the steak. But the waitress sent it back and the 2nd time was a charm. The steak was perfectly med rare with very special flavor that Mr. B has been moaning over, ever since. And then there were the wonderful biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was as large as a mini loaf but obviously homemade and light. And I suggest you put their wonderful sausage gravy on everything you can lay your hands on, except the orange slice. Could have been a 4 star experience. Time In-9:50am Time Out-11:30am Total- 1 hour 50 mins. almost 2 hours. I don't know about you, but that is way to long to be at a breakfast place. I mean, I could see if you were in deep conversation with friends..but this was not the case here. I really felt like a was a hostage.. Waiter said, "sorry, but we have a party of 8 that ordered right before you". The one meal I hate waiting a lifetime for is breakfast. I just want to drink my 2-3 cups of coffee, eat and bounce. The food was pretty good. I had the breakfast burrito with egg, home made rustic potatoes, cheese and ground beef. Seriously it could fed two people, easily. I was starving after a late night show with my band, and I still couldn't finish it...not even close. All and All, worth the visit, huge portions, share options, but, it took a long time. Whoever says food quality is exceptional needs to lay of the crack pipe. The gravy Benedict was a contradiction in and of itself. Dry biscuits, tasteless gravy, raw bacon, and eggs wasn't good. The Benedict wasn't a ticket to flavor town either. The French toast topped with berries and whipped cream and the pancakes were really good. The service was good and the nostalgia of a neighborhood diner are great. It was our first time here. I'd go next door to Rocking Dave's for better food, but if I wanted pancakes and sit down cafe I'd revisit this place. read more

What this restaurant is: A local cafe with good food and charm. The service is always good and friendly. There are lots of tables and if you come early you'll have no wait. Limited parking so their parking lot may fill up before the cafe does, but there is more parking nearby. Coffee is good and the wait for the food isn't long at all. The prices are typical for Bend $10-$15 and they now serve some alcoholic beverages like Bloody Mary's and mimosas. What this cafe is not: a fancy, touristy or trendy restaurant. I haven't been to Palmer's in over 20 years. We decided to give it a go after the culmination of the year long remodeling project. The Bloody Mary was the redeeming factor, it was well made and and had nice olives. The eggs Benedict was definitely subpar. The hollandaise was super tangy and the English muffin also tasted off. We have such great bread options in Bend, why not source the muffins locally? It would completely up the game. The potatoes were boiled and thrown on the griddle haphazardly, flavorless and cold. My person had the country fried steak, which was also cold and disappointing. Needless to say the experience was incredibly underwhelming, even with the pleasant and attentive waitress. I'm loving the Bend vibe here! Haven't been in? What's wrong with your? I'm kicking myself for not visiting sooner. The staff are sweet and fast-fast-fast! The food is fantastic and abundant. We were stuffed from delightful pancakes and fruit. The remodel is darling and so clean! Love it! Ok, I have to add... these folks use legit fabric napkins. Awww. Parking can be tight so consider a slight walk from there nearby parking lots. Don't dawdle; this place has them lining up in the morning. Get in early. I had the honor of visiting with the owner. He is a gem! He has overcome great adversity. His attached hotel is only available to those needing urgent care at the hospital and he provides this for no charge. This is what Bend is about. Glad we came back!! We use to love Palmers but stopped going when the new guy from Palm Springs took over the restaurant a couple years ago. That fool is gone and Dave is running the restaurant himself now and has brought back the best of the older cooks to get it right again. Service was great. Friendly and helpful. Food was great as well. Omelet with stuffing falling out. Gravy that actually has flavor. Good selection for everyone. The owner is exceptionally polite and grateful. This isn't one of the most popular spots in Bend, but that's what makes it a fantastic place to go - there usually isn't much of a wait to get in. The servers are very friendly, and always have great suggestions to make. As far as menu items go, you can't go wrong with the daily special. On this visit, I had the Mt. Bachelor Omelet, which was amazing - the Portobello mushrooms and Swiss cheese really made it flavorful. As a side, I opted for the Swedish pancakes, which were done to perfection. My family also ordered the breaded pork cutlet (quite tasty), the buttermilk pancakes (again, huge!), and the chicken-fried steak (not as flavorful as the pork cutlet). We all enjoyed the country potatoes - so good! The dining room can seem a bit crowded, but that's about the only downside to mention. read more

I grew up in a family where greasy, stick-to-your-ribs food was a staple...a wonderfully, heart-disease ridden staple. I am almost certain the chefs/cooks at Palmers are long lost relatives, because they know how to cook!! Now that I'm older I try to limit my artery-clogging food intake, but every once in a while a place like Palmers is a heavenly treat! My breakfast was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken fried pork chop and it was cooked to perfection. The gravy was tasty and the potatoes were crisp and perfectly seasoned...a little greasy, but again, that's sorta comforting to me.
