I'm not sure how you could give this place above a 2 star review. The food was low quality and tasted like it was sitting under a warming lamp. Yes it has a "homie" feeling but like a rundown 1970's home that just has been neglected. The service was the best thing and they seem to try to compensate for all the short comings of the food with humor and caring, but ultimately you go to a restaurant for the food. The burger was gray and lukewarm. The fries were bordering on cold. The tomato soup was more like a warmish bowl of salsa. The grilled cheese was probably grilled at some point, but the cheese was that plastic looking when you pull the bread apart... cold and reformed up after probably melting in a microwave. The chicken fried steak had a brown gravy that looked horribly unappetizing. The salad was about the only thing that seemed ok, but then you taste the dressing... I don't often encourage people to not even give a place a chance, but if you go, don't say you weren't warned.

Visiting Sisters and needed to find breakfast. This place was highly recommended on Yelp so we decided to check it out. It was late morning mid-week so we got in quickly. Staff was attentive and friendly. Food came out quickly and portions were large. Decor is typical country vibe you expect in Central Oregon.

Food was very average. We ordered the breakfast burrito, Spoons full breakfast, kids grilled cheese, kids pancake with sausage, two juices, coffee and soda. Fairly expensive for what we got - $65 before tip. The burrito was very bland and it had both sausage and bacon on it. I would definitely not suggest this, hence 3 stars overall. The kids grilled cheese was fried cheese side down so my kiddo wouldn't eat it since the texture was so off for him and he will typically eat anything (my husband and I thought it was good though). The kids pancake was cute and my daughter loved it. Service was good. Fast drink refills and food came out quickly. Ambiance is cute. It appears to be an old house and very casual, which we prefer with young kids.

My favorite and go to whenever I try somewhere new is chicken fried steak. Unfortunately it was a frozen nothing special steak. Hoping for fresh and unique but it was like Shari's. Rye bread was delicious and famous potatoes are interesting. Good but lacking that crunch from traditional hash browns. Service was very friendly but the wait for food was about 40 minutes and half full restaurant. My wife on the other hand loved her chicken sandwich so maybe I should of did lunch. I had a homemade chicken fried steak about 3 blocks up a couple days before that was delicious. I doubt I'll return.

Avocado toast with sunny side eggs and bacon on a side. Super good.

We got there on busy morning to wait an hour for a slightly well done breakfast. Would give them another try but not impressed so far.

The table was filled with breakfast favorites. We ordered hotcakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and huevos rancheros. A couple of morning cocktails also made an appearance, including Cottonwood's version of a Bloody Mary and a rum-infused mocha. The huevos rancheros had a bit more kick than expected, but it worked. Our server was fun and easy to chat with, which added to the relaxed feel of the morning. Nobody rushed us, and breakfast with friends is one of those things that shouldn't be rushed. Will we be back? Probably. Cottonwood Cafe feels like a place where locals and visitors can both feel at home, and it was a nice way to wrap up another great trip to Sisters. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

During Memorial Day weekend, the line was often out the door, yet it moved surprisingly fast. Even with the crowds, we usually had our drinks in hand within about 10 minutes. The Bourbon Caramel Latte has become a favorite, but honestly, we come here for more than the coffee. It's one of those places where you want to slow down for a bit. We'll grab a couple of drinks, find a place to sit, and spend an hour people-watching, reading, catching up on the news, or just enjoying the morning. The building itself adds to the experience. It feels like a classic mountain lodge, and there's always a steady mix of locals, tourists, hikers, cyclists, and dog owners passing through. Even when we're traveling with friends, Sisters Coffee becomes the mandatory first stop of the day. Will we be back? Of course. In fact, I think it's time I finally signed up for a coffee subscription so I can enjoy a little bit of Sisters when I'm back home.
