I've gone back and forth between writing my 5-star review, not because I don't think Paddler deserves it, but because I'm worried about no longer being able to come here whenever I want because it's too busy!! It's a cute, small shop with fun, boat-themed decor (bonus, they left their Christmas decorations up for a while which I am 1000% a fan of haha) I hesitate no more because Paddler has been my north star for Thai food and the people need to know how good this place is. Bonus, the staff is so incredibly nice as well! I personally think that Thai Boat Noodles (guaytiew rua) is underrated and deserves way more recognition as a dish and will happily introduce people to this dish if they're meat eaters! For folks unfamiliar with Southeast Asian food, I describe thai boat noodles as very herb-forward. And it's ah-may-zing. So yeah, if you're coming here, definitely get the Boat Noodles! Traditionally, the soup version is typically with Sen Lek, which at this place is medium rice noodle. Whenever I get the dry boat noodles, I get it with the egg noodle because it truly soaks up all that delicious sauce at the bottom of your bowl (pro tip: mix it up before you eat!!!) But honestly, you can't really go wrong with your noodle choice. It's truly up to whatever noodle you prefer! They also have Lime Thai Tea which is SO refreshing! Other things I've ordered here are: - Moo Yang w/ sticky rice (YUMMMM super nostalgic for me) - Fresh Rolls (to get that veggie fix) - Spicy Grilled Beef Salad (also herb forward. I love SEA herbs!) - Hoi Tod Skillet (super nostalgic dish for me as well!)

Great meal at Paddler! The boat noodles has a flavourful broth and lots of toppings. The crisp fried quail wontons are okay, nothing mind blowing. Our group all agreed that Moo yang was a great appetizer with the charred grilled pork belly paired with fragrant sticky rice.

What an amazing hidden gem! Stumbled upon this Thai restaurant and I think I found my new favourite Thai place in the GTA! We ordered the beef boat noodles, Tom yum noodles, mango sticky rice and Thai iced tea - everything was perfection. The beef boat noodles was 5/5 - so flavourful, the best boat noodles I've ever had outside of Thailand, maybe even including Thailand. Tom yum also 5/5, mango sticky rice 4/5, very yummy but could use more mango for the amount of rice. Thai iced tea 5/5 - hits the spot for me. We came on a Sunday night and didn't need to wait (not a huge restaurant, 10-15 tables), service was fast and speedy. Can't wait to come back (again and again) to try more menu items, I already know this is going to be a staple for me!

Strong packed flavours in a homey mom & pop restaurant. Came on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was filled. The restaurant is small and can occupy around 18-20 people. The front of house is managed by one woman who really does it all! She was super friendly in greeting our party of 8 and gave recommendations on dishes we should order - all while giving us huge smiles :) (greatly appreciated!). Came here for their boat noodles but fell in love with their pad thai. Never had boat noodles before so I cannot comment on what they should actually taste like. However, the taste of the boat noodles here were very strong and herby. Don't get me wrong, it did not taste bad. It was just too strong for my palette. Other people in my party really enjoyed the boat noodles and stated it was comparable to those found in Thailand, so give it a go! 7.5/10 The pad thai on the other hand was delicious. The perfect tang and saucey consistency is what got me. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the tofu and chicken toppings I chose were a great pairing. Still thinking about this dish right now - YUM! 9.5/10 Mango sticky rice is also a must. A warm sticky rice with condensed milk and mango chunks to finish off your meal. 8.5/10 Can't wait to come back to try their other dishes. Other people got dishes that also looked and smelled fantastic.

Never been to Thailand but every dish was amazing.... If I had to pick a favourite it would be the pad si-ew. The green curry was very flavourful and had a small kick. The boat noodle was something I've never had before; it was different and exciting. The pad si-ew was perfect blend of savoury, sweet, tangy and "wok hei" (aka breath of the wok). Each dish came with a lot of protein. They're allergy friendly and the staff was great. Will definitely come back for more and try other dishes.

Thai boat noodles (pork) were excellent: rich broth with generous toppings & a little kick. The pork meat was extremely tender. They could have a bit more noodles though. The beef version was good too, though pork was better. Thai iced tea with milk was excellent: rich with a good herbal taste. Mango sticky rice was pretty good, with fragrant coconut sauce.

Pad Thai (chicken)

Had a hankering to try some place new and came across Paddler. Ordered a couple classics so it's easy to compare to others I have tried. Ordered the chicken Pad Thai and chicken green curry. Loved the green curry. It's a little spicier than I normally like but tasty. The pad Thai was okay but until I noticed this bitter taste after each bite. It's a definitely a promising spot!!

Beef boat noodle soup

Boat noodle soup is very unique. You can choose the toppings and noodles you like. Highly recommended

Been here twice and had two very different experiences…read more I was here for the first time on March 15, 2025, for my birthday dinner. I'd made a reservation for four which was great because the restaurant was very busy. My group ordered several different full-sized entrees and shared the meal family style. The dishes were all executed flawlessly. I came here again for a work team lunch in August 2026. It was easy to book a reservation for a large group; the restaurant was not busy at all on a weekday afternoon. Most of the group ordered from the lunch special menu offered at the time which allowed diners to pick around three menu items from the special menu for around $22. The server was honest and explained that the items on the lunch special menu are not made to order and are prepared in bulk. I really appreciate this honesty, as I ended up ordering from the special menu and experienced the difference in quality. The waiter was again honest and courteous when the bills came out, reminding us that gratuity was already included. He was also friendly and helpful when we asked for a group photo before heading out.

We ordered the tapioca dumplings, papaya fritters, beef massaman curry, nam khao, drunken noodles w chicken, mok pa, and watermelon salad. Overall I think the food was good although some items were a skip (drunken noodles and watermelon salad). For a cheaper price I've had more delicious drunken noodles, these were just fine. The watermelon salad was literally cut watermelon lol please. However, the rest of the food was really good. My top three items were the tapioca dumplings, nam khao, and beef massaman curry, in that order. I have had delicious tapioca dumplings in Madison, WI and have been chasing those item for years now and this really delivered. I love nam khao and have had various versions - this isn't the best I've had (I had a phenomenal one in Chicago) but it was still sooooo good. Beef massaman curry exceeded my (low/neutral) expectations. Service was incredible, the waitress was so nice and helpful. It is a fun decor in there as well and so much bigger than I thought it would be (tbf I didn't have a specific expectation, but it does have many rooms).

I found the dishes to be quite heavy-handed on the seasoning (borderline too salty), so the variety helps. Panang Curry - very flavorful, slightly sweet, and very savory. Had a nice kick to it! Som Tum Tod (fried papaya salad) - ordered it because it was their signature but I thought it was too salty and crunchy. And I got kind of tired of the fried aspect of it. Wished I ordered the fresh papaya salad instead. The heat and garlic is nice though. Decently sized portion so you can share it with the whole table. Pad Woonsen Cha-Om (Minced Pork & glass noodle, egg, garlic and acacia leaves) - my first time trying this dish! It was really good! It kind of filled the role of "fried rice" to me, mellowing out all of the stronger flavours of the other dishes. Still quite flavourful on its own too. Felt like a Thai-spin on the Korean dish, Japchae. Kai Yang (grilled chicken) - oh my gosh the sauce this chicken comes with is TO DIE FOR. I want to buy it or learn how to make it. It's so fragrant, fresh, spicy, aromatic, and just the right amount of fishy and acidic. We were very full sharing these 4 dishes between 3 people. For the fact that this is Michelin Bib Gourmand, I think it is well-priced and a great place to try!

This time we ended up at Khao San Road, which was busy from the get go. We got there a couple minutes before opening at 5pm, and before you knew it, there was a line waiting behind us. Inside was quite spacious between tables, and they were playing throwback tracks. We ordered a mango salad to share, which was okay but not my favourite. It got really sour near the end but next time I would try the papaya salad instead. For my personal main, I got the Pad Thai with no spice. It was still very flavourful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. One thing I appreciate is that the portion size is huge!! For me, this could've easily been 2, if not 3 meals. The Thai iced tea was also really good but on the sweeter side. A good restaurant to try if you're coming from out of town, wouldn't be disappointed.

Standout dishes like the Bangkok-Style Pad Thai, rich Khao Soi, and crisp Squash Fritters deliver incredible depth of flavor every single time. Portion sizes are generous, and the spice levels are no joke--if you ask for Thai spicy, they mean it! Expect a bit of a wait during peak hours, but it remains one of the best Thai dining experiences in the city.
