Best around! They get super busy quick but it is worth the wait! They accommodate! I just wish they delivered further!!!!

I got take-out tonight with my family and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The food had great flavors and it delivered on spice, like we wanted. We ordered the Lemongrass Soup, Panang Curry, House Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles. None of them were the best I've ever had, but were all quite good. In Waterville, that gets five stars. *Take-out took about an hour, so plan ahead if you are ordering take-out.* My parents moved to Waterville about a year ago and they hadn't tried Pad Thai Too. They had heard some mixed things from friends but based on the Yelp reviews, I was able to convince them to try a new place. They are glad they did. They had tried the other place in town and were very disappointed. They expected it to be what they call "Maine spice"--AKA mild-- so I ordered 4-stars on spice, it was i bit too hot for my mother. It was still a bit less than I would have liked, but I am freaky with spicy foods. Getting 3-stars may be best if you like a medium-to-hot spice level. Everything we had was vegan. They don't even use fish sauce at all in the restaurant! WIN! Their menu even mentions accommodating vegetarians and vegans on it. They were happy to leave the egg out of the noodle dishes. I haven't seen that anywhere else in Waterville (though my scope is limited). The only two things I would change are; 1) adding a bit more veggies to the dishes. They were more scant than I am accustomed to. Also, when I have to choose between veggies and tofu in dishes, I always choose tofu so I missed the basic veggies. 2) On the menu, they state that ordering more than 5-stars will cost $.10 per star, which seems silly. Overall, when I want to go out to eat in Waterville, this will be my choice. Its vegan friendly and everyone will be happy. It's also the best Thai food you will find in this part of the world. FYI on the Drunken Noodle: it is made with skinny rice noodles rather than the the wide noodles I am used to in this dish. It was still good, it is just texture of rice noodle, but it is a different texture than you may be used to. read more

I recently attended dinner here with a large-ish group (there were 6 of us) on a Sunday evening and we were seated with no problem. I ordered the glass soup, which was good, but not memorable. When chopsticks were requested, plastic chopsticks were handed to us by the waiter with his bare hands which kind of bothered me, and food wasn't served at the same time, leaving one person sitting with no food. I'll probably go back if I'm with the same group of people, but I prefer Asian Cafe. read more

We lived in the area for about a year or so before we tried this place. Having traveled around Thailand a few years back, I became spoiled and particular about my Thai food. I've tried different restaurants throughout New England and been fairly disappointed each time so I wasn't expecting much in Waterville, Maine. And walking in I figured I was in for another drab experience. But, man, the looks of this place are deceiving! Everything is made fresh and cooked as you order it, not just reheated, which likely is the reason for the complaints about how long it takes the food to come out. I'll sacrifice the few extra minutes for food freshly prepared. My wife, kids and I always get something different and have never been disappointed. After reading reviews for Pad Thai Too, I decided to get lunch there today while working in Waterville. I was quite disappointed. I went with what I thought would be safe at an unknown eatery, and since this place is named after a specific dish, I thought they would have good Pad Thai, but instead it was bland, dry and the portion was quite small for the $9+ price. The chicken in the dish tasted fresh, and the food was freshly cooked and hot but those were the only redeeming qualities. I've never had pad Thai without any semblance of sauce or flavor before. The dish consisted of dry rice noodles and chicken with some peanuts sprinkled on top. I dug down to the bottom of the dish in hopes of finding some flavor there but there was none. WOW! Driving from western Maine to most eastern point in Lubec, we had to stop midway for something to eat. We totally rely on Yelp for our food choices when traveling and we saw the ONE and only review from Joolsey for Pad Thai Too in Waterville! I would have NEVER gone here without her review. It doesn't have much of an apperance on the outside and the inside hasn't been renovated in some time. It looks nothing like a place you would want to eat at. THE FOOD WAS FABULOUS! Took her word for it and ordered the Crispy Pad Thai! I'm ruined! Nobody in Miami, FL makes pad thai like that! We also ate the Fresh Thai Rolls. Excellent restaurant. Pad Thai Too has always been my go to place in Waterville. One our recent visit, we ordered the Penang Curry with four stars of spicy and Pad See Ew. The food is flavorful and fresh per usual. Just okay. I'm new to the area and went here with a friend. While the wait staff was pleasant and fairly quick, I wasn't all that impressed with the food or the cocktail I ordered. The cocktail was watery and I swear it was Maker's Mark and not the dark rum I ordered. The chicken dumplings and spring rolls were actually really good, but the main dishes? Not so much. We ordered panang curry with shrimp, which would have been better if the ingredients weren't so scarce--all sauce. The ginger stir fry was pretty unremarkable. It was mostly a watery sauce with some rubbery chicken pieces and a ton of baby corn--who actually likes baby corn THAT much?? If I go back I'll be lowering my expectations a bit, but I'm just glad I didn't go all in on the duck noodle bowl. read more

My wife and I live and work in Waterville, Maine, and understand the problems that may present themselves to restaurants in smaller towns in quasi-rural Maine, but professionalism is something that shouldn't be lacking in any restaurant regardless of their location. I just called, 20 minutes prior to close, to see if a delivery was possible. I didn't even get a chance to say a word, when the person picked up the phone and immediately began with "are you kidding me!?" As [formerly] frequent customers we are appalled! We were not so politely informed that the restaurant had been "dead" for a while so it closed early - we understand that living in a small town in Maine presents problems with staying open "late," but stating that your hours are until 9pm, and closing prior to that is a little ridiculous. Because of the explicitly annoyed attitude and inconsiderate nature of the initial "welcoming" on the phone, it isn't too difficult to see why you aren't busy at 8.30pm on a Saturday night. Needless to say, it is highly unlikely that we will continue to give them our business. read more

I've eaten here a few times and every time the food was excellent. you walk in and greeted with a smile hello. One thing you need to expect is it will take a while to get your food once you place your order. The worst service I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Free tables that needed to be cleared and clean sat untouched for 15 minutes while patrons waited to be seated. Over an hour to get our food and not all the dishes came out at the same time. Four of us had dinner here on a Sunday evening after a movie at Railroad Square. Hadn't been to Pad Thai Too for a number of years, and we were impressed with how much better it is. The menu is extensive and everything we had was really tasty -- hot and sour soup, lemongrass soup, chrispy pad thai, tom yam yai noodle bowl, bankok special stir fry, and koh samuifried rice. Pad Thai Too is a great place to get Thai takeout - there aren't many decent Thai options north of Portland. It's not the best Thai food I've ever had, but it's far from the worst. Everything they make is fresh and to-order, and if you want to change it up, they're flexible. Yes, the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired, but if you want a delicious, satisfying Thai meal, you could do a lot worse. I travel a lot. I eat at a variety of restaurants and will always prefer Thai, but really good Thai cuisine is a rarity. Outside of the Thai Orchid in Rowley MA, Pad Thai Too is as good as it gets. Yes the interior could use an extreme makeover but the food here is right on the mark. Please read the menu which explains they have 3 woks and a 4 range burner, so EVERYTHING is made to order, hence the wait time for some orders. The wait is worth it. Soups are great. I come here occasionally for lunch or order takeout. I love their Pad Thai - unlike other restaurants, Pad Thai Too lets the noodles and meat take center stage and not the sauce. The Koh Samui fried rice is also amazing - I like to order it with shrimp. Service is always good. Sometimes, it takes a while for delivery depending on the day, and it's easy to forget that they are closed on Mondays. Still, such a great restaurant. I love this place, its one of my favorites. I will probably never stop going there. BUT just about a month ago I went with a friend of mine and there was a hair in her chicken pad thai (wasnt ours, it was short and black. We both have long hair and mine is blonde and hers is red). Took about 10 minutes to even get someone to our table, and when she did, we told her what we found and she said "ok so...........???" and we were both in disbelief. My friend stated how she had barely ate any and didnt want to pay for it and the woman kind of scowled at us and said ok. I dont know if she thought it was ours or what but I do love it there and its amazingly delicious. I was just very disappointed in the service. read more

When we cannot meet in Augusta at Sweet Chilli, or in Bangor at Thai Siam, we will meet midway in Waterville at Pad Thai Too. No, like others, I'm not crazy about the decor, but with that out of the way, everything else was exceptional. The fried dumplings, curry, fresh rolls and soups, very authentic and flavorful. The wait staff is attentive but not overbearing and they are not afraid to give suggestions. I have been pleased with every one especially the mango dish Joshua suggested. This is one of the best if not the best Thai meals that I have ever had. I live in Boston and this restaurant is better than any Thai restaurant that I have eaten at there. The only comparable Thai restaurant that I have enjoyed as well is cholada in malibu ca. I ate at pad thai too last night for the first time while visiting my son at colby college. The place was not fancy and the waiters were just wearing street clothes so I didn't expect much. When our appetizer order arrived - chicken dumplings - I thought these look homemade - and they were. Fresh and delicious. My main course panang curry was perfectly balanced in flavor - light with fresh veggies - not thick, creamy and gloppy as curries sometimes can be. One of the waiters told me that his parents owned the restaurant and that they grew their own veggies during the summer. As others have said, it lacks visual appeal, but the food is fantastic. I had the lemongrass soup (some of the best I've ever had) and the mango curry and my wife got their house pad thai. We appreciated the server being conscious and helpful in accommodating our vegetarian diet. The servings are a bit smaller than some places, but it was enough. I have had better Thai food. I had the red curry with Duck and rice noodles, in addition to the golden triangles. The golden triangles were not bad, they were tasty. The sauce that came along with the golden triangles didn't really complement the appetizer. It felt a little disjointed. The curry needed some help. It needed more subtle flavors, I am all for spicy food, however, you want to be able to taste other flavors. It was certainly lacking in the curry department, which is a shame as I LOVE Thai curry. I large problem that I had... WAY OVER PRICED AND LACK OF COMPASSION. Let me explain: I called to order lunch (1st time I ate their food) I asked the total. I was a little blown away over the phone, however instead of questioning it I figured perhaps the portions were going to be large and that is why the total was so high. My lunch arrived late, and I got this small bag. When I opened it, I was this tiny little container of rice noodles (clearly not enough for me to bring home to give to my 3 and 1 year old) Disappointed at the portion in comparison to what I paid, I was hopeful that the money was going to be worth it when I ate it. Figured that it would be out of this world amazing! After I dug into the curry and the golden triangles, I was extremely let down and slightly upset. I figured that there might have been a mistake in the charge. So I called.... I called the # perhaps 7 times throughout the day before I was able to speak to someone. When I spoke to a girl on the phone, she told me that there was no manager on the phone, then she did the math and told me that I was charged the proper amount and that she was sorry that I didn't enjoy the food. That was it!!! There was not attempt in service recovery on any level whatsoever!!! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I am shocked that there are places out there that have no consideration for customer service, especially this day and age. read more
