The best hot dogs in the universe. Even though I have moved away from central Maine I always stop here when Im in Waterville.

I'm having thoughts of summer as I write this review but of course hot dogs are good all the time. The line goes fast so don't be deterred. The individuals who work here are friendly and efficient. The fries were not as crispy as I like but that's a personal preference. read more

Update: Just went by for a quick lunch since I was in town...and they have Moxie. A quick survey of some of the locals (ok, my parents) shows the new fries are much preferred. They do not salt the fries because many of the older clientele have to limit their salt intake, but they have salt, a spicy salt mix and vinegar to douse the fries to your hearts content. I chatted with the new owner, a Marine vet, while his daughter took my order. They are involved in veterans issues, and raise money for local homeless vets. Their daughter sell high quality Bolleys T-Shirts. The wife and husband cook the fries and hot dogs. The place is a great local business that serves an iconic lunch. read more

Maybe because I'm not a native Mainer, and I don't know about you, but the popular Maine "red" hot dogs kind of freak me out - I hadn't found a worthwhile dog in a while here... until now! They must be named Bolley's famous franks for a reason - the hot dogs are BOMB! I got mine with ketchup, mustard, and raw onion (which were layered nicely underneath the dog for the perfect bite). The buns are fresh and soft. The hand-cut fries are pretty good too. Quick counter-style ordering - only took about 5 minutes after I ordered there to receive my food. We stopped in looking for a quick lunch off the highway. We had the blueberry drunken burger and the cowboy burger. Handmade burgers cooked perfectly to order, with not-your-average burger buns. Great specialty burger options. Very clean place, and helpful service. No tables to sit at, but counters to stand and eat. My friend had the gluten free buns and said they were very good. read more

We have a college student at Colby so we are in Waterville Maine often. I searched yelp for restaurant recommendations for lunch on Saturday before the football game. We went to Bolleys at 11:45am on a Saturday. Second in line. We ordered a double cheeseburger with fries, a loaded cheeseburger with fries, a loaded hotdog and a NY hotdog with fries. OMG. The food is amazing! The rolls are so fresh that they melt in your hands and they are toasted. The hamburger meat is like ground filet mignon! Natural casing hot dogs. And the price is more than right. We will be back every time we visit Waterville. read more

first - Bolley's doesn't take cards!! bring cash! okay, down to the meat of it. i'm really torn about this review for Bolley's. i've loved this place for the past 20 years, since i was a kid. i adore how inexpensive it is, how informal it is, and how *fast* i can get delicious food. but when i stopped in yesterday, i was disappointed that my dog was the weeniest weeny i've ever been served, *anywhere*. no lie, the dog itself was about as big around as my index finger and floating in its bun. Bolley's, bring back the decent sized hot dogs of yesteryear and i'll give you 5 stars in a heartbeat! as it stands, i won't be returning here. read more

Just left from there. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. I noticed the 2 older men were snickering looking my way. When I got my lunch, the burger was literally the size of a half dollar. The bun was full size.. I should have gone back and asked for my $8.75, but I was late and too angry to deal with them. They must have their regulars and don't care if new people don't return. I really hate to waste money on businesses that don't care. read more

The lobster roll competition in Greater Waterville is not that strong, so a good lobster roll can really make some noise. Bolleys fills the bill. While completely lacking in scenery -- you eat at picnic tables overlooking the parking lot and the back of the building, on nondescript College Ave -- the food is on point. The delightful proprietor will ask you how much mayo you want on your roll, which is filled with a generous portion of fresh lobster meat. Also, the fries are outstanding! Maybe that's not a good thing for the waistline, but they are delicious. Kudos to the long-time fry guy, who stuck around after the ownership change. read more

First thing to report is that Bolleys Famous Franks in Waterville is OPEN FOR BUSINESS. They changed ownership recently and are now up and running. The hotdogs are excellent and the hand cut fries are so good they don't even need ketchup. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Good place for a quick lunch. read more

I think I went to the wrong place - I was told this was a great place but I went there and I expected since it was a hot dog place that there would be all kinds of different things to put on your dog but no - you either got plain or chili.
