    Shroom dog

So this is a food truck parked and supplied with chairs in a municipal parking lot. There's a bunch of tasty topping options and a few specials. The shroom dog with locally foraged chanterelles is a very distinct taste and texture. The house made Vegan dog goes well with it but doesn't taste like a hot dog. The bison slider was excellent. The locally made kielbasa was great. Is not good walking food, as it's extremely messy.

After a mediocre $60 lunch on the main drag that left us still hungry, on the way to our parked car we decided to stop into The Moody Dog to try one of their homemade vegan hotdogs. TMD is a shaggy little food truck that's permanently tucked off the main street, next to a public parking lot (behind a bike shop). As it turned out, virtually all of their dog dishes could be made vegan/plant-based. I went with a "classic" (ketchup, yellow mustard, relish, grilled onions -- no mayo); Jay went with the "Chicago" dog (yellow mustard, raw white onions, pepperoncini, dill pickle, tomatoes, sweet relish). (This was no-frills since we just had lunch.) We both really liked it: The homemade vegan hotdog was pretty tasty. (It was a bit "soft" for me -- comparing it to a Field Roast Stadium Dog (which is as close to a "real" hotdog that I think there is for vegans -- but still "hotdog-like.") It satisfied our lingering hunger pangs, that's for sure! I definitely will be back to The Moody Dog the next time I'm in Belfast...!! :D

Outdoor seating area. No shade, but good dogs and sausages!

Terrific food truck with a variety of local sausages, great toppings, and an outside BYOB dining area. They take their dogs seriously. If you're a hot dog, bratwurst, or sausage fan, then this truck is worth a visit.

Muffuletta dog, hand dipped corn dog! Holy molly how good is that! Monhegan Island cold Brew Coffee is the best and only here at @themoodydog. If you're in Belfast look for them! Super nice lady, great street food.

The Moody Dog food truck. Garlic-scape pesto dog with edible flower garnish. So good.

OMG not 5*s I give them 20*'s This is the most incredible…read morelobster shack anywhere in the United States. Yes the lines are long, sometimes 2-3 hours before it's your turn to order your meal. Today I ordered an appetizer lobster pop. It was ok nothing to write home about but I also ordered scallops , onion rings, lobster roll, excellent iced tea & excellent iced coffee. We picked an outside table & waited for our order to be delivered. It only took 10-15 minutes to have our order delivered. Red's doesn't weigh their lobster all they do is pile it on so high you can't see the buttered grilled hotdog roll. Served with a side of hot butter to dip or pour on the lobster. I couldn't finish my roll so I took home some leftover lobster that I weighed at home. It weighed 4.7 oz more than what a normal lobster roll weighs regularly. I can safely say there was around 16z of fresh tender lobster meat. No chewiness incurred. Look closely at the pictures & start making plans to visit Red's Eats in Wiscasset Maine. We chose to go visit when they 1st opened on May 6th so the line we stood in was only 10-12 people deep. We will go back in October before they close for the season. This will be the most impressive lobster shack you'll ever experience. Make plans & drive there soon.

OPENING DAY 2026 I…read morewas lucky enough to be in the area on opening day and knew it was finally time to try the famous Reds Eats as a native Mainer. Since it was opening day on a wednesday and i arrived around 1:45 i only waited in line about half an hour so i cant speak on wait times during peak season. I do know however that i would wait in a longer line to eat this food again because it was more than worth it. First of all the customer service is exceptional- i dont think i have had a better more friendly experience. They give you sampled while you wait in line and during my time they were handing out their beer batters fried shrimp and wow even that was amazing! I waited while it was cold and rainy as well so the hot shrimp was a wonderful surprise. I watched ever interaction the employees had with every individual party and the never wavered in politeness or excitement. They treated everyone with the same respect and really took their time catering to them. Now onto the food, i ordered the sweet potato fries with the house made maple aoili, a side of cole slaw, and of course the lobster roll which was a market price of $38 on opening day. The food came out so fast, the wait times are not because they don't get food out in a timely manner because they were an excellent well oiled machine in the kitchen. This lobster roll is absolutely STUFFED with lobster. I had at least two tails, two claws, and then some in my one hot dog roll and i couldn't even pick it up. Let's just say i fork and knifed it until i could take a bite of the roll which i am not complaining about at all! Comes with hot butter on the side which i liked more than just being dumped onto the roll beforehand. Pro tip- get the side of sweet potato fries because the house made maple aoili it comes with is also fantastic when you dip your lobster roll in it! Plus the fries were perfectly hot and crispy. Cole slaw was a great addition too for some crunch! I love being able to look out into the water as you sit outside, and i was even bundled up in a jacket but i wouldn't change my experience for anything! This is by far the best price point for any lobster roll you'll get in Maine when we are talking about quality and quantity. You will leave extremely satisfied and the experience is going to stay on your mind until you go again! I can't wait for my next chance to eat at Reds!

We happened to be in town for the last day of the few festival, which held the most important event: the cheese roll! The Good: *Free to attend *Chill atmosphere and didn't seem overly crowded *Lots of food trucks *Great location at the Belfast Ha'bah *Family-friendly *Live Celtic-themed ingredients *Heavy Games (aka Scottish Highland games) *Cheese roll was epic and totally worth watching. It seems like the stupidest thing on earth, but I promise you it's fucking hilarious and so much fun to watch. The Meh: *Didn't really notice a lot of crafty booths around, but it's possible they might've been gone since we showed up for only the final hours of the event. The Ugly: *Parking down at the Ha'bah can be a giant PiTa, but not impossible. Conclusion: Great local festival with some fun events--and don't miss the cheese roll!

There are also music sessions each day where one can bring one's own instrument and join in with a group to jam. The Scottish "heavy games" are amazing to watch as burly men (and women) compete in traditional events such as the caber toss, hammer throw and stone put, all while wearing kilts. Lots of food vendors and craft or information booths. There's also a Renaissance 'travelers' village. And there are fireworks Saturday night! All of this takes place on the waterfront within walking distance from downtown Belfast. Entry is by donation and well worth the contribution!
