My husband and I shared an Asian Jumbo Walking Taco with Fried Haddock and a Haddock Reuben. The walking tacos are more of a wrap/small burrito than a taco (and also not a bag of Fritos like what I know a walking taco to be). This was one of the best meals we had on our 10 day Maine trip. The fish was so fresh and I loved the unique preparation. You see a lot of the same type of stuff in coastal Maine, so this was a great change of pace. It's a small shack along the coast in Camden. We have been visiting Camden, ME for years and I've always wanted to stop in at Harbor dogs. Finally got my chance! I got their Chicago dog with a vegetarian hotdog and their southwest hotdog also with a vegetarian hotdog. Great place to stop by if you want quick, friendly service and a good meal. Went w the shrimp poor boy $7.50. Batter was very flavorful. Shrimp nice and crisp. I ordered a "Asian" fish taco with shrimp, which was wrapped in a tortilla like a burrito. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and it was flavorful - I do wish there was a spicy sauce or a creamy sauce for it, but it was still good. My dad ordered a hot dog and my mom ordered fish and chips. Had an hour before boarding the Schooner Appledore for a sunset cruise on the bay..we spotted this little hut on the pier..time for a bite was kinda taken by surprise it's not just dogs but upscale dogs, sausages and burgers..but would it be Maine if they didn't have a Lobster Roll or Fish and Chips? I grabbed a Haddock Rueben and some sweet fries. The damage was 13$ and worth every penny! Fish was delicious and plentiful on grilled rye..so good! Everything was perfectly cooked and fresh, the fish was delicious, the crunch was amazing, the sauerkraut was sharp and fresh, the bread was buttered and toasted to an ideal crispness, the Russian dressing was perfectly proportioned... my friends who insisted on ice cream for lunch looked in longingly as I enjoyed every last crumb. The walking tacos at Harbor Dogs are DIVINE! I had my first (the Down East taco) in 2018 and dreamed of coming back for it for 5 years. I finally made it back this week and it was just as good as I remember! I had to try all 3 they had to offer before we left and they were ALL delicious! I was in Maine for a wedding and the one thing everyone on this planet told me to try was a lobster roll. So I made it my weekend mission to have a lobster roll from a different spot every day I was in Maine. Harbor Dogs was day three of four. I can't even compare all of the rolls but this one did not disappoint. So much good meat and the roll was well cooked. I got to enjoy my roll along the harbor so all in all such a great experience. The only downfall was I was tricked into buying a Moxie. Even Mainers don't drink it because it's like root beer with a cough syrup aftertaste. Lobster roll was good and the dogs were great. One of my dogs had shredded cheese on it. I would think melted cheese would have been better than cold cheese on the dog. Make sure you ask them about the toppings on the specialty dogs. One had a blueberry habanero topping which was quite unique and good. Will definitely return. read more
