On a suggestion from a great guy at the Elks, who knew we were from out of town, suggested Wasses as a must stop. We tried on afternoon and the line was so long, we passed. We tried again the next day and it was perfect. What made the stop even better than the great food and outstanding/friendly service, are the customer's. Prepare to wait in line--it's clear that both locals and visitors are in the know--but it moves quickly and when you get your dogs you'll be glad you did. We almost always stop by the Belfast Wasses but have eaten at the Rockland store, also. They both equally satisfy our hot dog craving! The Belfast store is in the Belfast Reny's parking lot and is both walk-up and drive-through. Plenty of parking and a few tables with umbrellas. There has always been an attendant at each side of the building, so the order is ready in a hurry. Friendliness is a common factor at both stores making you feel welcome and your business appreciated. We prefer the kraut dogs but have tried chili dogs. The buns are always fresh, the dogs grilled just right. As expected during these uneasy times, the prices just went up a little, but not enough to deter us! Food is consistently excellent, as is the service, and I never have to wait more than a couple minutes or so in line/after ordering before my food is ready. They are like a well oiled machine here!
