Great little spot recommended by friends. I ended up getting the half crab, half lobster roll. It was perfectly toasted and filled to the brim. The fries had the perfect texture. You order at the counter and the friendly server brings it to your table when it is ready. Prices were reasonable and perhaps a little cheaper than some others in more touristy areas. read more

Well, sorry to write this but... $50 for lunch boy oh boy. Wouldn't be so bad if it's was incredible food. But lots of the fried clams, had to spit out coz they were too tough to chew. The thing is, when you are paying $25 for a clam roll shouldn't the little cup of cole slaw come with it instead of having to pay $3? The clams were overdone and not sweet like they should be. The french fries just ok. The sausage roll still is good. When we asked if we got a free refill on the Arnold Palmer we were told seconds are half price. Nickle and dimed every turn. I know it's tough these days to make a profit but we find spending $50 for a lunch that isn't really great just too tough for us. Won't be back. read more

Best roadside Lobster Shack we've been to on this vacation. Lobster rolls were very reasonably priced and the portion size was ample. Meat was tender too, a bit of lettuce for a slight crunch. Clam chowder was excellent also, and the Cheese fries were crispy & delicious (and smothered in cheese). Everything really "Hit the Spot", we left satisfied. Wish we had a place like this back in Connecticut, we'd be there all the time. Hazel's Take Out is a Winner, an Easy 5 Star rating. read more

Been a while since I have been to Hazel's take out ! I enjoyed the sausage and peppers at their outdoor seating area. Lines can be long at times and may take a little longer than you might want but the food is worth it. read more

If you love lobster, do NOT miss Hazel's. Everyone says they know the best place to get lobster rolls, but this is it. Had a cold Maine Lobster Roll. It was lightly dressed with mayo, lettuce, and served on a buttery, toasted roll. The lobster meat was piled high and extremely fresh. Paired with homemade french fries and a house made Arnold Palmer. Even though it's a fake out place, there is plenty of seating at brightly colored picnic tables. The server was funny and loved to tease the customers. We had a great time! read more

Quick service! What a cute spot! The 6 of us stopped on a Thursday at lunch and we quickly ordered and got our food. The milkshakes were great as well as the chili. The fries deserve an A+. I enjoyed my crab melt and my husband shared some tasty onion rings he ordered with his bleu burger. read more

Recent visit. Looking for new places to eat in the Rockland area and this place was busy so we decided to give it a try. It's located on RT 17 at a four way crossing. There are tables to eat with umbrellas spaced out to give privacy. My dog was also welcome. We ordered a cheeseburger 9.50 and chicken tenders with fries for 17.50, seltzer was 4.+. You sit and the meal is brought out to you. They don't actually want you waiting at the window as they told my son twice to find a table. The meal was served with no napkins, condiments or silverware. The cheeseburger was very greasy and looked and tasted like a premade frozen burger. The ketchup and mustard was all over the bun and It got all over me the first bite and continued till I gave the rest to my dog. The tenders were small and one (5) had no chicken it was just breading, again frozen not fresh. The fries were excellent hot but as they started to cool the grease could really be tasted over everything else. They were the best part of the meal. Would I go back? No. Very pricey for frozen fast food. read more

We drove past Hazel's after leaving the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, and turned around to come back after we noticed the line of locals gathering there. So happy we stopped! Fantastic fresh seafood that made my whole family happy. Order at the window and then have a seat outside or take it to go. Everything we tried was fresh and yummy. You know you've found the right place when tons of locals are there! read more

My absolute favorite spot to grab a quick bite in Rockland. Get the chili--its perfect, and great on its own or over fries/a hot dog. The fried haddock sandwich comes out hot and fresh, with a big, flakey, delicious piece of fish. The burgers and dogs are delicious. Haven't tried the lobster roll but it looked delicious and the diners next to us raved about it as they enjoyed one. For those with allergies: They were great about helping me figure out whats in/out the menu. They use peanut oil on the grill top, but not in the deep fryer, so I still had lots of options. Food is always hot and fresh. Service is fast and friendly. Outdoor picnic tables are always clean. Overall, just a fantastic lunch spot on the Midcoast. read more

Fast and good food. You order at window they bring it to your car or table. Nice people

Moved to Rockland 3 months ago and Hazel's has quickly established itself as our go to establishment for no frills seafood favorites. We have had 6-7 different menu items now and are yet to have a bad meal. The portion size is always above average and the seafood tastes very fresh. The crab roll is phenomenal, the fried whole belly clams are some of the best around and their Italian sausage and peppers is absolutely delicious. In my experience, you can't go wrong. I think Hazel's gets less love than other places because it's not waterfront. But the food more than makes up for the modest setting. I have had 3 different sets of visitors this summer and we took them all to Hazel's with rave reviews! read more

Hazel's Take Out - Garbage Fries! - Fast Food Near Me - Rockland, Maine

So my husband and I are visiting Maine and today we are on a lobster roll pilgrimage, trying to find the best Lobster roll--plain drenched in butter or lightly dressed with mayonnaise. On our way to start our feast we actually stumbled upon Hazel's. Our first lobster roll was a few days ago, south of this area at a place that is very popular and the wait was over two hours. They serve plain with butter. Hazels is light mayo. Hazel's lobster roll wins! Their lobster was more flavorful and tender and I like the light mayo! read more

Made a random stop here during our vacation in Maine, and they did not disappoint. The staff is extremely friendly, the food is delicious, and there's an option for outdoor seating. Highly recommend! read more

I had heard good things about the food at Hazel's so my daughter and I and her kids went there for the first time on Monday. It was awful and expensive. The food was made sloppily and I dumped most of my cheeseburger. The bun fell apart and the meat was dry with too many toppings. My daughter threw away her chili cheese fries because they were gross and her son didn't eat his veggie sub. My granddaughter liked her chicken strips and our fries were good. We dropped almost $100 on a mostly inedible meal. I called and let the owner Jessie know. She apologized but I'll never go back there. read more

Excellent chicken sandwich. Service is very organized and friendly. We sat outside which is the only seating and it was very clean and comfortable. Friends we were with had lobster rolls and they said they were very delicious and compared well to others elsewhere. read more

I've been meaning to stop by Hazel's for a long time and am so glad I finally did! We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with the fries and drink combo, a fried haddock sandwich, and a fish and chips with a side of onion rings. The fish was perfectly fried! Crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside. Also, it was a whole haddock fillet, not pieces. The tartar sauce was great and the fries were really amazing. The buns were lightly buttered and toasted and absolutely perfect on all the sandwiches. Onion rings were good but not great like the fries. Cole slaw was the one area of disappointment as it was overly creamy with a sharp, bitter vinegary taste like past due food. We will be back and will continue to try other items on the menu but now know to order fries and avoid Cole slaw for the perfect Hazel's experience. Ambiance: Hazel's is always busy and has added additional outdoor seating. Most of the no fuss picnic benches are shaded and will comfortably seat a group of 4-6. Even when they're seemingly "not busy" Hazel's may be fulfilling take out orders as they're very popular with locals and there are many nearby businesses. The corner Hazel's sits on is a busy one but it's still peaceful despite the four way traffic light. read more

This was actually my first visit to Hazel's, I should have come before, but word of mouth about the great roadside stand for takeout drew me in! The parking lot and picnic tables were packed. I read the Yelp reviews and went for the double cheeseburger delux. It was juicy, delicious, and I couldn't finish it. My mother had the fish and chips, my wife had the Hazel's sausage. A definite go to spot while in Rockland during the summer! I was going to go on a bike ride today, I did this instead! read more

Pretty good lunch spot, we stopped in for basic burgers, dogs, sausages and fries. Everything was good.

Terrific local spot! Order online and skip the line! Hazel's is a great local drive-in like carry out spot. They have all kinds of seafood, burgers, sandwiches, etc. The fish and chips were crispy and perfectly cooked. The chicken tender basket was similarly great. Nothing was greasy or not cooked correctly. Every time we drove by there was a line and the sign says everything is cooked to order - which suggests there could be a wait - but we ordered online from home and they came out with it into the parking lot exactly on time and we skipped the whole lunchtime line! Wouldn't hesitate to drop by and recommend it! read more

Great little place, just a tad off the beaten track of rt 1; great burgers, dogs .. recommend this place !

I've had many burgers in my life. One of the very best is Hazels breakfast burger. Many years of painstaking research and development must have gone into this burger. The tastes and textures were balanced and complimentary. Bacon was perfect; crunchy and crumbly. The egg was smooth, and onions sweet and savory. The bun is wonderful; buttery and soft, and holds everything in a warm and loving embrace. You can taste everything at the same time the way a good sound engineer allows you to hear every instrument in the band. Oh - the fries are also amazing. read more

Just last week we ordered their grilled chicken sandwich and fries. They were terrific, loved them, tasty, juicy. It it weren't for the fact that I'm sick and tired of the all too pervasive thumbs-up gesture I would give two to Hazel's. One negative note: Hazel, get rid of those wierd nasty French's Catsup packs. That ain't catsup! read more

This came recommended to us so we were disappointed. Multiple shells in the lobster roll...very small portions for the price.

My hubby and I showed up at around 3pm on a Saturday, so pretty close to closing time. I ordered the Veggie Fries (sweet potato fries with sautéed mushrooms, peppers and blue cheese on top) and he got a Double Cheeseburger with Bacon and a side of fries. It took awhile for the food to arrive but we didn't mind because we were comfortably chilling at a freshly painted picnic table under an umbrella. Food was truly excellent and the service was friendly. We will be back again and again! read more

ordered a cheeseburger, no where on the menu or by the person taking order said there's were cooked medium well. burger came out bloody, with blood on the bun as well, I asked if they could redo this & was told absolutely not, they don't have a meat thermometer and all burgers are medium well, mine was more rare then medium well., I was just going to throw it away but my husband took it back up & was told the same thing except he would not take no for the answer, they finally said they would redo it. the girl who brings the food out came to the table 30 minutes later to say it was just put on the grill and that they cook all burgers to medium well unless you ask different, no where did they provide this information, once again my burger was oozing blood!!! said they do not redo orders???, the lady in the kitchen brought my burger out after about 35 to 40 minute wait & repeated same spill, I told her they need to let people know about the policy, she said everyone liked their burgers medium well, I told her look mine was bloody & had blood on the bun, she said that's the only reason they replaced it & yet once again, it was my responsibility to tell them how I wanted my burger cooked, this is not a fancy restaurant, and if they keep telling me they have no meat thermometer how will they cook it to well done? offered an apology after all the round & round, even though that burger was cooked well done & tasted very good, we will never eat there again due to the aggravation! Beware if you don't like bloody burgers be sure to ask they cook them longer. read more

Ordered the Reuben haddock sandwich, it arrived piping hot. Fresh fish, good slaw on toasted bread. Sloppy but delicious! Fries were good to. Parking can be tough in the small lot, I ordered to-go and the food was brought to my vehicle. They do not use to-go containers, only paper trays. Sandwich, fries and a drink came to$14+, plus a tip for the young woman who brought the food to my vehicle. read more

We stumbled upon this spot and we were so glad we did. They have a wide variety of choices on their menu and the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and safely following COVID procedures. We enjoyed a haddock sandwich, which overtook the bun and a crab melt of which the crabmeat was plentiful and tasted delicious on toasted rye. We will be stopping back in the future! read more

THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL! If you are a fan of these crustaceans, boiled and in a toasted roll this is THE place in the mid coast region to go. While some like the over-blown, modern cook's versions, done up with all sorts of additions, give me a purist's dream: clean cooked lobster, just a tad of a wedge of lemon on the side, all on a toasted bun. And Hazel's delivers. The bun contains a more than generous serving, too. For those not in the mood for, or not having the time to appreciate the lobster, they offer a wonderful spread of wonderfully prepared favorites which bring back the pre-fast food feeling of hamburgers and hotdogs. You are, from the first bite, an era before the Golden Arches in love with their onion rings or fries or any other offerings. All you have to do is look at the line to get an idea of the quality. Be sure to put it on your list! read more

Last week my fiancé and I decided to try Hazels on a whim while driving home.... and we were not disappointed. My fiancé got the shroom burger with fries, and I got the breakfast burger. Let me just say, the fries are to die for. They are so good, no ketchup required which is saying something. The shroom burger was fantastic and loaded with mushrooms and cheese, he added nothing to it. The breakfast burger was awesome and the egg was cooked perfect. We will be back, that's for sure!!! The prices are more than reasonable for what you get for food. Customer service is also phenomenal. read more

We ordered two burgers mine was a cheeseburger, cheese fries and a root beer float/shake. Burger was huge, juicy, really tasty! Cheese fries were really good, plain fries good too. Root beer float/shake - different from A&Ws but terrific just the same. We ordered take out which was easy to do. The other was a Cowboy Burger which was also rated 5* As an FYI, the fries are seasoned and very tasty with a bit of a kick to them. The cheese fries had even more kick! Really good. read more
