I only wanted the float, but have since heard the burgers are pretty great too. The man behind the counter was kind and cheerful. When I asked about whether they carried more than one type of root beer, we got into a great conversation about our love of root beer. He had a few other root beers that a company was trying to push on him and he offered a few for me to try at a later time. While we talked he prepared my Eil's root beer float with locally made vanilla ice cream. He handed me my large cup and the bottle of the remaining root beer. The cup had a clear cover that he had taped down on the sides to keep it extra secure. There was both a spoon and straw for my consuming preferences too. Maybe it was that it was made with Eli's which is one of my favorites or that it was made with local ice cream.....or maybe both, any which way, it was one of the best root beer floats that I have had. Make sure to check out this place while racing down old route 3! It will be worth your time and money.

We discovered this place because we stayed at the hotel the restaurant is located in. We ended up eating here once for dinner and once for breakfast. We had the halibut at the oyster bar next door and the halibut at the oak room... Oak Room was much better. But the biggest differentiator was the service. Everyone at the Oak Room was so hospitable and seemed to genuinely enjoy the job (quite the opposite of next door). If you get a chance be sure to have a muffin at breakfast. They're delicious.

The meal was absolutely flavorful on my first visit but not so much the last visit in Dec 2025. Maybe it was a bad night? I thought the flavors fell flat and service was not as attentive. I was celebrating the holidays by treating friends to dinner and had to wave down someone twice to order rounds of drinks. I will give any establishment 20 stars if they are paying attention as to whether your glass is half empty.
