We loved this place and the town it's in. Great to walk around. The service was very friendly. There was plenty of outdoor seating. We ate a lot of oysters. Fish and chips. The fish was fried in panko and was wonderful. And fried mussels. The fries and oysters were fantastic. I could've done without the mussels. Highly recommend. They also have a small outdoor bar. It looked like live music was going to start shortly before we left. Enjoy!!! read more

First - the best fresh lobster roll, as requested - a small amount of butter. No fillers!! Entire claws and every chunk mellow and tender - smelled like the ocean. Comes with a portion of regular hand cut fries or fries with truffle oil and parmesan. The most enormous serving of french fries I have seen in my life!! Excellent cole slaw and a pickle spear that made this Brooklyn boy proud! We had takeout so we couldn't try their famous oysters. They literally have a screen enclosed wall of bleached oyster shells that I would estimate four feet high, six inches thick and easily 20 feet long! Gastronomic hit of our trip. Preparation was fast as promised. read more

Great outdoor restaurant for just hanging out and enjoying some oysters. The food was quite delicious no matter what you choose. Can't go wrong with a lobster roll in Maine. Service is slower in comparison to New York City so please just take the time and enjoy outdoor dining. read more

Our waitress was wonderful! A visiting student from Serbia but she knew her stuff! The oysters were delicious. The blackened fish sandwich that we split made the meal filling. Great food, dog friendly and great service. Highly recommend. read more

Excellent food, drinks and atmosphere! One minor point-we had fish (cooked superbly) but it was blackened, and the blackening seasoning was coated so thickly that it was nearly inedible as is. But the fish was so delicious that we scraped most of the seasoning off to salvage the fish. We would not order something with that seasoning again, but would definitely eat here again! Food for two (one appetizer, two drinks, a fish sandwich and salad with fish) plus tax and tip was right at $100-typical for what we paid for dinners in Maine. read more

Overpriced for a tent experience. The extra charge for mignonette sauce and horseradish was ridiculous because I didn't even ask for it. The bathrooms are outside and I had to kick the door open to get out. $36 for the a sad excuse of a lobster roll. Oysters, although good, were overpriced in my opinion. $142 lunch is out of alignment for being in a tent with a dirt floor. read more

Stopped here as we were exploring the coast, and we were not disappointed! We started with the oysters and of course all of them are from Damariscotta and they were delicious. They were fresh, cold and salty my favorite. We also got the shrimp curry and haddock tacos and that was also great! This place has a huge outside seating area and it's perfect on a nice day. I did want to try the tuna and they were out of it. If I lived closer I would frequent this place. read more

Shuck Station is a great place to go by boat ( or car ) if you're looking for a casual outdoor atmosphere with really good food ! They source the best local oysters . I recommend getting the " taste of the river " oyster platter to see which ones you prefer best. We loved them all. The station fries are also great to start with. I always get their haddock sandwich because it's So good . They grill the sourdough bread which elevates it from every other fish sandwich you get in Maine. You can have the fresh haddock grilled , blackened or fried. The homemade tartar sauce is delicious. A few f my friends had the lobster grilled cheese and loved it. One of them got it with bacon and tomato, too. All of the sandwiches come with a pickle and you can add coleslaw + chips, French fries + coleslaw or station fries + coleslaw for a slight upcharge. There chips are homemade and have quite a bit of pepper on them, FYI. Their station fries are a favorite of ours, but we get them as an appetizer. Their coleslaw is good because it isn't overdressed or creamy. It has a mild, pleasant taste. My cousin had the smash burger and it was a double. It looked tasty. 2 others ordered the tuna poke bowl and would order it on repeat! The service was super friendly . The seating is all outdoor with picnic table seating. The tables are covered with umbrellas, so the sun isn't beating down on you , which is nice. The ground is pebbles and oyster shells which gives it a unique vibe! There are 2 gender neutral, clean restrooms We thoroughly enjoy our lunches here every summer ! Sometimes you get lucky enough to enjoy live music! read more

This spot was amazing. Super friendly and fast service and a really unique menu highlighting local seafood and a great kids menu, reasonably priced. While in Maine, my wife wanted the experience of trying fresh shucked oysters on the shell, and her research led us to Shuck Station Raw Bar. I was mostly along for the ride, but did go for the Miso Baked Oysters. She wasn't sure she wanted a dozen on her own, but our server Dakota accommodated her by putting in an order for 9 individual raw oysters, all from around the area. I went with the Miso Baked Oysters. She enjoyed them, and mine were tasty, too, if not my usual seafood fare. Scallops sounded good to me, and though they are usually add-ons to their salads and bowls, Dakota put them in as an individual side with my baked clams, which was nice. My Bloody Mary was serviceable, and my wife enjoyed her Stonefruit Spritz. tough, like it is in most smaller towns like Newcastle that are taking on much more traffic than they were designed for. Be prepared for that, or maybe look for parking on the other side of the street from which you can later make a right turn. read more

We have been to the Shuck Station 3 times now. The food has always been excellent, but the service is not great. The station fries are soooo good! We also enjoyed the poke bowls, fish and chips, tacos, and banh mi sandwiches. Unfortunately, the young ladies who are the waitstaff take a long time to come over... even when not busy. They seem to be more interested talking with each other and eating, rather than checking on their customers. I hope they can work on their customer service, because the food is definitely worth the trip! read more

Perhaps the best fried oysters I've ever had! So fresh and delicious! I also had fresh oysters on the side. Just plump and delicious with great horseradish. My hubby had the fish and chips. What a wonderful find on our way up the coast of Maine! We didn't have reservations on a Monday at 6pm, but only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Food was solid all around (only drawback was they were out of raw tuna for their poke bowl.) Blackened haddock is spicy and salty and perfect on a salad with no need for dressing. The poke bowl surprisingly didn't have much leafy greens, just carrot, cucumber and avocado, but the flavors all melded well together. Fried haddock sandwich was outstanding and very filling, on buttered and toasted crispy sourdough. Seafood chowder was creamy and not overly salty, as some chowders can be. The Ginger Fizz Mocktail was sweet and spicy. Perfect on a summer evening! Ambiance is casual and family friendly, but not overly loud. Clean, efficient and warm service. read more

Happy Friday Adventurers! I was so excited to try this place for my birthday earlier this year and it was amazing. They offer a seasonal cocktail menu (I was there in winter), along with a small menu of bites and dishes. The ambiance is the biggest draw aside from eating fresh oysters. Usually closed during winter they happen to be open when I went (birthday gift to me)! They have a decent-sized lot, and a double yurt so it's much bigger than it looks. They offer limited reservations but do take walk-ins provided they have the space. When traveling alone I generally sit at the bar to enjoy people-watching, this time was no different. I ordered a dozen oysters(delicious), a few cocktails, and local beers. Everything was just perfect--cozy, intimate, warm, and perfect to get the chill out of your bones. Highly recommend it if you're in the area during their season. read more

the food is consistently very good! The Oysters are fresh with several varieties so it is a delicious delight to compare them

We love this place! We're from Minnesota, so we don't get to have perfectly fresh oysters very often. We're here for about a month each year, so we're sure to come here at least once or twice. We've tried some of the other foods and they're quite good as well. I highly recommend this place! Solid service, great food, kind of a cool ambience as well. read more

Cute, casual seafood eatery just across the bridge from downtown Damariscotta! Its outdoor seating is spacious and the ground is littered with oyster shells which really adds a nice touch to the "ambiance"! The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. We got the fish and chips - the fish was soft and flaky and delicious, though the batter could have been crispier if you ask me. The fish chowder was actually a smash hit, albeit loaded with heavy cream. Man it was good going down the gullet with some oyster crackers! Super tasty, well-seasoned and creamy. The lobster roll was fantastic, even though it was served on a hamburger bun? Strange choice if you ask me, a loyal New Englander, but it tasted fantastic. We were recommended the mayo version and we were glad we got it for sure. The fried oyster tacos were kinda meh. The oysters were soft and creamy but the taste was completely overpowered and masked by the fixings on the taco. The oysters themselves were the star of the show. Not a pixel of sand, fresh and cold, and they came with a nice spread of fixings. The only disappointment here was the French fries. They were extremely soggy and floppy and had very little seasoning and flavor. read more

These were our favorite oysters in all of Maine (and we tried many!!) Make sure to get their orange mignonette which is super yummy and comes in a handy dropper! The blackstone point oysters are literally the best oysters we've ever had. After 10 days of oyster eating, they were starting blend together a bit, but not these! They were the perfect mix of briny and sweet. We also tried the heron island - it was also good, but they are not kidding when they say there is a powerful brine! It's enough to add a few hairs to your chest! Can't remember what we got for the third kind, but they were also delicious lol. I got a banh mi with tofu instead of pork belly, and it was the best vegetarian dish I tried in Maine. The fries were on point. There was no wait, the service was super fast and friendly, and prices were reasonable. You can walk down the street from the shack to a cute little strip in Damariscotta. This was the perfect stop to break up our drive from Bar Harbor to Portland, I'm so glad we did! read more

Shuck Station - Oysters! - Seafood Near Me - Newcastle, Maine

Really enjoyed this stop. There's a great selection of oysters and they'll help you choose. The area is know for its oysters and you can get tours (I think these folks give them, as well). So you know your food is hyper-local. They were even cutting chives from the little garden they have when we were there. Fresh matters. I had the seafood chowder which was amazing. The potatoes just melt in your mouth with the cream of the shower and there's lots of bits of seafood and fresh, finely chopped veggies. I also had a side of station fries. Lots of flavor and perfectly cooked. My husband had the oysters and he should have tried their special but really was hankering for the Rockefeller, which he ate heartily. We absolutely would turn anyone on to this establishment. I didn't see indoors seating so get there before it gets too cold to sit outside!! read more

You must visit this place while either living or visiting Maine! We are from Florida but wanted to check out the Oysters here and WOW! We were blown away with not just the food but the staff too! It was the weekend before the location was closing for the season and I feel lucky we had Ava (the manager) as our bartender! She was on point, so friendly and the food was top notch. This was a good vibe. The menu is relatively inventive for an oyster place, offering things such as a Banh Mi sammy and a poke bowl, If Oysters are your jam, this place has what you're looking for. A great place for oysters owned by a local oysterman which highlights local oysters with a range of flavor profiles. I also found the service to be quite friendly when I've gone there, though this review is getting dinged for getting my order wrong, which then cost me money. Also, they've shifted all the seating to outdoor seating, so you can get cooked pretty well yourself depending on the sun position. The issue I had is that we got a two tier seafood tower, and a scallop ceviche separately. The only real difference between a two tier and three tier tier is 6 oysters and the ceviche, but we didn't want more oysters or to pay the $40 difference when ceviche is only $14. We got brought a two tier tower and tucked in, then realized there were too many oysters and realized what had happened. In any case, something else to be aware of is that these are local oysters with limited quantities. Go there late in the day and be prepared to have a limited selection left. read more

We were staying in Rockland (about 90mins away) and were given some tips on where to get the best oysters. The Shuck Station we were told was the place to go. Came on a Sunday at 2pm. Orders oysters of course! Taste of the river, sticky shrimp, smoked fish plate, seafood chowder, and chicken sandwich. Everything was super delicious. Especially the seafood chowder and the oysters. We arrived just when the band was starting to play. Just really awesome experience and day. The Shuck Station was a stop worth driving for. read more
