Great fish, not greasy. The lemon dill tater sauce so good. Cash only so be prepared Fish in a dish

This is a must stop I was first in line for opening up at 11:00 great price huge portion, I had to take some of the haddock off of my sandwich just to get it in my mouth do not skip this gem you will not be disappointed!

We've been trying to come to Bet's for about three years, but every time we try, they've sold out of fish and had to close early. This time, we made it! The fish was amazing. I do, however, have two complaints that keep it from getting five stars: first, there was a sign which read, "No French fries today, too hot." I've worked in kitchen. Yes, it gets hot, having to constantly drop fry baskets. But it was barely 80 degrees outside. It was really disappointing to set out for "fish and chips" and discover that there are no chips. Second, there was no price adjustment given for half of the menu being unavailable. A "small fish and chips" (being a 1/2 pound of fish and a side of fries), is the exact same price ($12) as a "small fish in a dish", which is just a 1/2 pound of fish. logically, there should be some sort of difference in price. But, the food was fantastic, the ladies were friendly, and the long line moved very quickly. Hopefully next time they will feel like cooking fries!

Bets is always your best bet for fried haddock and fries!!! Make sure you bring a big appetite though!!

If you are staying in Boothbay Harbor this place is an absolute must! Worth any line or long travel. The Haddock was incredibly fresh and flaky. Just the right amount of batter. Nice crispy crust. Perfectly tasty fries. Comes with tartar and dill sauce. I am a malt vinegar fan and they put it in spray bottles which makes it easy to coat your fish. Picnic area is nice and clean and offers both sun and shade. If you are anywhere near this place you have to have it. Bet's simply is the best!

Best fish and chips ever- whole order was $18 but it was the Wednesday of windjammer festival. Whole order comes with two huge fillets- lightly breaded haddock! Plus a bowl of shoestring fries. Was fun to eat here at picnic tables. Shared two orders between the 4 of us.

Maine is known for lobster rolls, but it should be known for Bet's fish fry. Everything about my fish and fries was absolutely amazing and I'm just devastated we found it just a few days before they close for the season. Can not wait to eat again.

Does anyone know when Bet's closes for the season?

Well, I don't know when they official close, but they opened weekends last year during the winter when the the Botanical Gardens had their Christmas Light Show.

Booth Decay FKA "The…read moreBoothbay Region Lobstermen's Co-Op," is an actual working Lobster Dock that also happens to have a fast-casual restaurant and bar. We arrived after a day at the nearby Botanical Garden and were ready for our first Lobstah Roll back in Maine. The Good: *Happy Hour daily 3 - 5 p.m. *Clam Chowder was fine, but I thought it should be thicker for my liking. Carissa thought it was fine fwiw. *Fairly large parking lot that could get filled during busier times of the year, but parking was plentiful upon our visit. *Full bar with everything from spirits to local micro and macro brews on tap. *Amazing views from their dog-friendly outdoor dining. They also have some indoor dining upstairs during inclement weather. The Meh: *Service wasn't friendly at all from the order or pickup booth. In fact, I'd say it was downright sassy-- and not in a good way. When we asked for our lobster buttered and not dressed (i.e., mayo) we got a giant eyeroll from the maître d'. Why she cares is beyond me, since she's not doing much beyond taking orders. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *The bartender was slightly better service-wise, but she tends to disappear and you have to wait around for her to re-appear. *Fries were whatever, but at least they were cheap. *The Lobster was overcooked and chewy, which is disappointing. However, we will say they were very generous with the Lobster itself, as we both got fairly large pieces of claws. Pro Tip: If two people want a regular Lobster roll, you're better off ordering the large and splitting it. I'm pretty sure the large was at least double the meat of the regular, and it was only $10 more. *The roll they use for the roll didn't really hold up to the moisture, as it was fairly soggy by the time it reached our table. The Ugly: *They really have the gall to charge $2 for a tablespoon of melted butter. As if paying $40-50 for a sandwich isn't enough... 0_o Conclusion: Below avg lobstah roll with great views but grumpy Gus service. Hard pass.

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. C's looked pretty good actually so I am sure her experience was quite different than mine. I hope to never return. '25 - extra

Maybe because their reviews have indicated poor service, we experienced over-service: the floor manager checked in with us three times to see how we were doing in a rather obsequious manner which was very off-putting. Our very friendly server checked in with us 15 times (!) so much so that it was a bit irritating as she kept interrupting our conversation. I think that's about 7-8 times too many check-ins over the course of a 1.5 hour dinner. Now to the food which was all VERY expensive: - popover and butter (complementary) - 4/5 - clam chowder - 3/5, $13 for a cup of chowder is a LOT to pay and while i did enjoy the flavor overall, there was an addition (not mentioned in the chowder description) of a swirl of chili oil on the side of the chowder. I did not mix it into the chowder and realized later when I had a burning sensation across the middle of my tongue that it likely from a line of chili oil. This was not a pleasant sensation and for a while I wondered if I was having an allergic reaction to the chowder. It subsided after about half an hour. I'm not sure why adding chili oil to New England clam chowder is a good thing and it also wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu. If there had been no chili oil, I would have given the chowder a 5/5 for flavor. - 2025 Claw Down Winner Lobster Bite - 4/5, $18 is a LOT to pay for a tiny silver dollar pancake with some creme and a few bites of lobster on top. Maybe it's the caviar that drives that price but I did not think it was worth the cost (but it did meet my goal of having lobster every day in Maine) - goat cheese and peach salad - 5/5, I loved the tiny little fried goat cheese balls and the ratio of goat cheese to spring lettuce to peaches was good with a light dressing. I would have liked a little more greens and a little less radicchio in the spring lettuce ratio though. - halibut - 4/5, it was a sizable portion of halibut with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Half of the halibut was done well and flavorful, the edges composing the other half though was rather dry and lacking in flavor. Curious. - scallops - 5/5, five scallops which were very flavorful with a celery puree and three halves of a baby carrot. Delicious but minimalist for sure in its size and presentation. this was the best item we had along with the salad. Note 1: we saw all the other tables receive an amuse bouche which looked like a shooter of something but despite all the check-ins from the floor manager and our server we somehow did not receive the amuse bouche. Note 2: It was chilly so we changed our reservation last minute to move into the dining room as opposed to sitting on the deck, which we were very glad about as it did not appear they have any heaters on the deck which we definitely had in the past times we've dined on the deck when it wasn't even as cold as 60 degrees (as it was last night) For the price and over-service (my husband tried to avoid engaging with the floor manager for the third time when we exited the restaurant but we were intercepted), and good but not great food, I'm not sure we'll be making a point to return to Coastal Prime next time we're in town.

The interior looks a bit old and run down. We had lunch here with friends and everything started out OK with ordering, but things went down hill. First, cocktails were weak and not very good. I had a margarita which tasted like straight up mix from a bottle, little or no tequila. Essentially not drinkable. Our friends ordered a bowl of chilli and a shrimp entree, while we ordered a couple of sushi rolls. Our friends food was delivered promptly, but our sushi was not served for another solid 10+ minutes. Server never came, so eventually I went in to find her after 10 minutes went by without food. She was nowhere to be found, so I mentioned this to another waiter, who looked confused, and said he would let her know. A few minutes later she came and said that sushi takes long to prepare. No apology, and by that time our friends were just about done with their lunch, when our rolls came out. All in all, the food was not pretty good, but the experience was poor. My mom and I split the seafood platter which was perfect for us as it comes with potato's and veggies. You have the option to get it fried, grilled, broiled, or blackened. We got it grilled but wished we got it blackened. I had never had a cooked oyster before and it was sooooo delicious.
