Burt fries (see photo), stale coleslaw, and nicely cooked haddock. This lunch was disappointing at best, a waste of money at worst.

Burnt fries (see photo), stale coleslaw, and nicely cooked haddock for the half haddock basket. At best this meal was disappointing, at worst it was a waste of money.

I'm always looking for gluten free fried seafood, and Sea Basket did not disappoint. We did have to ask a couple times though, and then talk to the manager, as the front of the house was sure "no one had gotten sick" but couldn't confirm that the fryers were clean. Don't worry, they are! She just wasn't aware of that. So safe gluten free fried seafood!! We got the fried clams and the fried shrimp. The portions were huge and they tasted amazing. The fries were good, typical fare. Definitely a place to go, whether you need your fried seafood to be gluten free or not!

Outside eating ... right next the highway .. lobster roll was very tasty , tender on a bolio roll. Chicken sandwich was moist served with a farm fresh sliced tomato.

2nd time having Sea Basket was better than the first. It was a better choice to dine in rather than get take out to avoid things getting soggy or losing it's crispiness. Shared a mixed seafood platter, half pound lobster on a long roll (bigger than a hot dog bun) and bowl of seafood stew. It is pricier but I felt it was worth the price for the high quality food. The seafood baskets are huge, lobster roll loaded, and the stew has large chunks of lobster meat. I prefer the original fried breading over the spicy. Service was fairly quick. Looks like they had lots of fun ice cream flavors too. We had some special local sodas including blueberry.

Frank, Linda, Alicia and the rest of their wonderful family (and friends) serve excellent lobster and crab rolls, with the same lobster as that place across the street, but the difference-maker the rolls that are butter-crisped on both sides, giving them some delightful added crunch. I get them with mayo and butter on the side and add as I like. (I read the review that said that they "only serve clarified butter"...really?) I usually get the lobster dinner, once or twice per day. A lb of steamers or mussels, a whole lobster, Cole slaw, corn and dinner roll. Absolutely delicious food at its peak of freshness, served dockside beside the Sheepscot River where you enjoy spectacular scenery in the company of other really nice people with a similar taste in great food. And they serve the delicious locally-made Gifford's ice cream for after your dinner. I've never been disappointed, and I've already made my reservations for the same condo next year when I will enjoy Sprague's once again.

A lot of reviews are from people who came here because they didn't want to wait in the long line for the place across the street and they said the lobster roll here was good. We wanted our review to be fully informed, so we got a lobster roll here and we also got one from the place across the street. While the line across the street is absurdly and unnecessarily long, we've determined now that that place is famous for a reason. Prices are the same, high $30s. The actual lobster was fine at Sprague's, comparable to the place across the street. The butter though was not even a competition. I don't know how they do it, but the butter from the place across the street was just so much better. Sprague's butter just did nothing for the lobster roll. It was clear and just looked like clarified butter. Do with this information what you will.

Unfortunately, not this time. I started with Westpoint oysters which were superb, maybe my best raw oysters ever. I usually then order the sprouts but decided to go back to a previous favorite of mine from my dinners there in '22 and '23, the mussels, which had been served then with some epic sourdough toast which made them a 5-star because you could sop up the delicious broth and still have a delightful crunch. Unfortunately they now only are served with some sourdough bread discs, which just get saturated and soggy. Not at all the same experience. Most of that wonderful broth was wasted. Then, the lobster risotto, which had always been scrumptious. Unfortunately, the chefs got heavy-handed with the cheese in the risotto so that the taste of the sweet lobster chunks was overpowered rather than complimented as it was in every previous year. I spoke with Shane, their very personable and capable manager about the mussels(or clams) and lack of toast so hopefully that will change by next year when I return. It's still a great restaurant with a wonderful view of the Sheepscot River, a destination experience.
