This place has incredible potential. My review really is somewhere between a 3 and 4 but I am rounding it up because I truly hope they stay in business and are able to work out some of the kinks. The menu was varied and it was really nice to have some Spanish tapas flare in between a thousand fried clam shacks. The atmosphere was relaxed and quaint with a romantic backyard magic. I was simultaneous transported far away while still feeling the New England charm of dining in the forest. Our meals were decent enough- we ordered a salmon burger, the watermelon gazpacho and a salmon salad. The salmon burger was good, but it was literally just a sandwich on a plate. No fries, no sides, zilch. For close to $20. The salmon salad was the best part of the meal. It was cooked to perfection with a quail egg, gorgeous baby greens. Really good. The watermelon "gazpacho" needs to be removed from the menu. If not removed, then served as a drink. It was cold clear liquid with three or four corn nuts floating in it. For our dining experience, things went down hill due to the service. We went on a Tuesday night- so it was pretty quiet. Our waitress didn't write anything down any time she spoke to us and inevitably screwed up everything we ordered, every single time. It seemed almost too ridiculous to be true, She brought the wrong drinks, in the wrong sizes. She brought us something we didn't order. We would get to the end of saying what we wanted and she would repeat it back 100% wrong. It was actually sort of interesting to try and imagine where her mind was at. I think this was their first summer in business and I hope it is not their last. Damariscotta is a tough town to "make-it" in as a new restaurant and I hope they find their quiet tourists who are looking to step away from the chaos downtown. We are excited to go back next year and see how things are going!

Cozy and charming, with great caring service and delicious food. We had dinner on a Wednesday evening, and the place was quietly busy. One of our party had a food allergy, and rather than limit her, the chef made a special effort, sending out separate bread service and making substitutions. The Caesar salad was excellent. The fish entree, mahi mahi, was perfectly prepared, moist and flavorful. The Brazilian beef special was massive but so good my husband devoured every bite. We will be back to try paella, which another patron recommended highly!

The Seafood Chowder is possibly one of the best things I've ever had (and I've had my fair share of food). It was made fresh and such a nice size portion. They brought complimentary GF bread and hummus, Caesar salad was also great and our coconut curry mahi was soooo good. This spot has a cool vibe, delicious food, and great service. They also had really good gluten free options!

The books on the patio and the name of the business.

Food was delicious and they even made slight changes for us. Server, Christy, is super sweet. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed out food and the music. There are also picnic tables in the lawn. Very cute place

Great new place in Damariscotta, an absolute jem! The food, ambiance and service were amazing. Do not miss this place, literally nothing like it in the region. You will be blown away by the food!

**November 2025: Friday Early Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I were wandering Wiscasset and were in need of a restroom. We couldn't find one and decided to dine in to use their facilities. I think we were among the first diners and realized that the restaurant was really nice and had such a wonderful view of the water. Our server was incredibly kind and hospitality. She informed us that the soup of the day was clam chowda to which both of us wanted right away. The chowda was flavorful and had a good amount of clams (many other restaurants choose to load it with potatoes, but not this one!). The soup does lean more brothy versus gravy-like which is a personal preference but taste wise it was still soothing. The menu had a lot of really great seafood options so I decided to try their Maine mussels. Our waitress said that the broth was really wonderful and would pair nicely with garlic bread which I also ordered. The entrees came out pretty quickly and the serving size of my mussels was double what I thought it would be. The mussels looked massive and the meat was as fresh mussels should taste. It was an excellent dish. The garlic bread would be a great vessel to soak up the mussel broth, but I felt that the bread was a little thin and slightly over-toasted to really soak up the broth. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the overall experience and it does feel like a local spot.

We ordered a mezze platter with tzatziki, skordalia and a cuke and tomato salad, served with pita that tasted like it was made in house. My husband enjoyed the lamb and pork ragu served over polenta and shared my entree, the evening's special - a stuffed eggplant that was the best preparation of thIs humble vegetable I can remember. Stuffed with red lentils and crispy mushrooms, it was outstanding, especially with the addition of the tzatziki. Didn't reallt have room for dessert, but we were on a roll The baklava was delicious - loaded with nuts, of course, but not dripping syrup, which meant that the filo pastry was crisp. A thoroughly wonderful meal, with friendly service in a beautiful room. We live in CT, which has a dearth of Greek restaurants. Easy free on street parking located near many breweries on nearby Fox street. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive . Not a lot of beers available, but both local for on tap. Had delicious IPA from Goodfire and tried the imported bottle Greek beer which was awesome and refreshening. My wife had a glass of wine which she really liked and the waiter was helpful in helping her decide based on her wine preferences. For food we ordered hash browns which were good flavor and two Gyros- tofu variety for my vegetarian wife and I had the chicken. The pita and tzatziki and all ingredients in the Gyros tasted super fresh and both tofu and chicken were well cooked. It was so good I almost ordered a second one! Will definitely be back for their daily happy hour and to try out more of what they offer. Downside is cost-is a bit more expensive at 70+ dolllars for 1 wine, 2 beers and the food above, but it was very good!

I selected Opa because of the other great reviews and I like Mediterranean food. I was greeted with a warm welcome as soon as I came in and sat at the bar. I initially got a Greek coffee which was made to order, hot and delicious. Ava, the bartender, was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I couldn't have asked for more. I ordered the falafel dish and was quickly brought a plate of warm bread and olives in oil. Both were outstanding! Looking over the menu, I noticed they had a few Greek wines so I asked Ava about one interesting one that had hints of fig and tobacco. She immediately poured me a sample to taste and it was delicious so I got a glass. My meal came and it too was really outstanding. Every bite was delicious. To add to my experience, Ava put the Bob Ross channel on the TV above the bar so I got my art experience too. Later, the chef came out and talked to me for a while about travelling to Greece to really study the cuisine. He was clearly continuing to immerse himself in the culture to further perfect his already highly skilled craft. I would highly recommend Opa. What a wonderful total experience.

The menu experience was smaller/limited options but offered "greatest hits" so that you didn't miss out on the overall experience. With seats right up at the counter and in perfect view of the kitchen, the team whipped out a coursed/well-timed menu. We enjoyed the chickpea fries, spread + breads, moroccan carrots, falafel, halloumi and to top it all off, the lamb ribs. It was so aggressive in the best way possible. The cocktail menu is fun, inventive and pairs well with most of the dishes. Their NA drinks were thankfully, not boring either. The only drawback for me here is the counter-top/high-top dining experience is the only available seating option unless you're participating in the upstairs private area. The restaurant is clearly very sleek and modern, but I felt like it took away from the experience of making this particularly special. Other friends have raved about it and it's easy to see why this is a special place. Since we were booked for 8:30pm and it was the solstice, we had the good fortune of wandering out on the deck with our delicious cocktails to watch the sunset. The view is absolutely glorious out over the water--honestly you can't do better than this for summer perfection! Back at our table, we commenced to order all of the following to share: *house-made sourdough bread: this is not ordinary bread; it incorporated smoked paprika and fennel pollen somehow and was served soft and warm; if I had this daily I would be in heaven *steamed mussels: plump little salt/brine bombs with the perfect tender-just-ever-so-slightly-bouncy bite *little gem salad: basically their version of a wedge salad so OF COURSE we were getting it, and then we fought over the last of the roasted bacon croutons *3 pasta dishes: a lamb pappardelle, goat cheese ravioli, and pasta al limone with Maine crab meat (every single bite of every single one was delicious but the al limone with crab was out of this world) *halibut: yes we all just had pasta mains but no way were we passing up halibut in season; this was a lovely bright spring presentation with white beans, cucumber, and a tomato vinaigrette and cooked to perfection *dessert round! Even though we were full we made room for espressos, a chocolate gelato, and rhubarb crisp; no one was mad about this choice As is pretty clear, everything we had was delicious! What I love best is that in addition to being served the freshest and most in-season ingredients possible, the recipes really let them shine by not overcomplicating things, while still presenting some new combinations. Service was wonderful too (including a great wine recommendation for a bottle of red that worked with everything). And the overall vibe is wonderfully relaxed, and the space is somehow both airy and cozy. Yes, it's a splurge--but what you get is superlative, and quite honestly when we got our bill we were surprised it wasn't more, considering our big order! How good is Nina June? My friends and I made the reservation a month in advance when we knew we'd all be visiting the Midcoast from Portland. But now that I've been to this restaurant once, I'm already thinking about how to plan a quick getaway for the sole purpose of eating here again.
