Stopped as we continued our family vacation trip north. We were able to park on site and we had no wait on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The staff was incredibly friendly and the scenery and vibe could not have been better. My wife ordered the lobster stew and, after trying it, I immediately regretting not getting it for myself. Incredibly creamy and sweet and loaded with fresh lobster. I also recommend the bacon wrapped scallops. This is only my second 5 star rating but they deserve it. Wondering around and saw this place in the water and decided to give it a try. The hostess was very nice and gave us the low down You order at the bar and they bring your food to the table. We ordered a dozen oysters and the fish and chips. The oysters were so fresh and tasty. The fish and chips were large chunks of haddock in a very light coating with minimal spice but just perfect. The cries weee like the double breaded fried ones crisp and good too. The picnic tables are close to the water with nice views of the bay. Decor is open bar T the water style but just fine. My only complaint to a perfect meal is the ice tea tasted old or maybe it was the water they used. read more

We found this little gem on our travel route, exploring Pemaquid Point Lighthouse...after we explored the Lighthouse area (which was phenomenal) we doubled back to enjoy a late lunch. The food was wonderful, staff friendly and views amazing (we even watched an eagle and another bird battle in the air over a fish...the eagle won). Only reason for 4 stars is they needed more seating area for shaded seating and we felt were a tad pricey for the portions! Otherwise, highly recommend for great food and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere! read more

What a great place! We loved sitting inside with a nice breeze and a view of the bay. We ordered the lobster stew which was the best lobster stew I've ever had! We also ordered the large salad which was plenty to share. We also had the crab cake basket. The potato salad was awesome. Not mayonaisy at all. They make it themselves so I highly recommend getting the potato salad. The coleslaw also looked good. The crab cakes were so so. Went to Schooner Landing yesterday, a beautiful sunny late summer evening on the docks. Was greeted by Steve, the manager; probably one of the most friendly, warm, and welcoming individuals of the restaurant world. Lori, the hostest was so sweet she started chatting with me like we were old friends. This restaurant suffered a fire last year and Steve and the owners had worked tiredlesslsy to get this place back up and running for summer. It was awesome. Live music, salt water scenes, oysters on the half shell, and wholebelly clams. The quintessential rustic Maine beauty experience I invision in my mind, coming to life, and savoring with friends. We stopped in before an oyster cruise. Place is hopping and the sun is shining! We ordered our food and grabbed a table on the water. Drinks are wonderful and our food arrived quickly. I ordered crab cakes.. filled with crab! The fish basket disappeared on my husbands side of the table rather quickly! Nachos were huge and delish! Honestly I would have given this a three even if they served me literal sand for food, as the venue is on a great view of the Damariscotta river. The food was honestly just okay, but it's worth stopping to at least get a drink on the deck. read more

We ordered soup (cold), blackened tacos ( no blackened seasoning at all), haddock sandwich (came with nothing on it, even though I ordered lettuce, tomato, onion). Trying to find a waitress to fix these problems was impossible. On top of this, prices are expensive. I might go back for a sunset drink, but would never eat there again. read more

Mainly you're paying for the nice location right on the water. The lobster roll was a little overcooked, but otherwise it was Fine, nothing special. The steamers were plump and juicy and the fries were reasonably crisp. What is seems like going in basically -- a bit of a tourist trap. read more

I really had high hopes for this restaurant, but all it had going for it was the atmosphere. The weather here is awesome and everyone wants to be able to sit outside, view the water, listen to some good music and have fun. You can do that here. As far as the food, first there was really no customer service as you stand in line at the bar to order, go back to refill your drinks, someone drops your food off and that is really about it for customer service. We both ordered the sliders which were to be one fried fish, one crab cake and one cold lobster. The fried fish was VERY thin and tiny on the slider roll. The crab cake was cut in half, also thin, and mushy, and did not taste fresh. The cold lobster, there was not alot on the bun, it had zero flavor, and the lobster was rubbery. They came with a side of fries and they were very very hard and cold. We did enjoy the tartar sauce. All in all, for the price, we were less than impressed. read more

We initially came for the view. Stayed for lunch, and I looked at the reviews. I have NO idea why they are so bad! We ordered, fried clams with sweet potato fries - EXCELLENT, and lots of both! We also ordered fried Calamari, and lobster stew. Both were fantastic. The stew was tasty, with tons of lobster, the calamari, cooked to perfection. So happy we stayed! Don't be fooled and think this is an all out tourist trap. My daughter and I had a late-ish dinner...fried scallops and fries (think proper British chips...ask for malt vinegar, you won't be sorry). So good, we went there two days in a row. The view from the deck can't be beat. Our first trip had a great spot right next to the railing with a great server for dinner We had the lobster mac and cheese as well as the oyster po' boy and both were very good. The next day we found ourselves back there again at lunch time and were able to order things we'd thought about ordering the night before including the shrimp tacos. The only thing that marred that visit was a family at the next table with four young children who must have screamed Calamari 100 times and argued with each other while tossing their drinks in the river. Parking is plentiful but a little tight and when we were there, there were plenty of tables available. read more

We stopped here for a quick snack. Ordered a crab roll and a haddock sandwich that both came with chips. It's easy to just walk in and order at the bar and they provide a number and seating is wherever is available. We picked our spot by the water and food came out quick. The tarter sauce was so delicious with the haddock and it held us over for dinner later on. The vibe was chill and I loved the view of the harbor. Staff were friendly and we are glad we made this pit stop on our way back from Pemaquid beach. read more

Totally upgraded in terms of food - - surprised and pleased! This place went from very good (many years ago) to mediocre (a few years ago) to super solid (today, 2020). Everything we had was well made and fresh. Fried whole clams were delicious and bursting with flavor, while the lobster rolls were huge and chock full of lobster meat (butter on the side) -- treat yourself to the double size! Clam chowder was our favorite, made just the way it should be with plenty of clams and a thin, milky base. Raw oysters from Pemaquid - hyper local - were cold, fresh, and sweet. Hopefully the kitchen and management continue to take the food seriously, and then I'll be back for sure! read more

Oh, don't let the locals sway you from coming here saying it's a "tourist trap." They have the best views in town- sitting out on the deck in the summer time (before the bugs come out..) is one of my favorite ways to pass an afternoon. The food has definitely improved over the last few years, although we often joke that they could be serving us slop an we would still come because it is such a great place to watch the river rise and fall. We particularly like the fried oysters (you'll swear off fried clams forever!) as well as the seafood stuffed haddock, and the lobster stew. Oh my, the lobster stew. We havent found anything like it anywhere else. In the winter we dream of how a bowl of it could warm the coldest New England winter. They also often have some good bands playing a wide variety of music out on the deck. Delightful spot. read more

This place has fallen off the wagon. Saying it was horrible would be to kind. For $25 bucks we had fish and chips. I was expected some nice well portioned haddock but got instead 4 haddock nuggets and cold fries. The oysters at $30 bucks a dozen where warm and tasteless which is pretty sad as the area is known for flavorful briny oysters. Go for a drink and enjoy the view, but save your money and eat somewhere else. read more

We had made reservations for the Harbor Room, when we got there, it was closed. Lesson learned. Schooner Landing has been a favorite for us for twenty years and last night it saved us! The older lady "greeting" everyone was anything but pleasant and far from friendly. It was a little upsetting the bar was out of a few of the beers and the lobster roll was cold and the drawn butter was luke warm. I ordered a dozen oysters and they were not shucked properly. Half of the oyster was still attached to the shell and their were pieces of shell in with the oyster. Not to mention the cup of water was murky and tasted like river water. I feel bad leaving such a horrible review but maybe they can improve on these issues. On a happier note, the clam chowder was good. read more

Venue is the best view on the river and one of the few in town on the water. Food is probably the worst of all the restaurants in Damariscotta. Been there many times always hopeful it has gotten better, unfortunately I can't even say the food is OK. Last meal I had there the swordfish was the special and when I asked if it was fresh not frozen it came highly recommended by the waitress. It was probably the worst swordfish i had ever tasted, so dry it was inedible . I did not eat more than a bite or two and when the waitress took it away never questioned why I hadn't eaten it it. My party thought there food was just OK. The bar outside on the water is great spot for drink and live music is a plus. Get a new chef and freshen the menu and you could have the best restaurant in town. read more

Stopped in for lunch, had to order your drinks and food in the line at the bar, then seat yourselves. Drinks were tasty, but food did not come out as ordered. Ordered an appetizer that came out all together with our meals and chicken nachos were missing the chicken. Unfortunately once they drop your food, that's the last contact unless you want anything else, then it's back to the line at the bar. If you sit at the bar, you do get service however. read more

Our oysters were served UNDER a bed of ice and water which is both unhygienic and pretty much destroys the salty flavor. One small slice of lemon for a dozen oysters is mean. We should have sent them back - but we didn't. Oyster stew was OK - not great. French fries were very good though. Overall very disappointing from a place that used to be very much better. read more

Great seafood on a working dock. Views are typical Maine harbor. Broiled scallops were tasty along with in-house made potato salad. Lobster salad was fresh. My kids really enjoyed the fried haddock sandwich. The table next to us had an order of mussels I'll be ordering next time! Good selection of local beers. Outdoor seating was plentiful. read more

very friendly staff with great food. started off with chicken nachos and bacon cheese fries which were both tasty. the nachos were not burnt and the cheese was perfectly melted. during the appetizers a storm rolled through. they moved us from outside to inside quickly. it was raining very hard. for dinner we had: blackened haddock, lobster wrap, and triple sliders. all items were fresh and prepared well. during dinner drink refills were delivered as needed. for dessert, we had the brownie sundae and strawberry shortcake. strawberries were warm. no complaints- was a great dinner with friendly service. thanks! read more
