Blueberry pie

Celebrated our anniversary here and it was a nice cozy way to round out another year together! It was right across the street from our bnb and was one of the few places in the area open in early April (harder to find than you think!) so was all in all very convenient. We tried the grilled Caesar, crab cakes, lazy lobster and baked haddock with crab stuffing, and the blueberry pie. Grilled Caesar: yum, all good things, no complaints Crab cakes: pretty good, but would have preferred a few more lumps to change up the texture a bit Lazy lobster: my partner really enjoyed this, especially the fettuccine Baked haddock: a bit bland overall and the crab stuffing was the same as the crab cake, so same thoughts there Blueberry pie: filling was delicious but crust was a bit salty for our taste. Servers were very kind and attentive, always filling our waters and checking in on us which was appreciated!

Mussels - worth ordering extra bread to dip in the sauce.

There are few restaurants that I have ever chosen to go to two nights in a row, and even less where I was completely impressed both times. We had the mussels (both normal and curry special), beet salad, seafood risotto, salmon, pork special, lobster brady, and blue berry pie dessert- all were excellent. If we were in town a third might we might have continued our tour through the menu another night with Amy providing great service throughout. (Didn't take pictures the first night)

Food awesome! Service, excellent! Wonderful Ambience! Actually perfect for us. And you can choose to sit outside, weather permitting!!!

Went here with our friends who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. My first time to this lovely historical sight. The atmosphere was warm & cozy with a fire burning in each room. The service was good & our waitress very pleasant & attentive. THE FOOD!! SO delicious! I had seared scallops over risotto - drizzled with maple glaze & bacon crumbles - oh my, so delicious! My husband & my friend both got the shrimp & chicken Alfredo over fettuccine, & her husband ordered the baked haddock - all delicious, lots of raves! I highly recommend this Inn and would definitely return if I'm ever in Booth Bay Harbor!

1/2 Duck with blueberry compote, wild rice and sautéed spinach.

UPDATE: We went back to the Thistle Inn the next evening and the food was just as good as our first evening. Our server, Amy was very good and professional. She even offered us plasticware since we were taking our leftovers with us back to our hotel for lunch the next day! This evening we had the 1/2 duck which was crispy outside and tender inside served with a blueberry sauce and wild rice (a change from couscous because of being gluten-free) and sautéed spinach. I was given the choice of white or wild rice. The wild rice sometimes has Worcestershire sauce in it which is something I cannot have due to a shellfish allergy but they assured me this batch was free of Worcestershire sauce and I had no reaction. My partner had the Pork Chop special and enjoyed it. We had two glasses of Malbec which paired well with our food. Amazing dinner this evening! Surprisingly notch meal in an out of the way location. We had the flavorful herbal Cioppino and the special which was a bone-in pork chop cooked perfectly (medium) and topped with cherry chutney as well as a light gravy served over mashed potatoes with broccolini. The cherry chutney was the perfect topping to the dish. Each bite was amazing. We each had a glass of Malbec to go with our meals. For dessert (based on other reviews) we just had to try the homemade carrot cake and we were not disappointed . . . we were very full, but not disappointed. It was moist and tasty and topped with fried shaved carrots. The service from Maria was perfect. We would definitely recommend the Thistle Inn restaurant to anyone traveling to this area.

We ate there last night and my wife became violently ill about 3 hours later. Now in the emergency room and they suspect food poisoning.

Struggling with my review of this restaurant. The menu is an odd mix of risotto, sushi, tapas and…read moreother dishes. While we enjoyed the food we ordered, our server was somewhat rushed, impatient with us, and clearly needed to turn the table FAST. This is a popular restaurant that does not take reservations, so we went early at 5:30 and had no trouble getting a table outside on the third floor deck. Our server arrived and asked for our drink order just as the menus were dropped, and we said we needed a minute. This was the first hint that she had no time for our nonsense! She did return a few minutes later to take our drink order and asked to place our appetizers. Drinks and apps came out lightning fast, clearly pre-made and sitting. The fried oyster appetizer was delicious. For dinner we tried the lobster risotto, which was much much better than I expected given the vibe of the restaurant. When it came time for dessert our waitress asked what we might want after reciting what they offered. We chatted for a moment among ourselves, which was apparently too long, and she huffed off saying she did not have time for this, and would return. Clearly they wanted the table, and for us to leave, so we did. I get it, Boothbay Harbor is busy and filled with tourists. Some of the restaurants (like this one, and their sister spot) don't even try hard with service. We've had some good as well as excellent dinner in this small town. There's no reason for such poor and rushed service. A shame as the food was pretty good. Don't expect to stay here more than 45 minutes or so for your dinner. Given our service experience, I think I'd be hard pressed to come back here.

Boathouse Bistro is one of our favorite spots whenever we're in Boothbay Harbor. In a town full of…read moretourist-heavy restaurants, this place stands out, and we've tried quite a few. Prices are fair given the location (you are in Boothbay, after all), and the quality and portions make it feel worth it. We've been in both summer and winter, and it's been a great experience each time. In the colder months, the indoor tables with harbor views feel extra cozy. In the summer, their rooftop deck has one of the best views in town. Service has always been friendly and attentive, even during busy times. Our go-to is the haddock sandwich. They use these massive pieces of fish, and it's always cooked perfectly. We've had it both fried and blackened -- both are excellent!

Therefore if you ever make to to booth bay harbor, blue moon is where you need to go!! Now be where they do breakfast brunch and lunch. They close like at 2pm. So get there before. The view of the harbor is amazing and you get excited about that. Then you order and some of the most fresh, deliciously consistent and perfect portion food comes out of the this little piece of heaven!! You order before you sit, space is limited yet so worth the wait. We went and sat in the back garden the first time which is cute but you miss the harbor view. The second time we got there before the opened so we were first in line. We sat outside on the harbor side. Picture perfect. But let's talk about the most important food. Blueberry pancakes with real Canadian maple syrup. I am ruined for life there will never be another blueberry pancake quite like it!! Then wait for it...crab omelette. Now you know I live my omelets and we make some good one in Cali. Well Blue Moon gets a Cali approval from me. Just enough crab meat not stingy and did I say how fresh this crab was!!! I love my Cali food for the freshness. Not all places in Maine had the freshness but Blue Moon had the freshness. A plus plus plus!!
