I expected a firm, crunchy, crusty sub roll. I got a skinny tube of extremely soft bread that was so small, the sandwich could not be closed so I had to eat it like an open-faced sandwich. Spectacular sub sandwich. I'm a little sensitive on salt so I went without pickles but I had the great Double Down sub and it was simply fantastic. Stumbled upon this place at lunch. It is one block up from the main shopping drag so we would have missed it if we hadn't ventured onto Townsend Ave. LOVED this place. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband ordered another sandwich (can't remember which). It wasn't the biggest but it was the BEST lobster roll I ever had and I've had plenty! What made it special was the lack of a ton of mayo and lots of great lobster, and an excellent, house-baked sub roll - not the usual grilled hot dog bun. We both still talk about that bread and the owner's involvement in making the sandwiches. To top it all off, there is a bar in the back overlooking the water that make this such a special, low-key place that I can't wait to visit again. read more

Was told this was the place to get a sub, boy was that wrong. We ordered (2) pit stops and a lobster sub. Was told there was no bacon or roast beef left, understandable. Asked to replace bacon with ham, they confirmed "Ham, lettuce, tomato & mayo." Asked for one with no tomato and one with no mayo to go. Lobster sub is half as long as the regular subs, only saving grace as it was good. The other two turned into standard ham with cheese, one labeled no tomato and other no onion. Both were made wrong and one person in our party can't eat cheese. Do not recommend. read more
