Whenever I'm in the area, it's a must that I stop and enjoy the most charming spot in Boothbay Harbor, Maine: the Red Cup Coffeehouse. Today we order and split the Blueberry Cinnamon Bun and the Iced Salted Carmelita which were both super delicious and super fresh. A true taste of Maine at its finest. I appreciate their mission statement that their coffee is "Produced sustainably with regard to environmental impact, without the use of non-organic fertilizers and pesticides". Not only were the food beverages tasty, but they were served with so much pride and joy, that it was a pleasure to visit again - as briefly as it was. Love love love this place. Delicious coffee and scrumptious breakfast options. They have a limited pastry selection but make up for it with a good bagel and breakfast sandwich assortment. The breakfast burrito was a surprise hit. The beans (baked?) were such a treat. My sammie kept me full all morning. Order at the window and wait for your name to be called. Grab a seat at one of the few tables out front of be prepared to eat on the go. Done be dismayed if there is a line-it moves fast and your food and coffee will be worth the wait. We spent a long weekend in Boothbay Harbor, Me. We went here our first morning figuring the line outside was promising. We waked there for our coffee every morning and enjoyed their yummy Maine blueberry muffins. We never tried their breakfast food but it looked good. Nearly inedible blueberry muffin, we had the blueberry cinnamon roll the day before which was good so we figured we would try the muffin, so dry and it just tasted " off" not to mention the ridiculous prices. The coffee is average not sure why there's a line for this place. read more

We came here on a Saturday mid-morning and the place was BUSY. Despite the long queue winding through and around the full tables, the staff remained friendly and efficient through each transaction. When it was our turn, we didn't feel hurried at all! Grabbed a large cold brew, a croissant filled with nutella, and an almond croissant filled with marzipan. The coffee was great -- I wish there had been a pitcher of alternative milk available on the DIY area (with the lids, stirrers, and stuff), but there was only whole and 1/2 and 1/2. It seems soy or almond is a $1.00 upcharge (a bummer when you just want a splash for your iced coffee). I also wish that the area with baked goods had been labeled - I would have loved to have known what was what, and if anything was gf or vegan. Finally, it's such a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere but that leads to A LOT of big groups and strollers taking up floor space. Part of the confusion with the line was genuinely no one knew where it started or how to get to it because of the obstacle course the room had become. Overall, I did like this place though! I found it charming and was impressed with how the staff handled the never ending line of people. I'd probably come much earlier next time (also, skip the almond croissant and go directly for the nutella filled one -- #yourewelcome)! read more

The coffee (iced latte with salted caramel syrup and oatmilk) was smooth and delicious. There's a wheel of choices you can spin to pick your syrup option or just pick on your own but beware not to get overwhelmed as there are so many choices. As a NYer I wasn't sure about the toasted bagel and scallion cream cheese but, to my surprise it was amazing. Went there today. I ordered a latte and bagel with cream cheese. The latte was perfect. The bagel was acceptable but nothing special. The service was efficient. The person taking orders was nice. The person who fulfilled my order was nice. I did notice that person taking online orders seemed grumpy. This is not a place where you can sit inside. The owners work here every day, and they work hard to keep things running smoothly, keep customers happy, and keep the place clean. Wow! Such a great tomato sandwich. Got one for my wife and one for me on gluten free bread. Really tasty, simple, and fresh. How anyone gave this place any amount of stars beyong 2 is beyond me. Everything is pre-made, from the pre baked eggs that they slap on "homemade" sourdough to the egg borrito that has pre made eggs to what is clearly canned beans.
