Great location facing the bay and right next to the Footbridge. Had the daughter of the owners as our server and she was super friendly and super sharp. All beers were full size pints and the same price so ordered the Belgian beer and it was just fantastic. My visit summed into one word would be "weird". The inside was empty at arrival time but it was nice out so we sat outside. Our main waitress (Angie) seemed like she wanted to be nice but was bothered by something that was fighting through. She was a semi rude interaction with the table next to us that caught my attention but it wasn't me so I left it alone. Another staff had a rude interaction eye roll hand thing to a different customer during the time we were there but again it wasn't me. My son had two bites of the grilled cheese and said it was too burnt didn't want it. She came over to ask how it was we told her she offered to make another and that was it. Most places offer to takeoff menu but no big deal. When ordering the pretzel we said we didn't like beer sauce would only like the mustard. Well beer sauce came out was untouched and charged for. Ok not arguing for $3. Lastly still had our plates in front of us and instead of asking if we wanted any more drinks or dessert she starts ringing us up asking for card with total. I had to tell her I would like dessert which she typed in and then still asked for card. There were no drink refills offered throughout the entire meal as well. Maybe they focus on beers more than food but either way it ruined the experience for me. Service goes a long way and there definitely needs to be some additional training...The food was hit or miss. The pretzel was good depending on your taste for the sauces. The burnt ends flavor was really good but really fatty and not really burnt. The grilled cheese had potential but needed more butter and less time getting dark (or burnt). The steak sandwich was the winner of the day easily. The bbq pizza depending on the bite was either great or inedible. There was some type of rancid I'm assuming cheese sprinkled on top that was not listed that ruined it for me. It was almost like a garlic tart mixture of something. Again, the food hit or miss. The service was the same as well. Those combined made this review sadly this low. read more

First time trying this place out and it had a good vibe and plenty of patrons. It has an extended room with darts available. They have a nice selection of craft beer and mixed libations. Simple food is also available but we didn't try it. I tried the hazy IPA which had a grapefruit flavor to it and we also had a mixed vodka drink that was refreshing. Second time here, on our vacation away from Florida. Great brewery. Each beer tastes different than the other. Full bodied taste; you almost don't need a meal with them. Pretzel and cheese was great. Cool brewery in the downtown at the end of a cool footbridge that goes across the water. Decently sized place lots of places to sit. Cool bar games too and decor around the place. Service was slower but we weren't in any kind of rush. Server gave us great recommendations on the menu pulled pork sandwiches and some salty taters. We travel all the time and NO everyone does not come to Maine to eat the "Lobstah". It's refreshing to see someone put a lot of hard work into a product that is outside the normal in. Space that is dominated by seafood. We have ate here twice in three days and would have ate a third time if it was not closed on Tuesday's. The owner has a passion for slow cooking meat and yes it's funny but until you tried smoking meat, you will never understand. The building is a refurbished IT/Marketing company and has an old school charm. You can smell the smoke walking through the parking lot. The food is a 100 and the drinks match. You can find Footbridge Brewery & Bridgehouse BBQ right on the water in Boothbay - 25 Granary Way, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. There's some parking right by the brewery but I was there during off-season - probably will need to park along the streets above and walk down. Interesting little brewpub that also serves barbecue (first BBQ I've tried in Maine so had no expectations). The interior is a bit low as the place is in a basement with rooms that extend towards the other side of the building. There's also seating outside that extends down towards the water. There's a bar along the leading wall and the place was fairly busy - tables extend into other rooms with a bathroom at the very back (still had the original 30's era tile). For beer I loaded up a flight of 4 from the menu: * Why So Blue Blonde Ale 4.9% ABV - 3.5/5 Fairly tasty crushable sour with blueberry notes, slightly floral finish. Well balanced and fairly clean. * Rattlin' Bog Fruited Gose 5% ABV - 4/5 Nice cranberry sour with a touch of salt in the otherwise clean finish. * Struberry Rarbarb Farmhouse Ale 6.5% - 4/5 Light wheaty farmhouse with fruity strawberry nose, fairly easy drinking, crisp finish. * Raw Nordic Raw IPA 6.5% ABV - 3.5/5 They listed this as a "Nordic Raw IPA" - earthy, bready body with a bitter finish, a bit odd and very dry. For dinner I had the Brisket Tray - 1/3rd pound of beef brisket with two sides - I choose the Gumbo-style Greens and Cole Slaw. Tray also came with a slice of cornbread. I thought the BBQ good with a fair amount of rind but I'm used to it being sliced a bit thicker so it seemed dry to me. I ordered two sauces - one was a mustardy sauce but it definitely wasn't Carolina style - more a loosened up yellow mustard. The other was a Maple and Bourbon sauce which was sweet and a bit odd - honestly I didn't much care for either (they also charged for the extra sauce). I'm not sure if these are sauces that are common the Maine? I did like the slaw and greens so they made up for things a bit. Service was excellent - you order at the bar and they deliver to your table. read more

This is a very casual spot where you place your order for food and drink at the counter, and then it is delivered to you when ready. There are a variety of seating options from long community tables to cozy couches, etc... We enjoyed a flight of beer, some very interesting, some not quite to our liking, but overall very good. Prices felt reasonable for the offering and pours. With regard to food, I can never resist a pretzel on the menu and these were hot and good, but not great. The same can be said for the BBQ sampler plate we ordered, again the bbq was good, but we've had better. I found all the BBQ meats had a seasoning on them (perhaps the dry rub) that I didn't really love. Again, nothing bad here at all, but I can't say I loved any of the food served to me. What a wonderful pairing this is, combined with a view of the water! You have indoor and outdoor seating available, and a variety of seats inside, including at the bar. There's a nice variety of beers, plus backstory on them and the brewery. The bbq only makes it better. You can order both at the counter, pick up your beer at the other end, and your meal will be delivered to you. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, which was messy good (my top compliment), with more than enough meat inside plus pickles and a sauce that enhanced the flavor. The cole slaw was pretty good too, but I regret not ordering the gumbo greens, which were amazing. Those will definitely be my side of choice during future visits, and I have to hope I can learn to make them as well at home as theirs. There's lots of dining options in Boothbay Harbor. With the exception of seafood dinners, I don't need to go anywhere else for lunches or dinners. read more

I stopped by here this past Sunday with my wife for some afternoon drinks. We happened to be in Boothbay and I was ecstatic whenever I checked Yelp and found out that there was a new brewery in town. So we headed on over to Footbridge Brewery. The inside of this place is warm and welcoming with lots of natural light, concrete floors and red brick walls. The first room that you walk into has the bar, brewing equipment, board games, a lounge type area and other seating as well. Then behind that there was a room which had the Pats game on. We tried to play Yahtzee which was sitting around but were disappointed whenever there wasn't any scoring paper and only 4 dice. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a fight here. At Footbridge Brewery you get to choose 4 beers and so I went with the Salty Dogs (Gose), Fisherman's Thumb (NEIPA), Reds Rye (Rye Ale) and Super Hoppy Monster (DIPA). The first beer that I tried was the Salty Dogs which started off tasting a bit sour before having the dryness really kick in at the finish. Second was the Fishermans Thumb which had that piney New England flavor before a nice amount of hops at the finish. Third was the Reds Rye which started off smooth and had a nice caramelly finish. I don't know that I got any Rye at all but I still enjoyed it. Last but certainly not least was the Super Hoppy Monster which a smooth DIPA with hops from start to finish but not too bitter or harsh. Out of the bunch my favorites were the Reds Rye and the Fisherman's Thumb. The bottom line for me is that I would stop back here again in the future. All of the beers that I tried here were good and it seems like it would be a fun place to hang out. read more
