We had a wonderful dining experience here and recommend this restaurant highly. All of the food we ordered was very tasty, our server couldn't have been better (thanks Calli) and the atmosphere and vibe was perfect for an evening at the harbor. Let's quickly get down to the good specifics. The raw oyster appetizer was just right for us: fresh, briny, large oysters (mere points, $36). The lobster bisque was thick, lots of lobster pieces ($12). The clam chowder not quite heavy enough for our preference but good and filled with of clams. Our added bonus was the yummy spinach and artichoke dip ($17). The 1 1/2 pound lobster for dinner ($39) was delicious; tasted as if hauled aboard only a few hours ago. Add in a plate of fried scallops ($34) and a Thai crunch bowl ($19) and we were thoroughly and completely satisfied. Oh yeah, a few good beers, too. Calli kept our drinks refilled and was a constant model of efficiency and good humor. The restaurant has a patio and pretty open dining inside right on the harbor. Conversation is lively but never overwhelming perhaps because it is open. We made a reservation which we'd recommend. In summer it obviously gets very busy. As it should be.

Came here on a Sunday at noon for a bite. They have a nice beer selection, and a beautiful porch outside. However, it was full so we ate inside. We ordered the lobster bisque , haddock bites, I had a sandwich, the fish tacos, and the fried clam bellies. The lobster bisque was OK not the best I've ever had. The haddock bites were fried crispy and very tender. The taco dish had two tacos with maybe chipotle mayo, but not very spicy quite good. The fried clams were amazing. They could have given us more of them, but they were very tender and large not just a little strips but the whole clam. They had a sandwich was Massive. There was a choice between blackened, fried or grilled, and my dining companion got the blackened. She said it was quite good. It is a real piece of fish. It came with fries as did all of the dinners. The fries were double fried and crispy. I thought it was a good meal.

Hungry after a whale watch trip, we saw this place and since we have had enough seafood and wanted something else, this menu worked. Took awhile to attract a server, but once they came, service was good. The beer menu is extensive and I found a brown ale which was good. The menu has lots of good choices, and my husband and I settled on splitting the cheesesteak with fries. Food came very fast and was nice and hot. The bread was fresh and the meat was tender. I would have liked more cheese, but it was still good. Fries were also nice and hot and enjoyable. All in all, a good sandwich.

Love this place with a very friendly service. Chowder was so good, and Boothbay lobster dinner was exceptionally prepared. Oysters were okay, shrimps were perfect. Wine was poured generously in the glass and it paired perfectly with the food. Next time you're in town, don't miss the Boothbay lobster dinner, it was $39 end of December market price and it was soooo well worthed. Ambiance was great.

I come here all the time they make one of the best painkillers I've ever had and the tuna crispy rice is to die for. Sometimes they are busy, but they are always nice and take the time to tell you about the specials. I can highly recommend this place and have been at least five times this summer already.

Food: exactly as expected for a coastal fried food eatery. It was much better eating in than our takeout experience a few years ago. The batter on the haddock bites was flavorful and they were just right. The cole slaw tasted a bit different and the flavor grew in me - I couldn't stop eating. Ambiance: we sat outside and enjoyed beautiful views overlooking the harbor. On a beautiful day there were lots of happy customers enjoying food and drinks around us. Service: service was great. They weren't filling the tables because they didn't want to overwhelm the kitchen staff and the servers seem to split tables in various areas which makes it tough to get consistent and speedy service. However our service was friendly and we weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind the delays.

Mcseagulls is my new favorite restaurant in the Harbor! Major upgrades have been done to the food, drink menu and interior recently and everything is spectacular! Lexi the host is so kind and gives the perfect first impression to the visit. Tyler behind the bar is so knowledgeable about everything food beverage and he really knows how to take the dining experience to the next level. The cheesesteak is one of the best I've ever had and the Tuna Crispy Rice is another major favorite. This restaurant is perfect for lunch or dinner because the menu has a perfect level of variety. Definitely recommend! 10/10

First time I had the lobster roll with butter. Nicely crisped warm roll with a VERY generous portion of lobster topped with a large whole claw meat. Fresh and sweet - so delicious! I squeezed lemon into the hot butter, and poured it over the lobster. Husband had the crab roll - again very generous portion - and sooooo goooood! Wonderful flavor! Second time we visited, we both had the lobster roll with mayo. Again, a very generous portion topped with a large whole claw meat. What we especially liked was that it wasn't swimming in mayo, but just enough to lightly coat the meat so the true flavor shines through. A true Maine lobster roll and so reasonably priced! Staff is so friendly and you can tell they have a lot of pride in what they offer. It was like having a picnic with a nice view of the water and 1901 Footbridge. If you are a true lobster roll lover, I encourage you to sample SJ's! You will not be disappointed!

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. C's looked pretty good actually so I am sure her experience was quite different than mine. I hope to never return. '25 - extra

For $100 (cash or check only), you receive a 55-minute narrated boat tour, a bonafide Downeast feast (fish chowder, 1 lb. of steamers, 2 lobsters, corn on the cob, a baked potato, an onion, a hard-boiled egg, a large piece of blueberry cake & either coffee, tea, iced tea or water). You can purchase sodas ($2) or alcoholic beverages. We indulged in the light & tasty Cabbage Island Aide ($10), with Pinnacle blueberry vodka, pink lemonade & a splash of club soda garnished with Maine blueberries. Only cash is accepted for drinks and gift shop purchases. After finding a picnic table, either indoors or out, your server will take your drink order & bring your fish chowder. Shortly afterwards, the dinner bell will ring & you head down to the pit where the food is cooked to pick up your meal. We couldn't have asked for better service. There is a gratuity jar on each table. Tip generously! These kids do a fabulous job! We were also pleased that the two Moore brothers who have owned this family business for 38 years stopped by every table individually to ensure that all were having a good time. And at the end of the day, they stood on the dock waving as our boat left Cabbage Island. Such a gracious gesture! I'm looking forward to making this an annual event.
