We ate there, inside, as it was sprinkling outside. The bakery has a nice selection. The seating is quaint and if a nice day, you can eat outside on their patio. OK, I'm worried about telling you about this place because it is SO good that I'm not sure I want to share it. Let's just say everything we tried was good and they have a whole selection of gluten-free pastries, and a whole section of gluten plus pastries They have a turkey club that I don't want to share with anyone. This place was so good!! We navigated here for breakfast on our way from Portland to Acadia. We ordered a cinnamon bun and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant to split. Both items were super good!! Apparently the cinnamon rolls are some of their more popular items. There is lots of seating outside but it ended up being a bit hot for that for us. I have been back for a few things since, but on the advice of a friend, I went all in for breakfast! And it was so very good. I opted for an egg sandwich on an everything bagel with cheddar. A group of us were in Freeport this morning in the middle of a roadtrip and we decided to stop at The Bakeshop for breakfast. One of us is gluten free, and it can be challenging to find good options for her at times. However, that was not the case at The Bakeshop! They had so many amazing gluten free options, and we were pleasantly surprised! All 4 of us ended up ordering the breakfast sandwich, 2 of us on regular focaccia, 1 on gluten free house-made focaccia, and the 4th on a croissant. Everything was spectacular! We were hoping to grab coffee, as well, but they don't have an espresso machine, so we ended up passing on that. Nevertheless, great spot for a bite to eat in the morning! They also serve alcohol at a reasonable price, so this could be a great stop for happy hour! We were shopping in Freeport on a beautiful Monday afternoon in March and realized it was long past noon, and we were hungry. We wanted a salad with protein. We also had our large dog with us so knew we could not go inside a restaurant. My husband saw that the bake shop had salads and there were some outdoor tables so we decided to try a Greek salad and a Caesar both with tarragon chicken salad on top. Yum! The salads were large enough to fill us up and they were tasty! The staff thought it was funny that we were eating outside and when they found out we had our dog they brought out a bowl of water. First time visit on 3/17/2023 First impression; i was standing at the register waiting to order when a young mother and two boys, rushed in and stood in front of pastry counter deciding what to order. The clerk knew i was there first, and apologized, but took their order first anyway! Three of us went in, ordered separately, but they knew we were together as we sat at one table to wait. The grilled cheese sandwich came out first. It was quite perfect. She finished the sandwich before #2 or #3 sandwiches came out. Sandwich #2 arrived about 9 minutes after #1. An eggplant sandwich that was fried really really crispy. Most of it went in the compost bucket. Finally, about a good 18 minutes later, my Chicken Gyro arrived at the table. I was eating alone as my two friends had already finished. The excuse was that they ran out of tzazki sauce and had to make more. Really did not taste like real tzazki sauce. The chicken was not marinated at all. Thumbs totally down on this sandwich. There was service with a smile, but they must work on their timing much more. These sandwiches should have been timed to come out within a minute or two of each other. And all sauces should be prepped and ready at the beginning of the day.
