I really wanted to love this place because it was the only place I could find that offered gluten-free fried seafood in the area. It's basically in the same parking lot as LL Bean, and 7 of us could be seated right away during lunch time. The downstairs area is counter service, and upstairs is full service. There's only a few high top tables upstairs. We got the fried whole belly clams, which were pretty good, and then the lobster roll on a GF bun. The bun was not good at all, and I know it is probably mainly because it is GF, but it's just a shame we can't get better GF bread easier nowadays, and we pay more to have it. The amount of lobster was also super disappointing, which was frustrating because I thought I saw someone else with a lobster roll that looked pretty substantial. My mom got the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp were so tiny, similar to what you'd get at a fast food place when you order shrimp. Terrible! Tough review to write ... the lobster roll itself was good ... however for $32 for a single roll, I left feeling full as the roll was only 4 - 5 bites. I get it, inflation is crazy and lobster prices are sky high. However, if I got french fries and a drink, I'd be looking at almost $50 for a single meal. From a taste perspective, the roll was good but I barely felt like I ate after I was done. The meat is 100% claws. I remember the good old days (pre-covid) when some of the sweet, chewy tail meat was included in lobster rolls. Today, 90% of them are just the less expensive claw meat. At double the price of when the rolls included the premium tail meat. This really takes away from the roll. The best part of the roll is that it comes on a buttered, perfectly grilled bun. The salty buttery taste really adds to the taste. The lobster seemed very fresh ... you can just tell ... and was lightly brushed with a watery mayonnaise, which didn't overwhelm the lobster. Underneath was just a hint of green lettuce, which added some crunch and mild taste. No celery. It almost tasted like the lobster had been brined in salt water as there was a distinctive (nice) 'ocean' flavour. The roll was gone in 5 bites. I stared at my empty plate wishing I could have another one. My best guess is that the roll contained the meat of 5, or so, claws. maybe 4 - 5 ounces of lobster. The bun was bigger than the lobster. On the way home, I did a Popeye's drive through, just so I felt like I ate something. It is a damn shame that prices have risen so crazy. If you told me 4 years ago that a small-ish lobster roll would be over $30, I'd have said you were crazy. A twin lobster dinner was less than $30 a few years ago. I doubt prices will ever go down ... but lobster is not beluga caviar, so I think I'm all set for a while. If you have a light appetite, I was surprised at how much better the roll tasted than I thought it would, given what a complete and utter tourist trap this restaurant looks like from the inside and outside. It's right in the heart of an outlet mall too. read more

Came here with my daughter a few days ago and we each had a large clam chowder and split a lobster roll and fries. Are there cheaper eats right around the corner? Yes. But we were with my large dog who needed a rest after shopping all morning and they were kind enough to bring her a water bowl. I loved the fries and all the condiments they offer. It was conveniently located off the highway and plenty of parking off main drag behind restaurant. The clams were good enough, a few were a bit gritty not even a pint's worth amount... the fries were terrible ... limp and soggey. I'm sorry, but I just don't think it was that good to justify $30 + dollars. I can buy a whole lb and a half lobster pre- steamed on sale at my local supermarket for about half the price !!! My wife and I were on a week long road trip along the coast of Maine and in Freeport, there was a place called the Lobster Cooker, so I decided to grab a lobster roll and salad and IPA. The service was great and the beer was great and the lobster was fresh tasting and had a solid coating of butter. Really good.
