Lee ordered nachos, fish and chips and chopped sub sandwich for lunch. It was all just okay. The nachos were a huge pile of chips. No cheese underneath the first layer of chips. The fish in the fish and chips were good. The batter of the fish and chips was a little greasy. The chopped sub sandwich was super bland and the worst thing about our meal. My husband and I both got the feeling like our waitress didn't like us. She might have been having a bad day. She was just short with us and seemed annoyed. read more

I love his place! Foreside has excellent food, I went with friends recently and we were told it would be 30 minutes. We waited under 20. The food: One friend got the fried haddock. She said it was fresh and out of this world. Another got the fish chowder and it'd all he could talk about. I got a chicken Caesar salad and was pretty impressed with the portion. I finished with a chocolate tort with s drizzled strawberry purée that made me want to order 5 more. It tends to get busy at times. I suggest calling ahead, Prices are very reasonable. Arrived here tonight for dinner. I've lived in Falmouth for nearly a decade, I tried this place a few times after first moving to the area but eventually moved onto to other establishments due to at times what was mediocre service and/or food. It was later in the night so I decided to give this place another go. The service at the bar was fine but the food quality was once again lacking. I ordered the pan fried haddock which was served about 15 minutes later. The entree was cold, the fish undercooked and worst of all the entire meal was doused in far too much lemon juice. I don't mind my fish a little seasoned but this was too much. Another customer near me who ordered the same entree returned most of it uneaten noting to the staff it was too tart tasting. The bartender then asked me if my dish tasted the same and I confirmed it had and returned the remainder of the meal untouched. No apology or offer to comp any portion of the service which was disappointing. Given the menu is mostly pub fare and the prices here, I would expect a better dining experience. Haven't been here since before Covid, used to love this place. This time we were extremely disappointed. Seems like everything about this once go to place has changed, bloody Mary's used to be so great- not anymore. Turkey blt was cold and sloppy. I guess nothing does last forever. read more

I've worked in Falmouth for many years and this restaurant never disappoints. Located for easy access to either highway in Route one makes this a great location to meet up. I worked for a local nursing home and their monthly trips were always booked up as soon as the date became available. The tavern was very accommodating for wheelchair parties as well as large parties with multiple wheel chairs. This trip was to celebrate my birthday with friends. Enjoyed the always wonderful nachos and calamari (didn't care for the fried lemon though). Dinner was burgers all around except the birthday girl who ordered the Beef Wellington. Absolutely delicious! Large portion allowed me to take some home. Double chocolate cake was decadent and enjoyed. To say I'll be back is the truth. Local and yummy perfect for what ever brings you together for a meal! read more

We were here on a dreary Wednesday and needed their outstanding nachos as a pick me up. As we entered the building we were greeted by the host, who if COVID safety is your jam then this is the spot for you. The tables were extremely spaced apart. The service was quick and attentive, but the food was just so so. The nachos didn't disappoint and we probably should've ordered only that. We also had the French dip and Cobb salad as entrees. COVID unfortunately has changed how many restaurants work to stay open. The protocols here were a bit absurd. If I were an ER nurse from the questions asked I'd have to dine elsewhere LOL. We have been going to Foreside for years - and I am talking weekly. For anyone on the fence - just do it. Yes, the owner gets political when she shouldn't (you run a business to serve the public as a whole, not just those who agree with your views) but the food and consistency of this place makes me overlook the owner's lack of business sense on certain things. Without a doubt, best thing on the menu hands down are the nachos. These are epic. We have tried nachos far and wide and have yet to find any that compare. Loads of cheese on every level of chip with big dollops of sour cream, quac, and homemade salsa. We seriously have tried about everything on the menu and have never had a bad or "off" meal here. Other favorites are their salads, Reuben sandwich, haddock chowder, and fried haddock sandwich. The menu changes seasonally, but certain items such as these are permanent staples. Great bar and cocktail menu too. Nice local stop with great food and reasonable prices. read more

I came here for a quick snack and drink with friends and it was fine. It took a while for someone to notice we were standing at the door, I think they assumed we were all set, because they were nice enough to say hi the first time they walked by, we weren't ignored. I am guessing It's probably because the place is split, one side is the bar and the other side is the dining area. Staff was professional and pleasant - they move about the place very quickly checking on every table frequently from what I could see and what we experienced. Drink menu was decent, local and domestic beer available. cheers! The food menu was vast, there is something for everyone. I had heard for years the nachos were delicious and the portion was huge...so We opted to share the nachos. We ordered the nachos salsa on the side...and it came to the table as ordered! Yay. The platter of nachos was incredibly large, I have never seen an order so large. It was cheesy, as I love them, the toppings were great. There was an even distribution of everything. Every bite...cheesy! So good. I think I looked at the nachos and ate more than I talked with my friends. LOL See picture of the nachos I posted. I wish I took more pictures, but I was too hungry and excited. The parking lot is nice - private parking. The atmosphere is dark, but it's nice and open - family friendly for sure. If you are in the area and would like a local sit down restaurant, this would be a good place to try. I have given 4 star reviews on several instants, this has been our goto place for Friday nights, for years. Sorry but we are looking for a new place after our meals tonight. What was wrong you ask, let me count the ways: 1. They traditionally have Prime Rib with a popover on Sunday nights, but when I tried to order it the order taker on the phone said the the Prime Rib wasn't available for takeout, I explained the I had, take out Prime Rib from The Tav, many times, and wondered why it was unavailable for take out, she said that she didn't know but had been told "Prime Rib not for takeout " 2. Disappointedly I ordered a hanger steak, "VERY RARE". The only good thing that I could say about that was the roasted Brussels Sprouts, were delicious. 3, The steak, which had been over cooked to well done, had a couple of slices which were like Jerky, it was very tough and my serrated steak knife had trouble cutting it. 4. The mashed potatoes which usually are great, had a large lump of potato which never felt the touch of the masher. 5. My partner had The Foreside Burger, which was cooked properly, but the Sweet Potato Fries were wet, like they had been spritzed with water. We have always commented about the consistency of the food from the Tav, not tonite. read more

In terms of water, it's pretty basic. Pretty sure they don't have a tap and just use Poland Springs water. or perhaps a tube directly connected to Poland Springs HQ. When it comes to food, it really is determined on how many people are there. When it's packed, it's rushed and sucks. When it's a low crowd that night, it's actually really good. To be fair, we did address our concerns with the manager who was friendly and receptive. Their chicken and salmon sandwiches were pretty good and so was the ice cream sandwich. Our server, Julia, provided basic bare bone service. She did take our order and brought food. That was about it. Stoic personality and she never checked in and forgot one of our coffee. We usually leave 20-25% tip for good servers..we only left her 15%. We believe she has room to improve, though...according to the manager she is new. We were wondering whether it was because one of us is deaf and she was awkward but who knows what she was thinking. We won't be back though. read more

I use Yelp to help me visualize menus for the most part, I eat with my eyes first! So I felt inclined to write a review because I feel like what I ordered was very much misrepresented by its name and what the waiter told me it was. I feel dumb writing this, but if you are going to spend $27+ on a meal it should be what you want. Please note, I do really enjoy this Tavern and have had pretty consistent tasty food every time I go. The staff has always been lovely. The gentleman that helped me was so nice. I tried the new schnitzel off the menu and asked for it to go. Before ordering, I asked the wait staff if it was traditional schnitzel and even stated "is it very thin or thicker?" Weird, I know, but I learned my lesson in the past that some people fry up a big honking pork chop and call it schnitzel, which it's not... anyway... I got home I opened my takeout and sure enough it was a giant 1 1/2 inch thick pork chop that was breaded and fried. I'm just a little frustrated because I specifically asked. I personally do not like giant pork chops so it was a let down. I know this is very much a first world problem! I took a few bites. The flavoring was great. Just call it a pork chop then on the menu! It is the furthest thing from schnitzel. So if you're there and you get enticed by the schnitzel, just know it's just a giant breaded pork chop that they happened to call schnitzel hope this helps a schnitzel lover somewhere! Cheers! Update: after I took a few bites I put it aside and offered it to someone else in my family to eat. It was super disappointing because it was completely RAW throughout (see photo). Luckily the 2 small bites I had were from the end so were hopefully cooked a bit more or maybe I just didn't realize because of the breading. We came here on a Saturday evening. Although we had a reservation, service was very slow, and our waitress disappeared for long stretches at a time. After waiting quite a while for crab crakes, they came out burnt and we had to send them back and wait several more minutes for a replacement. It took the whole meal to get a glass of water at our table. Then, we had to hunt down the waitress for our check and even that was wrong (she charged us twice for the burnt crab cakes)! This restaurant is mostly a sports bar which we are usually not big fans of but, not much was open that night so we decided to try it. The food was unexpectedly excellent!!! I had the chicken with mango chutney and my husband had the pasta special. The bread was excellent too. This is not the usual burgers and fries you expect from a sports bar. I suggest the owners make the dining room side of the place a little nicer. It will reflect the quality of your food better. Totally recommend! read more

Great food! Great service! Decent prices. We ate outside on the patio near the waterfall and landscaping - a beautiful Maine evening. The waitstaff is SO friendly, the food is fresh, well combined flavors, and cooked just right. My salmon was prepared to perfection with a crispy crust and just done inside - not anywhere near overcooked or dry. (I asked for the beurre rouge on the side and didn't use much .. I like my protein pretty pure.) The steak with bourbon sauce my friend had was so savory and delicious. (yep, shared a bite). And my other friends had the chicken.. savory again with that cheese sauce but so much! Enough to take home. We shared delicious desserts .. a chocolate decadent something and a light lemony custard (and we cannot remember the names but .. DELISH!) Drinks were good and the Sauv Blanc went really well with my salmon. Will head back soon. Our waitress Zeus was the BEST! read more

I've been by the Foreside Tavern numerous times over the past year or so. Always seems to be busy. We stopped in this afternoon around 4 PM. Ample parking with a rather pleasant appearing building that looks like something contemporary crossed with something from the 80's. Inside is rustic with barn board floors painted black, wooden booths (rather worn from years or use), and tables and chairs. Ceiling has beams and is cathedral type and painted white. Track lighting all around the restaurant. Greeted upon entry and given a choice of seating. Prompt, friendly waitress. Food is generally American, not sure if there are any seasonal dishes. No specials of any sort that I noticed. I had chicken seafood gumbo which was hot, fresh, and spicy. Large shrimp, fair quantity of tasty mussels and good quantity of chicken. My wife had the fish and chips and seemed to really enjoy it. We shared a pumpkin ginger cheesecake which was very tasty (never had gingerbread pie crust before). Overall a pleasant dining experience and a reasonable value. read more

The service here is actually not that bad. It takes awhile to get food but it's not absurdly long. They have salads, starters, sandwiches and like 5 dinner entree plates. It's pretty much just bar food. Doesn't taste great, doesn't taste bad. Their fries taste like McDonald's fries which was actually good lol. The nachos are huge! The half size will probably feed 3 people. The chicken almost tasted like canned chicken and it was a little over cooked. My burger was just an average bar burger. It was super packed and the bar is cool. I would come back to drink some beers but not to eat. read more

This was a disappointment from the start to finish. Started with hostess seating us at a dirty table. Followed by waiting for 13 min for a server to ever come to the table. Only to be surprised our waiter was actually the guy that walked by us at least 4 times not even acknowledging us or any form of communication Asked could we start with cleaning the table to which the response was oh its just a little chip. Wow really actually its sticky and sorry I'm bothering you because i don't want to sit at someone else's trash. While sitting there we noticed how the hostess actually just put menus on the tables and walking away before guests ever made it to the table. Also how two other tables in our servers section had empty drinks and it was after us that he finally checked on them. Not to mention him serving another table salads but no silverware in sight. I could see if the place was swamped but it wasn't even hardly busy. We finally get drinks and ask him if the calamari had tentacles or just rings and was it good because it was our first time here. He claimed yes it was his favorite and that it was only rings. Im not sure where Todd learned to serve tables at but when bringing appetizer plates to the table and as you start to set one down and it has black pepper or whatever on it you dont pull it back up and clean it off with your thumb in front of your guest. WTH thats gross and thanks i wont be touching that plate at all. When the calamari came to the table immediately knew Todd was clueless because in fact it was tentacles. It was almost inedible not because it it was overcooked but because of how salty it was. Tasted like overused old bay and half a shaker of salt was used as seasoning. The redeeming quality todd did was once we ordered the reuben sandwich to share he did bring an extra plate and ketchup for the fries before our food was served. As for the reuben again salt was the main flavor. If it had thousand island dressing we couldn't taste it also the sauerkraut was pretty much only on one half of the sandwich. Which i don't mind to much because its not my favorite flavor. Bar food is bar food but this isnt even that good and the restaurant claims to be a gastro pub not even close. Wont recommend to anyone and wont be back. We both did get a good laugh at the beginning as we waited for service chatting about the comical sign reminding customers to a 90min table limit does that take into account your slower then snail service or do people generally get fed up and just leave to find better food and service elsewhere. read more

I have always loved this place - they make a mean extra dry martini, have an excellent wine list at reasonable prices, and awesome fries. Tonight I tried the prime rib - OMG! We've been to Foreside a handful of times-primarily because it's close to home. The exterior and interior is beautiful. Rumor has it, they're liberal as $&@!, and, for example, you can't even WEAR a shirt with a weapon on it. We would come more often but honestly, this bothers us. You're a restaurant, you should appeal to all views, and not bring your own into a business. But, whatever. I'll stop there. We have a great service from a man at the bar, he was working both times we have went. He makes great recommendations and is always friendly. I wish their menu was a bit more expansive. I have a hard time picking anything. Their Asian sauce is AMAZING. The desserts are all great and unique that we've tried. read more
