Fantastic Lobster Rolls and fried clams. When I visited, we had the Lobster Roll and fried clams. The lobster wasn't overcooked, was plentiful, and enjoyable. The fried whole clams were not over-cooked and were juicy. This place is on the side of a road with outdoor seating, so if it's snowing or raining, you may need to eat in your car. I ate during the summer when the weather was good. The staff was extremely friendly when taking my order and it came out quickly. I am looking forward to visiting again and trying more of the menu, but a Lobster Rolls with Fried Clams or Oysters are my default order to try out a new spot, it shows the amount of lobster on a roll as well as their skill at frying. I wish that they were a little closer to Portland, as I will likely only stop by on my way to or from LL Bean in Freeport. read more

I stopped by because my dad is in a nursing home nearby and wanted fried clams. I ordered a fried clam basket and fried scallops. The scallops were great, no complaints there but the fries and maybe less so the clams, were so dark. This means the fries were fried is old cooking old. He ended up super sick, throwing up, after he ate them. The scallops were not dark so it seems like the fries might be done is different oil then the seafood? Just paid $53 for a lobster roll and fries. WAY overpriced for what it is. More of a tourist trap than anything. the "large hand cut fries" were soggy, regular sized fries. On top of that, they didn't come with the Lobster Roll. I had to pay extra. Unless you're a vacationer and don't want to be duped into paying too much for something you can get somewhere else for a lot less, don't bother eating here. What a waste. read more

I decided to go here to get my "once a year" lobster roll, and had my craving curbed. Food was good. As expected with the price of lobster, it was a bit expensive, but that's just the market price. Fries were good too! I'm not one to rate a lobster roll, as I'm not particularly a huge lobster fan, but this one tasted pretty good all things considered! I can't believe I haven't done a review yet. I come a couple times every summer - whenever I have company "from away". Today I treated myself. The lobster rolls are legit but I also love the crabmeat. It's a good amount of meat and the roll is always toasted, perfectly. Splurge for the tots - and get the dipping sauce. Sooo good. We visited Cindy's on their final weekend of the season. It was our first time to try a lobster roll. We overheard a couple of customers compliment the staff on how much they loved the place. And I'll admit the staff was excellent. We felt the product was expensive and just Ok. Sort of bland, I felt. And $28 for a small hoagie roll was tough on my wallet. Ordered: XL crab roll: they have great toasted buns and the crab was flavorful, a little on the small side for what you order coleslaw is okay if you mix it before you eat it, crunchy, fresh scallop basket: good amount of scallops that were lightly fried, the fries are fresh and have good flavor but they aren't crunchy, taste like they are simply cut and placed in the fry (no double fry). Cindy's provided a decent lobster roll that was worth the visit. The lobster was served on a typical, standard sized, buttered and grilled NE style hotdog bun. Just for the record, there is no other acceptable option in my opinion. The meat was cut into good size chunks and was available plain, with mayo or butter. This was my first experience with a lobster roll. It's a local delicacy, so we had to try it. If I'm being honest, the lobster roll didn't taste like anything. I'm good with the texture, but my wife isn't a fan. I guess I'm just not a lobster roll fan. I got the clam chowder & it was very good! Warm & flavorful. The kids enjoyed their chicken strips. The staff was friendly, helpful, & patient with us first timers. I enjoyed the outside seating. The kids even braved the porta-potty while we were there. Thanks to Yelpers, rather than eat in Freeport as we traveled from Bar Harbor, we overshot and tried Cindy's. We were surprised to see it really was a shack --eat outside by a trailer type of thing. But it was here that we've had our best lobster roll and clam chowder by far and for MUCH less money. Great service. Helpful friendly staff. A wonderful experience. They close after Columbus Day. Let me start by saying that I live in Freeport; NOT a tourist. I frequented Cindy's with the old owners and I have eaten there with the new operators. Today will probably be the last time, because..... A few reasons. I purchased a lobster roll " basket" (everything is actually ala carte) on my way home from picking up a new car. I didn't want to wrestle with the lobster roll so I ate some fries. Not undercooked, practically uncooked. Almost all of them. At home, I unwrapped the lobster roll; plenty of lobster meat, no taste; well beyond tasting like lobster and mayo. At this point, I called Cindy's about the fries because I believe in going to the source. The young woman who answered is probably great at taking food orders but seems unfamiliar with customer service issues. When I expressed my disappointment, she said that next time I should just ask for my fries well done. (Cooked would have been fine). I pointed out that it wasn't MY job to tell them how to cook the cooked food, and at this point there probably wouldn't be a next time. Her response was"okay then". THAT is the point at which I decided that going to the source wasn't the wise choice. So if you are from out of town, you may get food or not. Delicious! Super unique spot. A little pricey, but lobster is pricey. Only outdoor seating. We ordered Togo style and ate in the car. We had a lobster roll with mayo, buttered crab roll and a side of their fries. The fries were hot, fresh cut, and very well seasoned. The lobster roll was loaded with lobster and the crab roll was also a good size portion. Worth the stop! read more

This little roadside shack packs some big flavor! The food was great! Would have liked salt on my fries straight out if the fryer but was warned and asked if I wanted salt when I picked up my order from this take out only style establishment. I ordered the combo here, clams and haddock. All fresh and fried to perfection. No complaints when it came to taste. But for this combo and a soda 33 and some change seemed like still fair but bordering pricey, especially with the serving size given. But with covid, and not being local, it's hard to say what is fair and what is not. So if you not laid off from covid and can scrounge up 33 bucks for a lunch, highly recommended. The food is not fresh enough and taste is not that great either. I ordered crabmeat roll and it has fishy smell. For French fries too, it's not freshly fried only when I order. Look like they dipped the already fried ones 2nd time just to heat it up. I have had the crabmeat roll from other place and French fries from many other places. They are nothing like from Cindy's. Even McDonald French fries are much better. read more

The old Cindy's has been gone for a few years, but the location was recently purchased and it is back better than ever! Nice space with picnic tables, no inside dining, but take out appeared brisk. We had a lobster quesadilla, fried haddock sandwich, hand cut fries and tater tots. The quesadilla was ok, but the haddock sandwich was super fresh, lightly fried, yummy! The fries were ok, the tots were fabulous! We will go back to try more. read more
