Before we left New York for Maine, we put a list together of all the places that we wanted to try whoopies pies from. My family has been making whoopie pies for decades and every time I go to Maine, we try to find pies that remind us of the ones that we make! This visit was similar to our last visit... with the same service that other reviewers seem to be miffed about, but we did enjoy the whoopies again! We ordered the classic, the chocolate chip, and chocolate lovers. The chocolate lovers was a bit overly sweet. The classic was very good!

Cute, no-frills shop with yummy whoopie pies and a good variety of seasonal flavors! Service was easy. We grabbed what we wanted and were on our way. Loved that they also have giant whoopie pies (perfect for a birthday cake!) and frozen ones that taste like ice cream sandwiches. Not super busy when we stopped by, but definitely worth a visit if you're in Freeport. Fun flavors and a sweet little stop!

There are many, very special characteristics of my home state, not the least of which is the home of the invention of the Whoopie pie. Two small round cakes with a filling between them may sound boring. There is no greater dessert ever made than the real Maine classic whoopie pie.

If you have never seen a JUMBO whoopie pie before, you need to head to Wicked Whoopies. It costs $18 dollars and had icing as thick as 1.5 inches if not more. It feeds 8 people like a cake does. The regular size whoopie pies are great, and there is a large selection, but you will be nearly $3 a pie. To me that's a bit on the pricey side, unless you want to be 10 or more than the price comes down. The occasional indulgence is worth the visit. The pumpkin whoopie is one of my favorites.

Grew up eating whoopie pies. Had no idea no one outside of New England knew what these were. I can't imagine life without a whoopie pie. What kind of childhood are other kids having?!! Haha. Whoopie pies are chocolate cake like with a frosting like cream filling. The classic is chocolate, that's what they were as a kid. Now, they e gotten a little fancier with different flavors. A lot of different flavors. Mint, my favorite, peanut butter, red velvet, pumpkin, orange cream, and so many more. The maple is outstanding, and so is the gingerbread. I didn't see them today, it's quite possible they are only Christmas time. They do have a small selection of flavors you can get from the freezer. I like them from the freezer. They're not hard that they will break your teeth, they are still soft, just like an ice cream sandwich. The gentleman working today was very nice. He smiled and greeted everyone coming in.

Stopped here while in Freeport for a whoopie pie. The inside was neat with so many different flavors of whoopie pies. We got the maple one and it was really good. They even had frozen ones as well to try. Over a neat store with some great flavors.

Had a very nice experience there and the cashier was very kind and helpful. Never knew they had so many versions of Whoopi's pies! It's a must go if you're looking for Maine whoopie pies!!

I was never really into Whoopie Pies, but in the recent years my tastebuds finally got their act together. Just like when I was in the hunt for the perfect cupcake ( which in in DC, Baked and Wired), I am not on the hunt for the perfect whoopie pie. Ha! These whoopies pies are delicious! I love that they have different size options. Which is perfect for sampling different flavors. They were perfectly moist, not dry at all. The filling was the perfect amount, and the perfect sweetness. Our favorite was the vanilla bean... those flecks of vanilla bean! This location is in a great spot, on the strip nearby to LL BEAN. We were able to walk in and shop, pay and depart. Pricing was very reasonable. They also sell frozen ones to enjoy later. I think they offer shipping, check out their website. They also have a military discount which was greatly appreciated.

Melted, in package, melted on arrival after being in a truck. I can't imagine that's ok but they said it's perfectly safe, assuming at that temp no bacteria grows??

A nice shop, which is jampacked during the tourist season, but fairly slow, and not as well stocked, in the off-season. Makes perfect business sense. Lots of flavor options, including the fact that you can get a large or smaller version of most offerings. Staff was a little quiet and standoffish but efficient.

When in Maine, you might as well eat a whoopie pie, right? It's a popular treat in Maine and Pennsylvania, and many websites crown Wicked Whoopies (in the town of Freeport) the best in the state. So I knew this would be the place I would eat a whoopie pie, about the size of an ice cream cookie sandwich with two pieces of moist cake surrounding white icing. Earlier on the road trip, I had eaten one with hard, chewy cake filled with bland cream. It wasn't appealing. And then, I ate at Wicked Whoopies, and I realized what they were supposed to taste like. When you enter the store, the right side has roughly 10 different flavors. Some flavors have miniature sizes about the diameter of a plum. The left side doesn't have much, except for the frozen whoopies and giant whoopie pies the size of birthday cakes. The cake was so soft that some of it stuck to the wrapper, gooey and tender with the perfect flavor. The cream was sugary and rich, much higher in quality than my previous experience. The gingerbread version is REALLY GOOD, and lemon is probably second best. The red velvet cake was also good, but struggled to capture the essence of a real red velvet cake. Stop here for a snack, and then cross the street to the 24-hour flagship store of L.L.Bean. But Wicked Whoopies closes at 6:00 p.m., even on the weekend, so get there before closing time.

4.5 stars A must in Maine! A lady in my facebook group recommended Wicked Whoopies to me last year, saying you can either order online or pick up in store. There is ample parking nearby. Flavors range from pumpkin, gingerbread, double chocolate, mint chocolate, red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate chip, you get the idea. Store is clean and staff is friendly. Whenever I visit somewhere new I make sure to visit at least one small coffee shop. I passionately support small businesses as much as I can! My friend and I had driven up to a local confectionery and I was dragging afterwards. So we found this adorable little place and I had one of the best coffees of my life! The only reason that I am giving it four stars instead of five is that they don't do blended coffee. I also think they need to hire a couple more people as the wait was a bit much. That being said it was entirely worth it because as I stated my vanilla pistachio latte was one of the best coffees I have had in 20 some odd years of coffee drinking. I also loved the decor and cute little elements that really make you feel at home! They had plenty of seating especially for being a smaller establishment Overall, Cute, locally owned and very friendly staff! Delicious coffee! SPüN does a lot of variety of custom order cakes and they're so nicely done. My first opportunity was my SO had actually ordered a green tea cake -- it was so good I couldn't stop shoveling the buttercream into my mouth. This year I opted for a Boston cream pic cupcake selection for the Boston cream pie lover in my life. The inside was a yellow cake base with the standard Boston cream in the middle and a hardened chocolate shell over cream on top. I made a special request for some lettering and they came packaged in a box that allowed for complete stability of the cakes. I accidentally left them out in a cold area prior to serving but they turned out totally fine! I would have normally done a regular Boston cream pie but circumstances made cupcakes an easier option. Will be trying the full cake next time. Definitely recommend if you're in the area -- ordering, customizing, payment, and pick up were all insanely easy.

THESE ARE THE BEST CINNAMON ROLLS I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE (So please ignore anything I've said stating otherwise that was written before this review was.) I had been warned that these were everything and more, and that still did not prepare me for how epic they were. They're the perfect balance of both dense and yet they melt-in-your-mouth; the "icing" (whatever notion you have of icing, throw it away because that's not what this is but a word hasn't been invented yet for whatever is going on with these buns) is sticky and creamy and has a little hint of citrus. And I am not sure I can never eat another cinnamon roll again, because these have spoiled me forever (I was swooning so much the first time we had them that my partner let me finish his as well!). Also: their frittata? I haven't had anything that good since living in Spain. Big, filling wedges of layered egg, potato, onion, and veggies. I'm hoping this will always be available vegetarian! Also; I ate it cold. And with my hands like it was a slice of pizza. That's the kind of monster I am, but it worked out deliciously! Spün you have IMMEDIATELY become one of my favorite food places in all of Maine. Can I make my holiday order for a half dozen cinnamon rolls and veggie frittata now?!
