We have been "regulars" since 2021 and it's because of the consistent quality of food and service. As previously stated - great location with plenty of parking - however....the lot on the Nighthawk's side is shared with Mast Landing...sooo, even though it's a big lot, the lot has filled up to the point we had to park on the other side of the main driveway - which is not an issue - it's not a far walk, however, it can get a little dicey because people fly through this lot. We still love their smashburgers - you can get a signature one and you can build your own - they have really expanded options over the past 5 years. The chicken sandwiches are always so good. I recently discovered I loved the Jalapeño Popper Chicken sandwich. Their fries are always so great - especially if you have queso. Speaking of queso - one of the best things they have added to their appetizer menu...chips and queso- We love eating the leftover queso with our fries with our sandwiches. Chips have a lovely seasoning - sometimes a little heavy handed with flavor - but they are still delicious. I love their breadstick/pizza appetizer. it's more a focaccia bread and it's soooo good. Sometimes I just have that for my main meal. They have wonderful local beers in the cooler and wonderful sparkling non-alcoholic options as well. Don't forget to ask about their specials. In January we had the chicken curry soup - holy moly - it was SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! And the warm pita that accompanies it. It's perfect. The shaved brussel sprout caesar is soooo good and VERY filling. While it's a small dining area - we have never found it crowded where there weren't seats. The food is just as delicious to-go. They do a ton of to-go orders. Went to mast landing for some brews and found out they had a restaurant directly adjacent that provides food to the brewery patrons. They have their own dine-in restaurant but we never went inside of it we just used the service window inside the brewery to pick up our food. We were sitting outside in the back and used the QR code and toast app to order; which was a breeze. It took about 10 mins or so before I got a text that the food was ready. I liked that you could leave your tab open in case you wanted to order something else. My son had the turkey club and I had the Reuben. Both were very good with the Reuben being the better of the 2. The corned beef was sliced really thin and piled high. The cheese was melty and tied the sando together nicely. It wasn't drowning in dressing either. Easily an 8/10 maybe even a 9/10. The turkey was a little dry on the club, but that could have been made better with a little mayo but my kid has not developed a taste for condiments yet. Regardless, it was still really good. We got the fries upgrade on one sandwich to split. They were a mixed bag with some crispy, some limp and some perfect. My kids and I popped in on a summer day after a bit of shopping at the outlets. The space was a smaller than expected (holds maybe 15-20ppl). I did notice a patio outside but nobody was sitting there and it wasn't clear if that was part of Nighthawk or Mast Landing. Drinks here are all bottled. My kids picked out $3 bottles of IBC rootbeer. When it came to ordering mains, I asked if I could get the Misty's chicken sandwich, but fried. That seemed to throw the waitress off. She said she'd check if that was allowed. When she returned she told me they'd do it for me because they weren't that busy. That seemed odd to be considering they had many fried chicken sandwiches on the menu. It wasn't like I was creating a dish. I just wanted those toppings on fried chicken, not grilled. Plus, my daughter ordered the Queso chicken sandwich so it quite literally wasn't going to take any more time to make mine than what we had already ordered. Strange, but nonetheless, they did it. I opted to add fries with a side of ranch ($4 up-charge for friends and $1 for ranch!). They were quite good, shoe string hand-cut style. Potato chips are the default side, which I'm not crazy about. Both of our sandwiches were plentiful and yummy. My son ordered the cheese pizza sticks. They were okay for a kid with basic taste buds, but not very seasoned or flavorful and not something I'd order again at $14. The best part is that you can sit inside Mast Landing Brewing Company and order your food through a little takeout window that connects the restaurant and the brewery. I ordered the Classic Turkey Club. The sandwich is so big I could only eat half. I also ordered a large fry to share with my husband. And when they did, the smash burgers were warm and the pretzel bites were very hot. It seems like the timing of the kitchen didn't favor the smash burger. Patty Melt: Really tasty buttered and griddled rye housing a well crusted and very well seasoned beef slab. Juiciness has varied from freely gushing to just trickling. Patty size has varied a bit as well, from thick and fully stretching to the edges of the bread, to not as thick and not quite reaching. At its worst, it's still good eats. At its best, it's astonishingly elite. Classic Burger: A thin patty in the mashed style, loaded with seasoning. No pink, no juice. Fries: Plentiful, fresh cut, very potatoey, somewhat crisp, somewhat droopy, liberally salted. I like 'em, but those who don't like salt won't like these. Realistically, this place swings from a 3 to a 5, but highs have been higher and more frequent than lows, so gotta go with 4 stars. My wife and I go to Freeport once in a great while so we try to find something new and boy did we find a gem. Nighthawk's Kitchen is off the beaten path, in the same area as the Shaws Plaza and located next to Mast Landing Brewing Company. You could miss it because it's a small space, but the food packs a punch (in a good way). The interior has seating for approximately 16. They have low and a couple high tables. They have a beverage cooler on the left, some business merchandise, a warmer for their breakfast on-the-go options and some confections sugar items leading up to the front desk. My wife and I were met by one of the staff who graciously opened the door for us. He provided us with a menu, said we could sit anywhere and offered us glasses of water while we browsed the menu. My wife ordered the Green Chile cheeseburgers which has hatch New Mexico green chilies and American cheese on a potato style role. She LOVED it as it brought back memories of her time in New Mexico. The owner did tell us that he get's all his green chiles directly from New Mexico through a vendor he has worked within when Nighthawk's was originally in New York. I had the BBQ burger which has bacon, bbq sauce, onion straws and I substituted vegan cheese in place of cheddar for dietary reasons. We also ordered a small fly for us to split. First off, I wasn't kidding when I said the food packs a punch. My burger was a smash burger style with great caramelization on the edges of the burger. One of the best burgers I have had in quite some time and my wife agrees hers was as well. The fries are hand cut, shoe string style. They par cook them in olive oil and then finish them in canola oil. They sprinkle salt and pepper on them and I ate them like I was eating popcorn till it was gone. Nighthawk's Kitchen looks and feels like a hole in the wall style restaurant and they are, but I enjoyed every minute of the atmosphere, customer service and the food. This would be a great spot for a future Yelp Elite event as they do offer alternative options. The staff in Nighthawks was excellent. They greeted and informed us we could order/eat on either side. We went next door because there was more room. However, that's when the service stopped. When we arrived, there was one additional party in the bar and three bartenders chatting behind the bar. They were also hosting a table where kids could paint pumpkins. No one greeted us or asked if we had been there before which would have been really helpful being that no one seats you or takes your order so we were left thinking, how does this work? There is a very wordy sign (think along the lines of the signs you see at airport security that no one reads) explaining the "process." Eventually, we figured out you order on your phone or via the kiosk near the kitchen window. However, if you have questions about ordering, don't bother. No one talks to patrons. Got our food which was very good. Drinks are mostly bottled and very small which is a problem when you run out midway through eating your burger. Finally found the bottle opener to open my Coke after flagging the cook down. In summary, the food is very good, but service is nearly non existent which ruins the entire experience. Technology is a tool which should be used to enhance business. In our experience here, it has been used to replace the service experience which is such a vital part of patronizing a business. Greet customers. Ask if they've been there before. If not, acquaint them with the process. Make a recommendation. Ask them what brought them in. Stumbled upon this wonderful cozy place to grab lunch. The location was extremely convenient as nearby places were over crowded and offered little or no parking. The staff was so nice and helpful. We asked what dish they were known for and they said the fried chicken sandwich. This is something I usually stay clear of but decided to try it. The sandwich was delicious! Nighthawk is a tiny order at the counter set-up I think, but we did have a sweet girl take our order and bring our food that we tipped. The Brussel Sprout salad was excellent. We also got two orders of wings as well. (The Buffalo sauce wings were sweet and this threw me. The Parmesan wings were very light and did not have any cheesy savory goodness.) The waitress immediately informed us of the dishes/products that they were out of (lots) and provided menus. She took our orders, only to return moments later to let us know they were out of the Brat burger ordered. Drat! When we asked about the cole slaw, we were informed it was a take on Cool Ranch Doritos. Well I am no fan of ranch anything nor Doritos, but I do LOVE slaw. Things were not looking good. We opted for the burger with fries and Misty's Chicken sandwich with the cool ranch slaw. The menu does not specify that the burgers are "smashed" so we were a little taken back when it arrived. However, after the initial "what the hell kind of burger is this" ? (Yup, know you said the same), the taste was super, cooked to the requested MR which is always magnificent. It lacked the cheese requested, but our waitress remedied that immediately. The fries were crispy and tasty. The Misty's chicken sandwich was moist and flavorful, with shaved parmesan, like a chicken Caesar salad on a bun. I could have done without the bacon, but know that is a go to for many. I really loved this sandwich. The cool ranch slaw which I balked at and reluctantly ordered was fantastic, dressed perfectly and filled with colorful crunchy cabbage. Honestly the worst lunch experience I have ever had. Me and my family went here for lunch because 2 of us are gluten free and this place was highly recommended. The menu looked good. We placed our order and everything seemed great. That was until we got our food. One of the burgers we ordered gluten free came out with a gluten filled bun and the incorrect toppings. When we first tried to send it back they told us "they would just take off the buns and replace them with gluten free" this is not how celiac works. We sent it back and they fixed it. But I will mention it turns out the gluten free "bun" was actually just 2 pieces of bread... They also forgot to put in one of our burgers and it came out 10 minutes later than the rest of our food. My brother got a regular non-gluten free burger. He thought it was okay until he pulled a curly black hair out of the middle of it. He was then unable to eat the rest of it. We mentioned both of these things to our waitress and she did nothing about them and didn't even apologize! Non of these problems were reflected on our bill even though they literally served us with an allergen. I also want to note the fries were way over cooked and tasted burnt. The food was delicious and was super nicely priced! I ordered the Classic burger but changed it to a veggie burger and it was amazing. The restaurant is so small and cute and the big windows make it so nice to sit and watch the nature. The service was okay, the waitress was snippy and rude when I noticed that my food did not come out the way it was supposed to. I am from out of state so maybe there is a social norm that I missed but her attitude rubbed me the wrong way! Overall the food was delicious and my friend and I had a nice time. read more
