Being from the South I was intrigued by the idea of BBQ this far North. Curb appeal and 1st impression of the interior was really nice. I ordered the two meat plate ( Brisket and Pulled Pork). When it arrived it looked amazing. A huge portion of pork and brisket, fries, coleslaw and cornbread. It went downhill from there. The meat was only barely warm, great smoke ring but no smoke flavor because the rub was still there and over powered the smoke and meat flavor. The final nail was both meats were very dry and I think was because of the salt in the rub. Overall not a very good meal. BUT, if you're not used to southern bbq, this would probably be okay. Not a fan.

Everyone was nice, the place is esthetically appropriate for bbque-- good service- food was solid- maybe not southern but very good- fair value and oversized portions - you can't go wrong in Freeport if you want barbecue by coming here

BBQ option just off exit 19 in Freeport. Lots of parking. Nice bar area with a large beer list and yummy cocktails. Portions are large. Fries are super crispy. Of course the cornbread is super yummy as well. Even if you aren't a bbq fan there are other options on the menu.

I haven't been to Bucks in several years, but it used to be a favorite spot about 10 years ago. Tonight there were 4 of us for dinner, 3 adults and 1 child. We got there around 6:15 on Sunday 10/20/24. It wasn't too busy and we were sat right away. Our server was attentive and came to our table quickly to get our drink and appetizer order. We placed the order for a kids chicken nuggets and fries. At the same time we placed our appetizer order of fried pickle chips. Both orders came out quickly and the food was very hot . While I did not try the chicken nuggets myself, I heard they were good. I thought the pickle chips were delightful! They were a thicker slice of pickle, which I enjoyed more than a hamburger dill chip like most places have. The dipping sauce was good too. I was going to order the burnt ends as my meal with a side, but the others at the table wanted some too so we decided to order them as another appetizer. For our entrees 2 people ordered the Big Buck Combo, one with baked beans and cole slaw, the other with a baked potato and cole slaw. The Cole slaw was not vinegar based as the server described. It had a lot of mayo and neither were very impressed with that. However, both were happy with the meat and said it was good. It was A LOT of food and a decent amount went home for lunch tomorrow. I had the brisket sandwich and it was good. The brisket was tender and flavorful, I thought the bun was soft, but dry. I added the Carolina bbq sauce and it was the perfect sauce for the sandwich. It tasted as if it had a lot of yellow mustard, which I don't mind at all, but was very different from the places I used to get bbq from when I was in N Carolina. For my side I had the baked beans. They were not hot, but I thought the flavor was good. Then came our burnt ends - and I do mean BURNT. I could smell the burnt meat before it got to the table. You know those creosote crusted pieces from the grill if you don't scrub the grates? That was the entire outside of the burnt ends. They were terrible. We each had a little bite and left the rest. Not edible. Overall, the service was good, but the food was meh. I wouldn't go back anytime soon,

Tried Buck's Naked BBQ. It was good. Dry but the BBQ sauce helped it! The service was wonderful. Everyone was laughing, smiling, helping eachother out. Great team work and the place definitely has a bbq feel to it. Not bad for trying for the first time.

Best bbq is Freeport! The service is always great and friendly and the food is consistently good. My favorite is the blueberry sauce with the wings and they always have creative themed cocktails. Highly recommend!

First let me say I do love good barbecue, live in Texas. The Carolinas and Virginia and some of my favorite meals have been served with beans and brisket and all of the other delicious accompaniments that you can get, there's nothing like it ! Now that said you really need to go over and see the folks at Bucks Naked BBQ. Jaron and DJ are usually there looking after their excellent crew and their wonderful customers. The Bucks Naked BBQ atmosphere was great! Lots of friendly people! Can't wait to go back! I especially loved the kicky little sauce with the burnt ends yum!!!

Pulled pork board, comes cornbread and two sides. Did Mac and cheese and dinky salad side to off set

It was delicious loved the pulled pork board. Tender meat. Nice side options. Nice sauce selection. Great service too and friendly

One of my favorite BBQ places north of Portland. The staff is so friendly and professional. We have dined in several times over the past decade or so. We have also enjoyed takeout. And we've been to a wedding were they provided the catering. In each of those situations, the food is very very very good. Consistent in it's quality and flavors. We love the pulled pork and the ribs and the WINGS!!! The sides are ok too. We like their fries. If you are craving wings on the weekend, call ahead - they do tend to sell out because they are good. Both types of ribs are great. Baby Back and St. Louis - I recommend both. The portions are consistent when you eat in or take out and they are very plentiful. It can get crowed in the parking lot and inside during peak hours on the weekend, especially during the summer. I do recommend this place especially if you have a party of 5.

We still love their smashburgers - you can get a signature one and you can build your own - they have really expanded options over the past 5 years. The chicken sandwiches are always so good. I recently discovered I loved the Jalapeño Popper Chicken sandwich. Their fries are always so great - especially if you have queso. Speaking of queso - one of the best things they have added to their appetizer menu...chips and queso- We love eating the leftover queso with our fries with our sandwiches. Chips have a lovely seasoning - sometimes a little heavy handed with flavor - but they are still delicious. I love their breadstick/pizza appetizer. it's more a focaccia bread and it's soooo good. Sometimes I just have that for my main meal. They have wonderful local beers in the cooler and wonderful sparkling non-alcoholic options as well. Don't forget to ask about their specials. In January we had the chicken curry soup - holy moly - it was SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! And the warm pita that accompanies it. It's perfect. The shaved brussel sprout caesar is soooo good and VERY filling. While it's a small dining area - we have never found it crowded where there weren't seats. The food is just as delicious to-go. They do a ton of to-go orders. Almost everything was incredibly sweet. The BBQ sauce tasted like straight liquid candy, and even the slaw was sweet. After a few bites the whole meal just felt kind of cloying. The prices also didn't match what you actually get. Around $30 for a brisket plate and it was basically four strips of brisket. Portions felt really small for the cost. On top of that, sauces cost extra, which felt a little ridiculous given the price point. Another thing that stood out: the "chips" were literally just Tostitos out of a bag. Not even house-made tortilla chips. For a place trying to have this unique, elevated vibe, that felt pretty lazy. I ordered a brisket burrito and it came out open-faced instead of wrapped like a burrito, which was confusing and messy to eat. Service itself was fine -- nothing bad to say there -- but the overall vibe of the place was kind of strange. It felt very "aggressively millennial," like it was trying really hard to be quirky and different instead of just focusing on making good food. Overall it just wasn't a great experience. Overly sweet food, small portions for the price, and a concept that feels like it's trying too hard. Mac and cheese was awful. Like straight up terrible. Like cracking an entire grinder worth of black pepper into it. The owner then insults me and is sarcastic without actually doing anything about my criticisms
