The Firehouse grill lives up to its reputation!! The food was all in large portions and delicious. We started strong with mozzarella cheese sticks and the pretzel and cheese appetizer. Fresh and hot defined these apps perfectly! The sticks were warm and stringy, the pretzels were warm, soft, and salty. The cheese dip was actually delicious and tasted nothing like a can mix. For the main courses we had the home made mac and cheese that was topped with pulled pork which was sauced in Sweet Baby Rays and the Loaded Nachos topped with the Firehouse's award winning chili. The food all came out sized for a table of 8 with savory and sweet hints of deliciousness! The waitress was welcoming, outgoing, and offered sound advice on food choices. The cook staff was timely and efficient, and the bar tender was busy busy slinging cups full of the nectar of God (BEER!!)! The Firehouse House ambience lived up to the name with firefighter equipment, first responder memorabilia, and crafty decor. The only downside to this establishment is that is dark and throws a dive bar vibe. 9/10... we will be coming back here for sure (and ordering less food)!! read more

I'll start off with this was the worst experience ever here . We have loved the firehouse for over 4 years .. so today's visit was alarming .. I ordered the terriki tips . These were not tips it was chuck steak cut up!! Tough , they no longer have the signature burger my hubby craves .. he ordered a burger the menu said loaded with bacon and cheese . It had two pieces of bacon very little cheese . Didn't match the menu. So disappointed Fire House! read more

Took a while for our orders to be taken, but the environment made up for it pretty well. Our server was super friendly and made pretty good small-talk. We ordered a lot of food from the burgers, fries, mac and cheese, salad, and the tenders. The burger was amazing in size and value, for the price you pay you get a lot of food. My only complaint was the flavor of the burger itself; it was slightly lackluster but the toppings and bacon made up for it. The fries almost gave off a five guys type of style, freshly cut and fried. Overall this is an amazing spot and I would recommend it for a small dinner. Great pub food and excellent service for our hungry Wednesday lunch. There was lots of construction going on around the restaurant so it was a little hard to find the entry to the parking lot. My chicken Caesar salad was topped with a generous amount of freshly grilled hot chicken breast - super delicious. I'm always happy when a restaurant takes the time to freshly grill the chicken for a salad and this was such a lovely treat. My dining partner enjoyed a large and juicy burger, and fresh hot fries ("I really liked my fries.") Service was lovely, super attentive, and food came out promptly. After reading reviews on Yelp, we chose Firehouse Grille, as we were in an area where we don't normally eat. it was on the later side for dinner, and when we drove up it was a small building with few windows and some bikers outside. everyone was a little nervous and wondered if this was biker bar or restaurant, and my husband even said for me to go in and check it out to make sure it was OK for the kids. I told him nope, Yelpers never let us down, and I was sure it would be fine. This is literally the most hidden, local gem I have come across and so glad to have found it! First - service. Our waitress, Lex, was Probably the best server we have had in a long time. My husband told her we had not been here before and asked what was good on the menu. She took a couple of minutes to actually go through highlights of the menu with us and give us recommendations that did not disappoint. She was busy but super friendly and checked on us an appropriate amount. Cups were hardly emptied before she refilled. Someone else mentioned on here this place was like Cheers- neighborhood hangout. My 13 yr old, not having read these reviews made the comment that "everyone seems to know each other here". That is the vibe of this place - So if it is busy and you have to eat at their bar, embrace it, as you might meet some new friends! This is pub grub, not super fancy pub grub, but really good pub grub. I started out with an appetizer pretzels and cheese. 4 big, HOT pretzel sticks with a yummy cheese sauce were delicious. They are not stingy on the cup of sauce. Make sure you save remaining sauce for whatever else you have coming up next. The kids had chicken fingers while I had a Probie (Reuben) and my husband had the fish and chips, and starter of chili w/cornbread. Everything was delicious! Chicken fingers were big and all white meat. Tasted homemade with lots of crisp coating. My Reuben was not deli meat, but thick slices of homemade corned beef with house made pickled cabbage. Where a lot of Reubens are very salty, this one was not and the meat fell apart in your mouth. So good! The fish was crispy and fresh w/a very good tartar sauce. They have different fries with dry rubs can be tossed in. I had the salt and vinegar rub on my fries and they were very tasty. My husband had the firehouse fries which had a slight kick. My son had the German fries, which were slices of baked potato drenched in butter and garlic. A decadent choice! Fries seemed to be hand cut. The chili was also great but the cornbread... wow. Cake-like texture but crisp grilled on outside. I could've eaten a pan of that! Everything was very reasonably priced with all of our meals in the $10-$14 range. Small, intimate setting for a quick bite on our way through town. The service was very friendly and prompt. I had the cobb salad, and subbed blue cheese dressing for the honey mustard. It was very good. The hard-boiled eggs were still warm from being freshly prepared! Plenty of bacon and a nice tender, well-seasoned chicken breast filet. My son had the chicken tenders with fresh cut fries and German fries. Both fries were amazing. The chicken tenders were a bit dry, but he did choose to not have them sauced. I am becoming a great fan of sneak attacks from unassuming humble pubs. Tonight we invited some friends to join us at Firehouse Grille in Auburn Maine. We were told about it from friends who lived nearby. When we arrived the place was humming. As we walked through the door, I felt like my entry should have been accompanied by the theme song to the classic tv show "Cheers". The pub was quaint, with lots of happy folks and seemed like a fun place regulars called home. I then noticed there were only two servers for the whole place.....on a Friday evening no less. However, they were amazing to watch because they were flying around like it was a cross fit challenge and making it look easy. We were greeted by Lex, who got our crew seated and served us. We started with pretzels and cheese sauce and a batch of NACHOS. The pretzels were soft and warm with a hint of cinnamon sugar and rounded out the Salty with some sweet. The cheese sauce was in a small bowl and it was used on everything until it was gone- because it was fricken cheese sauce!!! Our server Lex, was truly a cocktail genius, dialing up and nailing drink suggestions as if she grew up with us. Next came the NACHOS! Every colored corn tortilla chip I've ever seen, smothered with beef, cheese, veggies and more cheese. I decided on the fish and chips and a side of sweet potato waffle fries. The haddock was perfectly cooked. It was fresh and moist, not greasy. The house fries were great and before I even realized it, my sweet potatoes fries had been kidnapped by my wife (who was NOT sorry but did allow me a few). This meal was such a hearty helping it left me fully satisfied and unable to find any extra space for dessert. The rest of my crew and I without a doubt enjoyed everything and will be back. We were passing through town and search for something simple to get for a family of four. Worth at the stop, pub style of food but they go the extra mile with diverse tasty offerings and the service was fantastic. The kids had chicken fingers and they were very good. Now that the weather is breaking and Spring is in the air....it's time for this foodie to begin exploring what this great state of Maine has to offer... So first on my "Spring Fling" list was the quaint chill spot called Firehouse Grille. I'll just cut right to the chase....my experience was mind blowing! Every item I had was made to perfection from my signature Jolly Rancher cocktail (my personal favorite with burgers) to the tastebud delightful Cardiac Burger....I cant say enough about this burger (and burgers are one of my favorite things) it was absolutely made to perfection with bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, onion rings, killer barbecue sauce and all the regular fixings. (Your gonna drool when you see the pics!! My side items were tasty and dessert was exceptional. The staff was completely attentive and helpful with suggestions to their menu. It was a great overall experience and warrants multiple visits! This place feels good. Small, cozy, no frills, laid-back, horseshoe bar, booths, varied clientele, friendly wait staff. I've been there a couple of times...got food and beers both times. Food was top notch. I'm still thinking about the pulled pork sandwich I got last night. I never do that. Decent beer selection - normal domestic choices with a few crafty things available. Lively space, quick to fill up, but not so loud you can't have a conversation. Very homey and comfortable. I'm hesitant to recommend this place, lest you all start going and I won't be able to get a table. So, yeah, just forget everything I just said. read more

I travel a lot and like to find local color, not the big chains. Firehouse Grill did not disappoint. I sat at the bar and was immediately engaged in conversation with a local couple. They have quite a few beers on tap, many local, but no printed beer menu, so I had to rely on the server, who did a great job setting me up with a couple of local brews I might not have found. It was wing night so I had 6 buffalo style wings for next to nothing, followed by a steak sandwich with their signature baked beans and some garlicky potatoes. Good conversation continued with others at the bar, if I did not have to drive back to a hotel, I could have stayed way too long. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. I found it just by searching Google for what was in the area for lunch. Super friendly staff that make you feel at home. Great spicy bloody mary, and the Engine company burger was fantastic. Half pound black and bleu burger with an over easy egg, bacon and hot relish. Fantastic, even the fries were awesome. Decent neighborhood bar in New Auburn. I was meeting an old work buddy for beers, so I didn't sample the menu. I've eaten here before and the food is decent and priced fairly. A good number of taps and beer choices, including local beers like Baxter's, as well as the usual IPAs that everyone favors, but me. Lewiston-Auburn doesn't have an abundance of places that are comfortable for having a beer or two and perhaps a sandwich or burger when you are just passing through. Had a solid if unspectacular lunch here today. Firehouse chili: tasted fine, lots of meat in the chili, but unlike their buffalo wings, they had no spice levels. The chili had absolutely no heat whatsoever and benefited greatly from a dozen shakes of tabasco. I also had a cheeseburger with fries and slaw. I was in town for a business trip and stopped by the Firehouse Grille for lunch. I tried to access their menu online but the website wasn't working. I looked at a couple of pictures of the food and the reviews and thought I'd give them a shot. The bar isn't too large and has some great firefighter nostalgia and pictures on the walls. I ordered the garden salad and bowl of chili. I was expecting the salad to be your typical bar style - iceberg lettuce, 2 cucumbers, 1 tomato, and some red onions. I was completely surprised when the bartender brought out a huge garden salad beautifully put together with an array of cucumbers on the outside, carrots, tomatoes, croutons, onions, and a variety of lettuce. It was about twice the size I expected. My first thought ... I should have ordered the CUP of Chili. Shortly after, my bowl of chili came out with a great big hunk of corn bread. The chili was scrumptious with kidney beans, ground beef, sausage, and a not to thick layer of cheese on top. Definitely worth it if you like a hearty chili. There was a little kick to it as well. The corn bread was warm, moist, and full of flavor. It complemented the chili quite well. I ate about 1/2 the salad and 1/2 the chili and I was stuffed. I would have taken it home but I wasn't going to be near a fridge anytime soon. I'd definitely go to the Firehouse grille again if I was in the area.
