We had Autumn for our bartender today, she was lovely and made a flawless bloody Mary! They have a great bloody mix there, not sure if it's house made or from a bottle, but I like it. I love a place that will allow you to order all flats, I will happily pay extra for all flats. I won't even entertain eating the upper part of the wing, too many things happening up there. I always order my wings as chicken, flavored sawdust. I've had salmonella more than once from chicken wings, but I love them too much to stop eating them. These were cooked perfectly! The burger on special was a two patty smash burger with grilled pineapple pickle onions, and a sweet Thai chili aïoli. I added fresh jalapeño and got the aïoli on the side because I wanted to see what it was like. I was really happy. I got it on the side because there was flavorless. It was basically mayonnaise that they mixed sweet Thai sauce with and called aïoli. Also, if it's a sauce that I don't know, I don't trust it, I don't want it on anything before I try it. I think that should be like rule of thumb. But the burger was awesome, I got it with dirty sweet potato fries. Which means I put some Cajun seasoning on it so it had that sweet, salty, spicy element that I love so much. They also have this delicious French pear martini on the specials menu. It was fantastic, it was fresh, bright, not overbearing. I hope that stays on the menu for a minute because it was LOVELY. And I took home a cute little dessert sampler that probably could've done without all the whipped cream over the little dessert squares, but my boys loved them!! I recently visited Baxter Brewing and was very disappointed by the service. The bartender was rude, throwing the menu down without a greeting or any sense of welcome. It took about ten minutes to receive two beers and an appetizer, and there were no plates or silverware until we asked. The bartender never checked in or followed up, even when another guest nearby gave up after being ignored. The food was poor (overcooked), but the lack of basic hospitality made the entire experience feel uninviting. The food typically is average. Bartender spends her time on other employees who are eating. There have been multiple similar experiences with this bartender. The simplest way to ruin a bar is when this happens...patterns of slow service, poor communication, or unprofessional behavior that keep repeating. Same staff, languishing customer volume. read more

When we got to the restaurant there were PLENTY of empty tables not near the party . Appetizer portions are appropriate, not huge. Poutine was solid. The Thai chili wings were very tasty. The jalapeño popper dip was decent, but the chip to dip ratio leaned heavily toward the chips. The Bahn Mi was excellent. And definitely the highlight of the meal! The falafel in the quinoa bowl was burnt, so might have been good otherwise. Service was very pleasant and attentive, even though it was fairly busy. Did not have to wait long to get a table or get served. Would definitely try again. read more

My wife and I stopped here on a whim while we were in town and we are so happy we did. Both of us attended the local college almost four decades ago when this neighborhood was run down and depressing. Over the past decades Lewiston has a done a wonderful job of revitalizing this area. The Pub at Baxter is a perfect example of this success. Located in an historic mill, this restaurant has created a fantastic space that capitalizes on the architectural features. More importantly, the dining experience was excellent. Our server Ava was fantastic and friendly. The food was delivered promptly and delicious. My wife, who does not drink, loved her mocktail which is impressive considering this is a brew pub! I highly recommend you give this place a try. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but extremely rude staff members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food wise I got poutine fries and they were good, I will give them that.. Bartender was nice she let us try a few samples. However, terrible service from host/server. Very rude and unwelcoming. 7 families came in after us and they all left due to the terrible service as well. This speaks volumes. Something needs to change. We went on a Friday at the busy time for dinner around 6 pm, and they had trivia underway. This would probably make it one of the busiest time frames to go. The first waitress was gruff when putting us on the waiting list, which was super unwelcoming, but it was a very busy night. I'm sure, like everyone else, they are very short staffed. It didn't start promising which was really worrisome as I specifically selected this brewery for a birthday dinner and wanted them to enjoy this selection. But I chatted with a blonde waitress to ask if we could at least order a beer while we waited, and she was phenomenal. Super helpful and sweet, and we were sat at the bar instantly. She was probably the warmest customer service we've gotten in Maine. The two wait staff/bartenders at the bar also wonderful. Friendly and attentive and it was a pleasant time. They were managing a lot of customers very impressively - never felt forgotten or in need. Beer selection really is excellent - plenty of variety for all preferences. Nice light options all the way to barrel aged and stouts to ipas. For the non-beer drinkers, there's also seltzers on tap and cocktails. We sampled 10 or so drinks on draft by getting two beer flights, and loved them all. Food was hot and we didn't wait very long considering how busy it was. Pub fare, a little bit more limited on options but generally anyone would be able to find something. I heard too late that the brussel sprouts and banh mi was a favorite. My date enjoyed the buffalo wings. Beer is definitely the star here, as is the facility. Right next to a stream, a few great outdoor patio options that looked even better at night with the fire-lit walkways. The bathrooms are divided, but have a shared sink/mirror area between the two M|F. We'd definitely come back. The birthday person was very happy with all the delicious beer choices. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on our way through Lewiston. WOW. What a fabulous spot. I've always liked Baxter Brewing Stowaway IPA and was excited to visit their brew pub. The restaurant is inside an old mill with a lovely rustic old canal with waterfall. The mill has been beautifully restored with the old rustic timbers sanded to a bright like new finish along with the original sluice pipe/penstocks built into the architecture. The lighting is beautiful cast iron pipe turned into lights giving a very rustic industrial feel. Huge open space. Very cool. The beer was amazing. I ordered the Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon ( on the bartender Keira's recommendation) My wife had the Cesar Salad with Chicken Fingers and fries. The food was spectacular and you can tell it was hand crafted and not the typical SYSCO frozen pre-portioned junk you get at other pubs. The bartender went out of her way to tell my wife straight away that the Cesar Salad would not be coming with croutons as they were not ready baking yet. She offered a substitution of pickled onions. (Most places would just serve the salad without the croutons and hope you wouldn't notice them misssing ). Event though this was a bit out of the way for us, we'll definitely be back as the food, ambiance, service and pricing is well worth the trip. read more

First time visit to BBC. Ok, the entire experience was pretty cool. I know they have eve flu opened the space, so the potential is incredible. The walk up to the gate with the whole space in the background is impressive. At night with the tase lights and all....well can't wait. The space inside is huge and offers all types of seating and standing options. The old mill look and the woods, stones and brick is fantastic. What a fun space and spacious. The staff is very friendly and our wait staff was very attentive to our needs. It was not busy when we arrived but did fill it shortly after. But not a problem in that space. The menu and happy hour specials were great and the tater tots rocked. Loved the mini skillet. I was so glad we stopped by and can't wait to return. Candidly speaking the drinks were great, and the servers were friendly. My only advice is for people to not plan on making this a place for a meal. The kitchen is sadly uncoordinated, something which we can't blame the server for. But in the 3 hours we spent here, we saw only a handful of items leave the kitchen in total. Baxter's-wise, I would stick to Rooper's at home accompanied by a local delivery or takeout service. While the food was good, it's not worth the hours you'll spend wishing, waiting, hoping your food might come out. read more

Bartender took 20 minutes to get back to her- never mentioned time- and when she went to order food was told the KITCHEN WAS CLOSED. She was pissed and so was I since this same bar did the same thing to my girlfriend and I about a month ago. We let it go at the time because we thought it was a one off. But apparently not. NOW the woman beside us says the bartender cut her off at 7:35 after she was given a menu and after the bartender FAILED to check in with her... but apparently she was able to go to a table that a friend had and order her food 10 minutes after the bartender told her the kitchen was closed. This is apparently standard practice at this bar...as well as slow service. They need to get more professional and realize the customers spending good money are more important than the kitchens desire to go home. And why different levels of customer service based on where you're sitting or who you are? Better options in the area? read more

walked over from our hotel to this brewpub in an old mill. beautiful inside, open and inviting. ordered some beers and apps, they were out in seconds. Beers were awesome, food was hot and delicious. big meaty wings, hot and chewy pretzel bites. ordered dinner: Flatbread pizza, Bahn Mi sandwich, house burger, chicken tenders and fries. again, food was out in minutes. We love the atmosphere (lighting, wood beams, brick exc) of this brew pub! This review is from our most recent experience Pros: the fried pickle chips were yummy! Our sever was very attentive and quick. My wife's poutine (added bbq) was well prepared. I ordered my daughter the chicken tender app which was nicely seasoned. Cons: Baxter brewing has great potential IMO I find that many of the beers are just "OK". I have not found one I loved so much I could drink more than one. They are a bit too unfiltered, like you can chew them. Would like to see a strong sour. Maybe you love all their beers and that's great. This is just my opinion. If your not adventurous I would get a filtered blonde and not stray too far off the path. This is coming from a guy who seeks out fruity hazy IPAs. I ordered mg burger well done and as you can see from the picture it is a mid rare variety. Unfortunately I discovered this fact about 3/4 through the burger and didn't want to wait while it was re-cooked. Once again the waiter was very attentive and I'm sure he would have made it right. Lastly, no kids meals. I get it. This is not a kids restaurant per say but a dad's should be able to have a good burger and a beer with his family once in a while ya know? Not saying Baxter has to do kids eat free on Wednesdays. On the other hand I just feel like it's a not so subtle way of saying "leave your kids at home". Make it kid friendly until 8 IDK have some games and invite the parents to feel good about bringing them out and not shoving them on a sitter. Maybe you feel differently and that's okay Overall I had a good experience and I'll be back with the kids prob purchasing them meals at full adult price just to watch them eat 1/2 the portion. We were a party of 14. Waited an hour and a half to get our food. Waitress was never around to order another beer. I went to bar to get another beer and she approached me saying I had to order from her. Fine. Went back to the table and got my beer a half hour later. Absolute insanity. Got here at 6 for a reservation for 15 made months in advance for a graduation. The reservation was lost, and we had to wait an hour to be seated. When we finally got seated we didn't get asked for a drink for another hour. Then the food. So it's 7:30 and we only have water and we finally put our food orders in and it didn't get here until 8:45. Between putting our orders in and receiving them the kitchen continuously ran out of dishes, and people in our party had to change their orders. When comping our bill for the crazy service three hours after we arrived they only deducted 3 drinks for a party of 15! Unbelievable, even if you make reservations and double check and call ahead months in advance, this place is a hot mess. My family member who graduated said it is always like this. I love this spot! If I lived in the area, it would be my go-to for a beer and to just hang out in general. The space is awesome, it's huge inside with plenty of seating at the bar as well as a bunch of tables. The interior is stunning, like a mountain resort with a bunch of history mixed into it. Great beer, super fun atmosphere, but the entire trip and experience was ruined by Brooke. She wasn't even our server, but managed to insult our entire group with her terrible attitude. She came up to a member of our group and asked for his payment, even though he was still drinking and eating. When he said he hadn't paid because he had ordered more drinks, she completely ignored him. When she brought back his receipt and he said it was a different price than what was on his initial bill, she said he "didn't understand how restaurants worked". We would recommend this place for beer, but at all costs, avoid Brooke. read more

There is nothing I hate more, than having to chase down waitress/waiter. Fortunately, you don't have to do that at Baxter Brewing Company. Service was amazing thanks to a flag you put up when you need something. The atmosphere and food were fantastic. Fried pickles are homemade and had nice flavor. The crab Rangoon dip, chicken sandwich and steak sandwich were also great options that were extremely tasty. The Mac and cheese has room for improvement. We tried all the hard ciders on the menu and didn't have a problem with any of them. Lager road was a good beer with a sweet finish. Would definitely recommend this brewery! read more

Friendly and helpful staff that are knowledgeable about their brews. Plenty of seating available and plenty of choices for beer on tap as well. They have their popular year round beers available along with the current seasonal beers. The best beers available though are the small batch brews that employees are encouraged to brew as pilot batches. These are the creative beers that can be more unique since they are brewed in small quantities. You can buy beers in a pint, half pint, or taster sizes. Small batch pilot beers are not available in pint sizes though. If you've never had beer from Baxter Brewing I recommend you get flight 1 or 2 to try a good variety of beers. Then choose your favorite one from the 5 you tried and get a bigger size. I have had over 10 of their beers and enjoyed them all. If you love craft beer come here!
