This place jumped on to my radar early on when they were first being written about in the media. They had/have a lot going for them. Firstly as my reviews show I like breweries based off all the high ratings I have given many breweries. Secondly how can you go wrong when the name and logo is dog related as well as many of their beer names. Along with that they donate a portion of their proceeds every month to different animal causes/rescue groups and donate their spent grain for livestock feed. Lastly it is women owned and operated, which is awesome to see as the brewing industry is in need of more diversity. Along with that they already and continue to plan on offering a larger variety of beer styles than just the popular hop-forward brews. This will lead to a larger variation of offerings to bring in more people. I went on their soft opening night and got to try out their first three brews. I enjoyed all three and look forward to returning to try even more. It is located in a downtown area of Lisbon Falls in a spacious building with plenty of seating. The owners/staff were friendly and very welcoming. I expect big things from this place. Another high quality brewery that is further out from the highly popular beer hub of Portland that I highly recommend checking out.

Cool brewery in a part of the state that needed a local gathering place such as this. Very dog friendly, nice space and good beer.

Nonesuch River Brewing - Poutine and a flight

I was honestly shocked to see a real veggie option on the menu that wasn't a veggie burger (although they have that too), so I had to try the chimichurri tofu. It was cooked well - 4 slices cut thin enough to give it a good crispy exterior. The chimichurri sauce was tasty. However, it feels like whoever created this dish has never cooked with tofu before or at least not very much. My suggestion would be marinating the tofu before cooking. The chimichurri made it somewhat enjoyable (I did finish it all!) but the flavor dissolves quickly as you chew through the tofu. I think marinating it will really seal the deal on that dish. Otherwise, the service was great, very friendly and very prompt. The building is quaint and bigger than it looks from the outside. I think my entree was a little overpriced for what I got at $23, but I digress. I see the vision and wish them success.

I was excited to try this place after seeing that it was so highly rated, but now that I've visited…read moreI'm unfortunately not sure what all the hype is about. But it wasn't all bad--I'll start with the positives! The staff were great--super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also enjoyed the fries, which were plentiful, and the pomegranate blonde ale, which was very refreshing. Although we didn't play, I was happy to see a stack of games on the bar. We were seated upstairs at the recommendation of the hostess. The decor was a little dated but it gave me a cozy and nostalgic feel. Now to the not-so-positives. I ordered the caprese sandwich and in the first bite, I was alarmed to feel something hard, sharp, and un-chewable. Confused, I had to fish whatever it was out of my mouth and found a small piece of what felt like some kind of wood. I realized after a couple minutes that it was the same color and texture as the toothpicks that held the sandwich together. I'm not sure how it got in my mouth--maybe a piece broke off in the kitchen and got stuck in or on the sandwich--but it was the first bite and I wasn't anywhere near where the toothpicks stabbed the sandwiches. Luckily that was the only splintered piece I found in my food, but I was very cautious for the rest of the meal. Honestly, if not for this, this probably would have been a 4-star review, but it put me a little on edge for the rest of the experience. The sandwich itself was decent--the bread was a little charred, but I actually kind of prefer that myself. Caprese sandwiches are always simple and good, as long as the ingredients are decent. The worst part for me was the price. I'm happy to pay a little extra for a great meal, but $18 for a caprese sandwich feels steep. I'm not from around here, so maybe this is normal in these parts where there are limited dinner options. My wife's tofu dinner was $23 for a small portion--back home we could get twice as much tofu for half the price. I always thought city life was more expensive, but I've learned my lesson here!

The flavors are beautiful, surprising and rare (at least in these parts) and very much welcomed. My first visit was to try the food, now it's the service that brings me back. It's a family and they welcome you with open arms. The ever changing specials menu keeps you on your toes and wanting more. It's adventures, exotic and sexy....yes, you heard me, the food is SEXY. This week, I was seconds away from proposing to a miso glazed black cod, before I realized that my or may not be frowned upon. It was silky, sweet and cooked beyond perfection. I paired it with Viberti Piemonte Filebasse, EXQUISITE. I can't say I've ever had a bad meal here, but I have had some better than others and this one stands alone.

Making reservations is extremely easy to do and the ability to find availability for service is great. My date and I enjoyed the custom made lemonades with fresh fruit purées and a touch of Magic! The restaurant appears to be a classical diner in the outside and a posh restaurant on the inside with some eccentric design. The main course of choice for this visit was the steak and frites for the Mrs and the Prime Ribeye and frites for me. The meal was perfectly seasoned and cooked amazingly. For desert we enjoyed the Strawberry and Citrus Pavalova and the Blueberry-Misu. The deserts were tangy, fresh, and not too sweet. 10 out of 10..... over and over!

It is easy with the overabundance of craft breweries to run with the safe and typical options…read more Black Pug certainly does not operate this way and instead experiments with unique flavors along with some more traditional brews. Today marked the first time I have revisited since way back in February of 2019. At that point they had only been open since October 2018. Hard to remember just how much the space had changed but it is still small but not meant in a negative way at all. It's a small but inviting and well decorated space. Plenty of as you would expect Pug pictures and decor, so very cute! I appreciate that they take risks with more unique beer offerings. Including their flagship THAI.P.A that uses ginger and lemongrass and they rotate different flavors into it. Jasmine and hibiscus beers and more. More traditionally they offer a kolsch as well. They also have bottles to go and offer growler (aptly named pug jugs) to go as well. If you can't decide their smaller pours are perfect to sample multiple brews. This visit my wife enjoyed their fruited sour Druidcraft and I got their smoked lager Camp Wood 4 Sale. Both tasty and well made. Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders will help find the perfect beer for you and make you feel welcome in their space. Also although we did not partake this particular weekend they were offering Christmas ornament painting, a great little craft activity! A smaller sized brewery that deserves support and is worth checking out!

They have come a long way and look different in 2025 while still having a good amount of charm and uniqueness it had back then. As you could imagine by the name and the fact they opened in a former Naval Air Station they go heavy on the plane theme. Beer names especially and they offer a good variety of beer styles and have non-beer options for those not interested as well. I have enjoyed every visit including my many visits over the years here. The best time to visit is during the summer or at least nicer weather to fully enjoy their outside space. Arguably the best addition since their opening has been their food program. Think wood fire pizza and some other non-pizza offerings. My wife and I have had their pizza in the past and very much enjoyed it. This time though my wife got their Italian on Focaccia and I got one of their Chicken Bacon Ceasar sandwiches. Instead of typical bread it used a folded pizza dough and both our dishes tasted phenomenal. If you visit trying their food is a must, do not skip on it! Beer wise today we sampled four beers new to us. I got Wings their NEIPA & Vuelo Nocturno Mexican Lager while my wife got their Plane Beer American Lager and the Krösswind Kölsch. We enjoyed all four of them and we were glad to have found so many on tap we had yet to try! Flight Deck may not be an immediate thought when you think of Maine Breweries but they deserve recognition. Offering a well rounded variety of beers and other drinks along with some great food in a unique inviting space! Add it to your brewery bucket list!

There are so many seating options inside and outside, and the outdoor space is especially great. They have covered areas that keep you comfortable in rainy or cold weather, and there are always fun activities happening outside. The beer is consistently good. We haven't tried one we didn't enjoy. The pizza and sandwiches are also really solid and perfect for grabbing a quick lunch. The service is always fantastic. Every person behind the bar has been friendly and welcoming each time we've visited. One of the things we appreciate most is that they allow dogs inside. Our puppy loved relaxing while we enjoyed our food and drinks, which makes it such an easy spot for dog owners. The location on a former military base adds a really unique atmosphere, and they do a great job leaning into that theme with thoughtful details throughout. Overall, it's a great place with great beer, great people, and an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend. Cheers!
