I think this place has real potential. We're in the area temporarily and have noticed there's not much without driving 20+ minutes away, so we gave this place a shot. I was honestly shocked to see a real veggie option on the menu that wasn't a veggie burger (although they have that too), so I had to try the chimichurri tofu. It was cooked well - 4 slices cut thin enough to give it a good crispy exterior. The chimichurri sauce was tasty. However, it feels like whoever created this dish has never cooked with tofu before or at least not very much. My suggestion would be marinating the tofu before cooking. The chimichurri made it somewhat enjoyable (I did finish it all!) but the flavor dissolves quickly as you chew through the tofu. I think marinating it will really seal the deal on that dish. Otherwise, the service was great, very friendly and very prompt. The building is quaint and bigger than it looks from the outside. I think my entree was a little overpriced for what I got at $23, but I digress. I see the vision and wish them success. read more

I was excited to try this place after seeing that it was so highly rated, but now that I've visited I'm unfortunately not sure what all the hype is about. But it wasn't all bad--I'll start with the positives! The staff were great--super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also enjoyed the fries, which were plentiful, and the pomegranate blonde ale, which was very refreshing. Although we didn't play, I was happy to see a stack of games on the bar. We were seated upstairs at the recommendation of the hostess. The decor was a little dated but it gave me a cozy and nostalgic feel. Now to the not-so-positives. I ordered the caprese sandwich and in the first bite, I was alarmed to feel something hard, sharp, and un-chewable. Confused, I had to fish whatever it was out of my mouth and found a small piece of what felt like some kind of wood. I realized after a couple minutes that it was the same color and texture as the toothpicks that held the sandwich together. I'm not sure how it got in my mouth--maybe a piece broke off in the kitchen and got stuck in or on the sandwich--but it was the first bite and I wasn't anywhere near where the toothpicks stabbed the sandwiches. Luckily that was the only splintered piece I found in my food, but I was very cautious for the rest of the meal. Honestly, if not for this, this probably would have been a 4-star review, but it put me a little on edge for the rest of the experience. The sandwich itself was decent--the bread was a little charred, but I actually kind of prefer that myself. Caprese sandwiches are always simple and good, as long as the ingredients are decent. The worst part for me was the price. I'm happy to pay a little extra for a great meal, but $18 for a caprese sandwich feels steep. I'm not from around here, so maybe this is normal in these parts where there are limited dinner options. My wife's tofu dinner was $23 for a small portion--back home we could get twice as much tofu for half the price. I always thought city life was more expensive, but I've learned my lesson here! read more

Food was very good. The place is typical for Poland Maine. I'm sure in the summer with the lake there the sunsets are probably fantastic.

First time to visit this location. Lovely view of the lake, with outdoor seating on a back deck of the restaurant, and picnic tables on the shore of the lake. The onion rings appetizer was the hit of the evening! be sure to ask for extra sauce. Our party had two sandwiches. One we got with the side of fries, and the fries are some of the best we have ever had. The side salad was very good and generous in portion. Service was friendly and effective. read more

We were here before - right when it became Nonesuch and the experience at that time was - well, not great! We thought we'd stop today and give 'em another try. It was quite good! The only thing that made it not five star was that it seemed to take a while (I blamed the caesar salad - which was wonderful - but wondering if they had to "make it".) I had the burger, an extremely good burger - with Pineland smoked cheddar, bacon and the works. And, speaking of works - the onion strings were sooooo good (but there were a LOT of them!) Wayne was being good, had the caesar as his side, to go with what he called one of the best Italian sandwiches - it was the NRB Italian. We asked Terri for extra plates because I had some of his salad and he had some of my onion strings. I had a Pilsner and Wayne enjoyed a marzen - both were quite good. I love that Nonesuch has come to this region! I've gone to the big barn location in Scarborough several times, and was very excited to see their brews and bites land in the former Cindy's Dockside location. This is a prime location for people from the region looking for a nice night out as well as for "people from away" passing through. I loved the service and the view. The food was very decent for pub fare. Plenty of parking. I had a wonderful time with friends. My only complaint was that space-wise is it still felt like the previous establishment. Stopped for a late lunch the service and people were very kind we did have to wait a little but it was only 5-10 min. worth it because the drinks were perfect food tasted amazing lots of flavor even the fries had flavor. It's on the pricier side but there always seems to be a coupon floating around or on the internet. And the food doesn't disappoint so at least you are getting your moneys worth. We were excited to check this place out as we're local so we're scoping it out as a potential "regular". We visited July 3rd and sat outside at a picnic table overlooking the boats docked there and people heading out to kayak. In my experience, outdoor dining is sometimes lacking in service. Not here! These guys were amazing and we had the best meal and the staff was beyond attentive. Hubby got the fish and chips, and I got the cobb salad with chicken. Hubby said it was delicious and nicely priced based on the portions. My Cobb salad was amazing! The chicken was cooked perfectly. The bacon was real bacon! and all the dressings and dips for my salad and hubby's fish and chips tasted homemade. read more

This place is recently taken over by Nonesuch River brewing. Menu is classic pub fare. I had the Duxelle burger which was pretty good and very close to rare, as ordered. Really wish that Restaurants started using better (sourdough) buns for burgers though. We also had the thin onion rings (no batter at all) which were nice and crispy (portion was large for 2 people). My partner the fried chicken sandwich which was nice and crispy with jummy classic coleslaw. A plus was that the buns were lightly toasted so they were warm. 4.4 stars. We've been twice now. The setting is nice and they seem to be dedicated to making it nicer. The beer is solid. The staff and manager/owner are outstanding. This was kinda odd. I've been to Nonesuch in Scarborough before and it's a beautiful expansive building, high ceilings, and gorgeous gleaming hardwood. This place has a Walmart rug from the 90s and bar stools and tables straight out of your grandfathers basement. Still, it's right on Range Pond and offers lovely views. Third time we went. Strike three they are out. It was my husband's birthday dinner. He ordered fish n chips $22. The fish was over cooked. The three pieces were too crunchy to eat. He had to throw the coating away. I ordered the scallops with risotto and squash puree. The scollops were good. The risotto tasted like overcooked rice that had been sitting around for some time. No flavor! There was a spoonful of orange liquid over a tiny part of the rice. Maybe a spoonful but the rice absorbed it so quickly there was no flavor. Very disappointing! We had gotten fish chowder to start. It was barely warm and then I found a bone in mine so I was done. I had a margarita. They do not do frozen. I have had others that were not frozen. This one was not enjoyable at all. Mostly ice cubes in a small glass. We spent $112 before tip. What a terrible experience. The two times before the food was okay. We thought maybe it was because they were just starting up. But we definitely won't be going back. Their menu is limited and everything we have tried has been terrible. Stopped in here with a friend for lunch. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Casual dining room with a large fireplace at one end, with windows overlooking a small lake marina. With the all-wood interior, it was a little noisy, but not too bad. Was expecting typical bar food, but were we ever wrong! Had the small plate Italian mussels (which actually was a large plate) with thin slices of sausage in an incredible broth, complete with rustic toasted bread to soak it up with. It was superb!
