The food is absolutely awful! I had a burger. It was obviously one of the pre-fab, frozen ones that you buy by the case at Sam's Club or Costco. I bit into a bone chip on my first bite. The person I was with bought a calamari salad. Again, these were pre-fab, frozen, rubbery rings of skate wings - served on a bed of pre-chopped salad greens like the type you buy in a bag at Hannaford that have browning and slimey edges. I cannot believe that this place stays in business as a restaurant, because they put zero effort into their food. Skip it! There are much better places to eat in the area. read more

I was coming here several times a year as a traveling salesperson. All done as Tuscan Grill down the road replaced this restaurant due to terrible service in the lounge. The food at Antonia's is good but the God awful service at the bar is not worth the effort to go back. My niece came with me for dinner tonight and she said to me "Is this bartender for real?" As we sat there and watched her serve two people drinks And ignore us for 15 minutes. I said goodbye to the bartender on the way out the door and she said "I'm getting g your soda right now" A classic case of good food and awful service. Ordered a large pizza to go and was still hot when I brought it inside my apartment. Acropolis: chicken broccoli, tomato, and feta cheese and I opted for the white sauce. Served dressing on the side for dipping. Even with the added pizza liner underneath it was soaked in grease but was still very tasty. We've been to Antonia's a handful of times and have had no problem with the food. Service has always been hit or miss, but tonight was just awful. Tonight my wife and I arrived and were promptly seated. Getting drinks took 15 minutes. We had to get up and ask the bartender for cups of ice for our warm bottled sodas. My wife had asked our server twice for ice. The food arrived after a lengthy wait. My wife had penne with meatballs and I had penne with sausage. Both of our pastas were swimming in water. The penne was completely overcooked and had no flavor. There was a laughable amount of sauce on mine and the sausage had been microwaved to a degree of burnt that left the sausage like leather. It was very sad. Our waitress never once asked if we were enjoying the food. She only showed up to bring the check and offer a take home box which we declined. It took a very long time to get bad food and horrid service. We won't be going back. read more

I had a souvlaki chicken salad. It was a decent size portion with a great tasting house dressing. The best feature was the grilled chicken . They were nice sized morsels that was perfectly grilled and it so tender. The bread that were given with butter was great tasting too. I have been trying to do a low carb diet and ate mostly the crust . It was a great tasting crusty bread nonetheless. If you like bread opt for this rather than the pita bread. Hubby had the tenderloin steak kebab. I had a piece of tenderloin and no pun intended it was tender! It comes with basmati rice. Nicely plated. Our app was Buffalo chicken wings. With Vermont in the rear view mirror, my friend and I drove about 4 hours across New Hampshire to the land of lobster: Maine. Deciding to have dinner here at the pizzeria restaurant near the Freeport hotel. We arrived here around 5:30pm after checking into the hotel and quickly grabbing a bite. We decided to eat here, since we saw it on the way in on the way to the hotel. Pizza and pasta generally works anywhere marathon runners are basically. With that said, we got a table almost immediately, since it was a Sunday evening in Freeport, Maine. Not much action up here I guess on a Sunday evening. With that said, my experience here at Antonia's Pizzeria in Freeport Maine took about an hour. I ended up getting the loaded burger with French fries, because who doesn't like a burger with bacon on it. For drinks, I opted for a Sam Adams beer, along with water on the side. My friend opted for a pasta dish, which was appropriate, since he was also attempting another marathon, but in Maine this time on the next morning. It's pretty crazy, but the travel and run life suits me very much. The ambiance was nice and quite. Casual and interesting. I say interesting because we got to witness someone's birthday celebrations and they were pretty loud and was sitting a few tables near us. While I was happy for the birthday boy, it was loud enough to ignore it and to try to enjoy a quiet Sunday evening dinner. It is what it is. Thankfully, they left after we placed our order in with the server and that was good. The overall experience here at Antonia's Pizzeria here in Freeport, Maine was low key, quite nice, and typical of any restaurant vibe you may or may not have come in contact with. While there was a birthday party in progress and the party was loud enough to notice, it didn't damper my own experience one bit. In fact, it was nice to hear that during my experience here in Freeport, Maine. For the most part though, Antonio's Pizzeria was the hidden gem that was the oasis after the drive from Fairlee, Vermont, cutting across New Hampshire. The service was good and typical, with a friendly smile. We spent about an hour here and getting a rest from car was actually invigorating for sure. The restaurant itself felt like a diner than actual restaurant, but that's how they set it up. The ambiance was good, although I thought the air conditioning was somewhat lacking during my experience. The food was good and delicious. The Sam Adams beer really hit the spot after popping a 26.2 mile effort in Vermont the day before. I guess that's my reward for that along with dinner in Maine. Thanks Antonia's Pizzeria for making that possible, although truth be told, you were located perfectly nearby our hotel for the night. If you are nearby the Freeport, Maine area, consider coming here to Antonio's Pizzeria. It's a good time all around and the alcohol is always fun. Antonia's Pizzeria is located at 193 Lower Main Street in Freeport, Maine. They accept major credit cards, which is always great for the traveling folk, like me, as well as cash. It's Maine however, so 99% of the state is rural. Best bet would be to have a private vehicle or rent a car to get here. I believe Amtrak goes to Portland, Maine, but it's car, rented or your own from there. Antonio's has a generous amount of parking slots available for everyone and anyone who is in the area and wishes to dine here. You will be out of luck as far as public transportation goes, but the nearest commercial airport available is also in Portland, Maine. So if you have a craving for pizza and nearby Freeport, consider coming here. It's likely out of the way for many people, but if you want a good slice or five, come on down. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times and have always enjoyed our meal. The place is large, clean and well organized and the stuff is friendly. I traveled to Maine on vacation from North Carolina this September, and along the way we stopped into this place, completely on a whim. I have to say that Antonia's Pizzeria is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in my life. I ate there on two occasions during my trip, and both days that I was there the service was fantastic. Staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and clean. The food is nothing short of amazing. I had the Chicken Carbonara on my first visit, which was very good. The chicken had a slight charred flavor, which I personally am not a fan of, but those that are will love it. However, even with the charred taste, I loved this dish. The pasta was cooked excellently, and was very flavorful. On my second visit, I had a simple pepperoni and cheese calzone. And let me say, this thing was a force to be reckoned with. Extremely large portion size, but that's fine! The calzone was crispy and cooked to perfection, and the ingredients were fresh and cooked well. Everything was great! I think the standout to me were two of the side items that I had, believe it or not. Specifically, the French fries, and the garlic bread appetizer. The French fries were, without exaggeration, the best fries I've ever had. Crispy, but not too hard. Seasoned perfectly. Delicious. The garlic bread was just as good. My only complaint with the garlic bread is that the portion was rather small. My table of four was only served four pieces of bread. For a $5 appetizer, it would be nice to get a few extra pieces, especially for larger groups. Finally, while it is a small note, I have to touch on the drink situation. While I do recall some fountain drinks being present, certain items, such as sweet tea for example, was bottled only. I may be wishing for a lot to see fresh iced tea this far north, but nonetheless I feel it should be mentioned. Overall, this restaurant impressed me. In fact, I was blown away. I find myself slightly angry that this restaurant is over 800 miles away from home, or I would be a frequent customer. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by. You won't regret it. read more

A solid 3-3.5 place. Our server was wearing many hats and wearing them well. The place was packed and it didn't look as if there were enough staff working. We ordered penne with pesto- the pesto plate had several slices of oil on the plate; ravioli- served blazing hot but the filling was a little gritty; and a cheese pizza- not cut well but good. Salads were fresh and well done. The pastas came with a two bun like pieces of garlic bread- they were made in house and fresh. The place was a mixture of locals and out of towers like ourselves. Maybe I'm a pizza snob because I live in Connecticut and we have some of the best. But this pizza was not good at all. First of all when I called, the young girl was in such a rush. We had a group of five and a small infant and we were promptly seated even though it was lunch time on New Year's day. Our waitress got our drinks and food ordered quickly and the food came out shortly after. We had spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer and I have to say this is the best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever had. I had the Diavolo pizza because I enjoy spicy food and I loved it. We were famished after hiking a nearby trail and randomly picked Antonio's for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. Every one of us enjoyed what we got. The pastrami on a sub roll was stuffed, cheesy and toasted perfectly. The onion rings were battered, which I personally prefer over breaded. As a local, I always try to support small businesses especially in a town where tourism soars in the summer but off season can be tough. My husband and I were so disappointed on our last visit, I couldn't help but wonder what happened to this generational family business. The service was terrible. We witnessed our waitress sitting at a table with what was probably her family while so many tables were waiting. One couple walked out. The music was rap and so loud, we couldn't hear ourselves. If I could give a negative number I would. Just ate there tonight October 15th. We are locals and have eaten there since they opened. This was the worst experience ever at any restaurant I have dined at. They were under staffed and it was very crowded. I waited for 25 minutes at my table before anyone came over. I ordered the Baja Gyro which I have had before. The pita is supposed to be soft. Not tonight. It was grilled and crispy to cover up the fact that it was freezer burned. It was disgusting. My husband ordered a roast beef sandwich and he specifically said he only wanted Mayo, lettuce and tomato. He hates onions. It arrived with onions and green peppers. He tried to order a side salad with no onions but the waitress said the salads were pre made and she couldn't ask the kitchen staff to make a salad with no onions. Like what the heck?! He ended up ordering a side Caesar salad. He ordered a pizza to go with light sauce. The sauce was not light. Additionally, they put way too much oregano in the sauce. You may want to avoid dining here until you see more positive reviews. I don't regularly write reviews on restaurants unless it's a really positive experience or a really negative experience. I have never had an experience this bad - certainly not at a place we frequent. Please get your act together Antonia's. We will not go there again for a very long time if ever. We will go to Foreside House of Pizza in Falmouth instead. They can always accommodate a request for a sandwich and salad with no onions. read more

Well we really wanted to eat here. We got seated at a table as soon as we walked in. We sat there over 20 and were not waitd on by anyone, no one even took our drink order. Someone was seated behind us quite a while after us and they got waited on almost immediately. We got tired of waiting and left. I get it if they were short handed but it was a bit much. I looked around while we were waiting and multiple tables were still waiting to pay their bill, and they were waiting when we got seated. I had heard so many great things about this pizzeria and the quality of the food. So, we decided to go on our way out of Freeport Festival of Lights looking forward to some great Italian food. I could see where we were going with the visit when the table next to us had to send their food back three times (food was cold, had no cheese when it was supposed to, and a hair in the food) so this wasn't giving me the warm and fuzzies but was gonna see how it went. I ordered the calzone, my son ordered the buffalo bone-in wings with ranch dinner and my wife ordered a pineapple personal pizza. My calzone was very good but they came out with buffalo chicken fingers instead of bone in wings but he just went with it and my wife's pizza was missing one of the toppings that she asked to go with the vegan cheese and pineapple. She then refilled my Diet Coke with a regular coke ... I can tell the difference and I asked her if it was diet and she said nope let me get it for you. So, 2 out of the 4 dishes or things we ordered were wrong not including the table next to us. Maybe it was a bad day or seasonal help but it was still tough to see. Hopefully next time it will be a better experience service and cooking am wise. read more
