I haven't been here in forever, it never was a place that thrilled me. But I ran into an old friend who said they'd been in the kitchen here for the past 6+ years, so I had to give em another shot. Damn! I don't know if they stepped up their game, if last time I was here was an off day or if my man in the kitchen has anything to do with it. But this place lives in a while different place in my brain. Apps Asparogi Avvolti: Prosciutto wrapped asparagus with fontina cheese and balsamic glaze. Sweet young asparagus, wrapped in salty prosciutto with nutty fontina melted over the topped, drizzled with the perfect about if sweet glaze. Fried Calamari: calamari, fried cherry peppers, arugula, and cherry pepper aïoli. Fresh, breading was light and crispy. My only complaint here is there weren't enough tentacles, a lot of rings. I usually only eat tentacles because the rings are usually close cousins to rubber bands. That was not the case here, but I still wanted more tentacles. Either way very delicious. Main Brick Oven Brie Pizza!! Amazing, they crossed perfect, light chewy cooked through, not soggy in the middle. Everything you want out of pizza crust. I find myself constantly disappointed in the Lewiston Auburn area when it comes to pizza. There's one other place I go that's in Auburn, it's nice to know there is a second option if you want a pizza crust that doesn't taste and feel like cardboard. I will be back to try more things and let you know all about them. read more

My son brought me to this spacious and gorgeous restaurant while I was visiting him in Lewiston, ME. The brick and wooden beam architecture from the old milll remains which provides such an aesetically pleasing atmosphere. It is great that this building has been able to be repurposed . We sat at the bar which is a full bar. My son dines here often and recommened some dishes he had tried. There were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try! Garlic knots were the first things out and they were very tasty and addictive. My son decided on the linguini carbonara, although not a classic carbonara dish, it remains one of his favorites. I tried it and it was creamy, indulgent, fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I chose the gnocchi with in house made bolognese sauce topped with ricotta cheese. I loved it and it tasted even better heated up the next day. Entrees come with a choice of soup or salad; he went with the salad and I had the homemade Italian wedding soup. We were both pleased with our choices. The portions were quite generous, service was on point all evening, and the entire establishment and restrooms were immaculately clean and well organized. We stopped in for lunch and had a solid experience, just as we've come to expect from DaVinci's. It's one of our favorite places to sit at the bar, and after not visiting for nearly a year (crazy, right?!), we were happy to find that it still met--and honestly exceeded--our expectations. We sat at the bar, where the bartenders were attentive, friendly, and truly a step above. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, which made the experience feel effortless and welcoming. The food was delicious as always. I enjoyed the simple yet perfectly executed fettuccine Alfredo, and my husband loved his eggplant panini. And of course, those garlic notes were absolutely drool-worthy! read more

Over priced food that is not memorable. There was nothing wrong with this place, it had a nice ambiance inside (medium lighting, nice large space with exposed brick walls, interesting art/design inside (such as bicycles and vespas), and not too loud. However, that's about all I can say on the positive side. The food is overpriced (for example, $30 for a non-memorable gnocchi dish), $22+ for less than average pasta dishes, etc. I'm saying this based off of the dish I ordered myself and then other dishes the three guests I ate with got. The side Caesar salad was smothered in mayonnaise and had little to no flavor. The pizza was ok, but it was supposed to be a margherita pizza and didn't have any sauce... legit just cheese and large clumps of canned garlic and a few pieces of fresh tomato on top. Pretty sad. 2.5/10 stars, maybe. Service was mediocre. Servers were friendly and got seated quick. But then when we ordered we asked for a few things such as a side lemon wedge and an extra napkin and both had to be asked for twice (not a big deal but also, an easy thing to remember). They did help us out by splitting the bill into four separate checks, but that was the most helpful/best thing that happened for the whole dining experience. Again, there was nothing TERRIBLE about this place, but it was so sub par I would never go back nor recommend it to anyone. read more

Met up with some family tonight. Haven't seen in years. We had a wonderful time outside o their patio. Perfect weather. We were in the shade, not too hot or chilly, just perfect. Our waitress, Jessica was so pleasant. She gave us glasses of water, and came back to take our drink order. And later took our food order. Great place to get together with family or friends. I ordered the tiramisu martini. Beautifully made. Taste just like a liquid tiramisu, and chocolate. My Cobb salad was gorgeous. I loved the toppings. Crispy bacon bites, avocado, grape tomatoes, blue cheese hard boiled egg slices. Beautiful crispy fresh salad. Enjoyed everything I had read more

Went recently with family. There were 14 of us but our waitress was polite and very good. The rolls were amazing. The food came fast and was hot and well presented. And oh so good. Stuffed mushrooms are excellent along with lasagna, mushroom risotto and wedding soup were all excellent. Seafood Pomadoro is extremely attractive, sauce lacks seafood flavor. The seafood in the preparation of the dish varied ,clams, mussels and shrimp excellent, scallops very dry. All in all would recommend restaurant. As visitors from out of state, this was only our second dinner at this eatery (the first time was the winter of 2010!), and it was as great as we remembered. The building is a refurbished mill, immaculately restored, and while voices are everywhere, you don't have to yell to have a conversation. Warm woods and soft lighting make it super cozy, especially in the dark of winter, which it was on our first visit. There is a good parking lot directly across the street from the entrance. Spencer is an amazing server - polished and witty, and he delivered our experience with panache. The servings are VERY generous. Our salads (beet salad, and cranberry walnut) were entree sized, and I love that, but others might prefer to share it between two people. The lettuce was extremely tender yet crispy. And, vegetarians rejoice, it is no problem to hold the bacon on the cranberry walnut salad. They were so beautiful when they arrived, we were halfway through them before we realized I had failed to take pictures. The same occurred when we had the tiramisu for dessert! However, I did get my wits about me to capture pictures of the entrées. The pizza was delicious, but it wasn't a classic Marguerita; it was made with a lot of standard mozzarella instead of slices of fresh mozzarella. We held my spouse's surprise 60th birthday party there. In the weeks leading up to the event, the staff was very helpful in helping me figure out details. My friend was in charge of the cake. When she arrived, she told me the cake had slid off her car seat in traffic. DaVinci's bakery took it and salvaged what they could and making it look presentable. Very thankful for that. The positive experience started with me calling to make a reservation. She was very nice and it sounded busy and they were able to accommodate a table for 4 people at 4pm (don't judge, I like an early dinner LOL) I thought, would it really be that busy on a Tuesday?....Well when we left at 6pm, there was a wait and the place was packed, including the parking area - people followed us to our spot to wait for us to leave. There is a great parking lot just across the street - 2 hr max which is just about right for eating at DaVinci's - service is quick. The only thing that slowed us down, was the fact I was having a hard time choosing my food and drink because there were so many great options to choose from. I think they had at least 25 local beers on draft and in bottles. Our service was very sweet and patient and smiled the entire time. One of the most pleasant servers I have encountered lately. I had a great great IPA from the draft list - Pulp Truck by Marsh Island Brewing. It was fresh for sure. Drank the tall size, almost too quickly. LOL We enjoyed garlic knots while we waited (briefly) for our calamari appetizer. There were plenty for the table to enjoy with the deliciously seasoned olive oil for dipping. The calamari appetizer was crispy and delicious with the balsamic drizzle. Our meals came out about 15minutes later which was perfect timing as I batted clean up on the apps for the table. YUM! I ordered the Linguine Carbonara with chicken - it was perfectly cooked and plated!!! I wish there was an option for a poached egg on top. It was perfect though and would absolutely get it again. I will enjoy my leftovers today - because the portions were definitely large. Everyone in my group enjoyed their dishes, Chicken Parm, Ravioli and Veal Parm. When we walked in I noticed the dessert case, so I made sure, I kind of saved room for it. LOL Actually I just over ate. I ordered the monster cheesecake and it was totally worth it. It was creamy and delicious. I didn't want to share, but I did share one bite with my husband. We were able to split the check with ease - no hassle and in fact she offered to do it before we had to ask. Our checks were processed fast as well. Every part of our experience was great. Great Italian restaurant in downtown Lewiston. The restaurant is awesome, great decor in an old mill with exposed wooden beams. Scooters and bikes are all over the walls as decoration. The service was fantastic, excellent timing with food. The meal came with parmesean knots which were very good. My eggplant caprese sandwich was excellent. It was eggplant parmesean, buratta, spinach, balsamic on ciabatta bread. It came with a small salad. The sandwich and knots could of used some more flavor, more spices or flavorful cheese or herbs, but other than that it was excellent. read more

We have a kid at Bates and we visit DaVinci's every time we are in Lewiston. It's one place in town that has something everyone likes and is solid. As for the food, the garlic knots alone are almost worth the visit. They are amazing! We also love the calamari, the Luna di Luna. Our favorite pizza is Bee Sting...someone orders it every time. Pastas are also great. We especially like Fettuccini Alfredo and the Chicken Amore. The chicken parm is good but steer away from the veal Marsala. Service is usually okay but varies a bit depending on the server you get. The ambiance is cozy and energetic at the same time. If you are looking for a good casual meal, this is the place. read more

Came here for a weekday lunch as a group of five without a reservation and we were seated right away. Our server was Spencer, who was friendly, attentive, and did a great job. First of all: their garlic rolls with dipping oil? Amazing. I should have asked for some to go. Their menus in the restaurant don't mention their lunch specials, but luckily I had checked the online menu first and was able to score a broiled haddock special that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. The haddock came with broccoli and roasted tomatoes. The fish definitely could have used a bit more seasoning/acid, as could the broccoli. They used way too much oil on it, so the end of the dish was very oily and messy. The other people in my party got the farro salad (tasted great until the end when the farro was basically mush thanks to the extra oil and was inedible); the chicken parm (ate it all up happily), the penne milano (loved it and saved it for later), and the melanzana (looked like a big mess but was delicious; portion was huge). We ended up getting some cannoli for the road. The prices were very reasonable; it cost just over $100 for our meal before tip. Definitely worth a stop! read more

It has been quite some time since I indulged in some Italian cuisine and this time I dined with a group of colleagues. The front end staff was very friendly and we had a reservation which was kept. When you make a reservation with a group though, they may set a time limit. In our case we had a reservation at 5:30pm and the Manager gave us 2 hours. I am not a big fan of being limited to an end time especially when ordering drinks and appetizers for a group of 7, and that is the reason for my 4 stars on this second review. I was more impressed with the food this time around. I felt he quality and quantity were more consistent with other Italian restaurants I have dined in. The bruschetta was very good. The bread was. nice and crunchy, the dice the tomato and onions was perfect and there was a right amount of acid to fully enjoy the offering. We had a few gluten free colleagues and ordered two gluten free pizzas, one veggie and one with meat. I have never had gluten free pizza dough and honestly I was impressed. I enjoy the nice crunch crust with a slight chew to the dough. They used the right amount of cheese, the veggie pizza had a good amount of veggies, but the meat pizza was a bit scattered with meat mostly to one side. The pizza was good to eat cold later that night from the remaining slices I brought home. The calamari, French fries and wings all tasted good, were cooked well and the flavor was good throughout those appetizers. Their alcoholic drinks are a bit on the pricey side. a Jack and Pepsi will run you $10. The drink was not strong, so I would price it around the $8 range compared to other dining options in the area. Overall, I was more impressed this time around, and the waitress was amazing. She remembered everyone's order, knew exactly what everyone was drinking when asking if we wanted refills. I believe we left a pretty decent tip on top of the mandatory 20% applied to the bill for being a part 6 or more. I would come back and try some of these appetizers again. read more

This summer, so far, we have been here twice. Each visit has been a really nice experience. Managed to get seated without reservations, and no hassles. A decent selection of beer and wine. The bread knots are a delicious guilty indulgence. Minestrone soup is a good start to a meal. Our first trip we enjoyed the Dirty Peas pasta dish, and an order of ravioli. Second trip with friends, some folks ordered Salmon, and eggplant parm. All was delicious. Bring an appetite, or plan to take some home. read more

This place was pretty good! I definitely enjoyed it, as well as everyone else in my party. The garlic knots served were a hit. Super warm and a nice herby olive oil was paired to dip in. You really can't go wrong with that. The calamari was served with a spicy aioli and a sweet balsamic, which balanced out the salty and sweet pairing. Nice crispy pieces and I love when the little tentacles are served and not just the rings! We all enjoyed our side salads as well, they were served with fresh lettuce and dressings aside. The burrata was okay, didn't seem like the freshest piece. Normally a slice to the burrata would pour out once cut open, but the inside of this one was more solid like a piece of fresh mozzarella, this was probably my only issue. My pasta, along with everyone else's very all enjoyed to the fullest. We ranged from getting things like the Chicken Amore, Baked Eggplant and the baked pasta dishes. One of us also got the salmon that was served amongst risotto, another hit! The interior of the restaurant was very rustic Italian like and the dim lighting made the experience more intimate. HELLO loyal fans! Charlotte and I recently found ourselves exploring Lewiston Maine after we went to a record store to pick up compact discs of the albums "Clancy" as well as "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess." (Both great records, let us know if you want that review!) we ended up entering an abandoned mill, where they gave us scrumptious Italian food! It reminded me of when father Andrew James Rhododendron showed me his dark powers... anywho, the chicken parm was HASHTAG YUMMM! oh and don't get us going on those garlic knots... ***Deep Sigh*** So, today I was out running errands and realized I was getting hungry, after the great experience I had a few days ago I thought why not! Well, today the place was super busy and there was a 30-minute waitlist unless I wanted to sit at the bar, no problem it's just me. Once at the bar it's pretty standard practice for the bartender to come over, introduce themselves, and take my drink order. My server/ bartender ( Lara) according to my receipt because she never introduced herself walked over to me and said " Can I get you a drink sir?" Like I was some sort of an annoyance. I took a deep breath and ordered my usual Arnold Palmer and a water with lemon. She came over set the glasses down and actually threw the straws at me and walked away. By this time I'm like what am I missing?!?!? She is smiling at all the other customers, laughing, and even checking in on their meals. As for me, I ordered two entrees, Cesar salad, and two drinks all of which came out at the same time by the way so by the time I finished my salad, my $30.00 pizza was barely lukewarm! But wait! There's more...by this time everyone else has their food and is eating. I was also not given my complimentary garlic knots that come with every entree, which everyone else Miraculously got, but I didn't. As an emotionally intelligent, astute, intuitive person, I surmised that Lara is a Big ole-RACIST!! Yep. The only difference between me and all the other patrons at the bar was I was the only person of color there. Even when she handed me the check it was painful for her to thank me for coming in today. I really hated to write this but she basically ruined this place for me. The food is not worth dealing with this level of ignorance. Dining in has been a good experience in the past. This was our second recent take out experience. I do not recommend. Having small children, we placed an order and went to my office, since it was unusually busy. It took 15 minutes longer than told, waiting for knots to be done. And although we ordered five entrees, we received three and half knots. And the tiramisu was melted. I called back and spoke to the manager, Alex, who although given the chance, he didn't apologized, just defended how the food was packed, by himself. The meal was ok, but not worth $90. read more
