Veggie breakfast sandwich and iced coffee
    Nikita S.

Lovely experience here on a summer weekend morning! It's a small place, but clearly everything is homemade in front of you. I got the veggie breakfast sandwich sandwich and an iced coffee. There are plenty of ways to dress your iced coffee, including whole milk, oat milk, and half and enough. They also have a homemade simple syrup, which I really appreciate for iced drinks. The breakfast sandwiches took a little while to come out, but we were happy to wait. There's cute seating both inside and outside. Once we got our sandwich, it was awesome. Fairly sized for the price, which wasn't too expensive, and generously topped. It was full without being bursting, so I felt like I could actually eat it as a sandwich. They have a couple ketchup and hot sauce options as well, which I appreciated. no notes!

A hidden gem that we stumbled upon while looking for a place to grab breakfast before heading to the airport. The breakfast sandwiches were not only very tasty, but very filling as well. The eggs on them were so fluffy and could not have been cooked any better! All three of us got a different version of a breakfast sandwich and we were all very pleased. We also couldn't resist grabbing a pastry to go with our sandwiches. The pumpkin muffin, peanut butter cookie with chocolate and the blueberry coffee cake were all delicious. So much so that we ordered a pumpkin muffin and peanut butter cookie with chocolate to go! The coffee was enjoyable as well, smooth and not too strong. No lattes here but there was creamer and flavored syrup available for us to add to our coffee, for those who wanted it. Not only was the food great, but the service was as well. Friendly atmosphere that just made you glad you came. Highly recommend this place and will go back if I am in the area again.

We went in search for a great breakfast sandwich but found so much more. The breakfast sandwich was delicious with these awesome fluffy eggs )still wondering how you get them so fluffy) the bacon was perfect crispy just like we hoped for. The avocado , cheese and egg was so good. Looted with avocado. The thing I can not rave enough about was the lemon ginger scone. I have not tasted anything like that before.. I am tempted to get back in the car and get another one. The scone had a natural lemon flavor with large pieces of ginger it was amazing!!! The inside of the bakery is very cute and welcoming as is the owner and staff. I have put this on my must go back list , they also have lunch which I am definitely going to try. As a side not they have compostable straws, lids and cups

Great breakfast and bakery spot, you feel as though you're sitting in someone's kitchen. Best part, gluten free roll for a breakfast sandwich. Good food, nice staff. Make sure to stop by!

5 stars for the best muffin in history. I almost didn't get it and then it changed my life. Thank you!

After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. I do wish the setup was a bit more conducive to the big crowds as there isn't much space from the front door to the counter but still a fantastic find!

On this trip, we stopped at the smaller West End shop the night we arrived, then visited the Portland Bayside location the next morning. We picked up a medium pumpkin pie, a bourbon pecan pie, and an individual blueberry pie for a relative. The blueberry pie was excellent--made with real Maine blueberries and a perfectly flaky crust. I usually go for their sweet pastries, but the cheddar scallion biscuit was a standout: melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The large peanut butter cookie was soft in the center and very tasty. Service at both locations was friendly and helpful. The West End shop has a small seating area, while Bayside offers more tables and (I think) a counter with stools. We got everything to go since we were visiting family up north. They do serve coffee, and note they're closed Monday and Tuesday. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Portland.

Upon entry, you'll see the current offerings in a display to the right, and a view into the kitchen through a window in the left. The friendly staff could not be nicer; zero attitude whatsoever even after winning a prestigious James Beard award. Zero seating, too, unfortunately, other than a few benches outside. -- Chocolate Croissant: A sturdy brown contraption with a crusty exterior and a bready interior. Mine was still warm, with a good crackly bite and hints of wood flavor from the oven. Underneath were strong accents of chocolate. Very good and very different. -- Almond Croissant: A swirl shape along the lines of pain au raisins, but with almonds and almond filling. That filling was nicely understated and natural, complementing while deferring to the still-warm dough. Another example of very good and very different. This place strikes me more as a bread bakery that also bakes pastries than a pastry shop that also bakes bread-- not that there's anything wrong with that. And it's a place that's willing to sacrifice breadth of offerings (at least at any one time) for quality of offerings, and there's nothing wrong with that either. Looking forward to many more visits to get that breadth-- and bread-- over time.

Their website lists about a half dozen, but the last time I was here there were just two: the sourdough chocolate chip cookie and the matcha and black sesame butter mochi. I'm guessing those are regularly available (they also do fun seasonal specials, so be sure to check their socials), but don't come with the expectation that there's going to be a big variety. The drinks include coffees, teas, and a variety of matcha. For me, this is NOT the best matcha in Portland. Matcha Mood is. The matcha here is good (maybe in the top three in the city), but the iced matcha with miso maple syrup and almond milk I recently had for $9+ was just okay. The drink is (literally) half the size as one at Macha Mood for the same price, and there wasn't any flavor of miso or maple. I've seen some internet buzz claiming THIS IS THE BEST... as a local, I don't agree. And that's okay; you might find your new favorite here, so it's absolutely worth visiting. They also do other fun spontaneous matcha flavors, so be sure to follow them on social! Check out their shop as well: loads of chili crisps and hot sauces, condiments and spices, jams, matcha powders and loose tea, pickles and other preserved foods, sweets, vinegars and oils, fermentation ware and kitchen goods, etc.
