Our view in a private spot for two - A scenic lake view seen through large windows at Scapes Cafe in Mount Vernon, Maine, with outdoor seating and umbrellas visible.

Driving up to the building I knew this was going to be the perfect place. The outfoor and indoor space was so comforing and inviting. The staff was very friendly and took note that it was our first time there. We sat in a little corner off to the side so we could have a great view of the lake. My husband had the smoked ham with chuttney and I had the Lox bagel. Even though it was hard to "bite into" my sandwhich to keep it from falling apart, it was SO good! Everything on it was a really good combo. On the way out we shared a mochi brownie-YUM!- and walked out to get a closer view of the lake. We can't wait to go back!

The ambiance is cute, it definitely nails the small-town cafe vibe. Which makes sense, as that's what it is. Instead of resting on their laurels and offering bland staples, the menu is interesting and unique, yet still comfortably familiar. My turkey club had a rosemary mayo which was amazing! Portions were big enough that two could share, but I was a big pig and gobbled up mine. My wife's Reuben was reportedly also delicious.

Great iced coffee and views.

Lovely lakeside café, an unexpected find. Warm service, excellent pastries and coffee, and nice vibes and aesthetics make this a winner for locals and those of us who are visiting Central Maine's beautiful lakes. The savory scones were my favorite, with the bacon, cheddar, and jalapeño the best!

Beautiful ambiance at the lakeside - A wooden dock with metal chairs extends into a still lake, surrounded by greenery and trees, with a partly cloudy sky reflected on the water.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious lunch on the lawn next to the water. My steak sandwich on an everything bagel was perfect and the slaw was unique and flavorful. Counter service is always friendly and prompt. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and secured a comfortable seat by the water. We'll definitely return to Scapes Cafe.

This hidden gem is worth the drive for breakfast, lunch, or stocking up bakery items. There was a short list of nice breakfasts as simple as bacon and eggs or yoghurt, to a wonderful BLT with egg sandwich and the best corned beef hash I have ever had (and I have had a lot). We took a sausage, ham and onion quiche home with us and it was so rich and the crust was wonderful. Their cookies and brownies and pastries looked terrific and there was a big variety. There was also a good selection of sandwiches for lunch. The seating was very clean in a cute atmosphere looking over the lake, and there was a porch and seating outside too. Coffee and water are serve yourself as are all the condiments. The staff were delightful! What a wonderful place.

Such a beautiful place! Loved the location and the food was great! They had daily specials, fresh baked goods as well as their menu. Lots of seating inside and I think there was some outside? (I visited in March) Very clean and well decorated. You can't go wrong with the breakfast sandwich but I purchased their bacon and onion scone and it was AMAZING!

Special ham and fig panini plus a butternut squash soup!

Such a gem delicious food that tastes so fresh! Love the innovative menu! Pictured is a fall special but everything we ordered was phenomenal. To name some favorites: the turkey club, Cuban, and the cheddar red pepper loaf yum! Delicious coffee with pick your own mug always a cute touch. And do not forget to take home goodies too! The chicken pot pie is amazing, so much chicken a great hearty meal. I can't wait to go back.

This is the best I have seen this Cafe look in all the years it's been in Mount Vernon.

The new owners done an amazing job decorating and the food selections are so good. You have all the fresh baked goodies as well as a full cafe menu including daily quiches, soups and what seems to be all freshly sourced ingredients. The coconut soup was very good, the special was a salmon BLT which my husband said was very good. A gem of a place.

this salad was everything!!!

Still one of our favorite spots. They just opened an expansion that offers more seating... even…read moremore greatness! They did an incredible job maintaining the historicalness of the area with the expansion and added seating that stays with their rustic, plant-loving vibe. As always, the food was delicious, exactly as expected. I always get French toast because it is THE best!

Oh what a place!! I love this little spot (emphasis on LITTLE). This is not a traditional diner -…read moreit's much more like an upgraded coffee shop. You walk in to this gorgeous space, step right up to the counter, and order all the goodies you could possibly want. The drink menu is vast - so many fun coffee beverages for the adventurous, and non-coffee options for everyone else. But if you want to keep it simple, their serve-yourself drip coffee is delightful, and there's plenty of flavors to keep it interesting (peppermint white mocha drip coffee, what??) Ok so you get your bevvie and you work very hard to find a cozy little nook to sit down - maybe someone is waiting for a to go order and gives up their seat for you? It's Gardiner, people are kind! You sit and wait and take in the surroundings - it's almost like you're in a greenhouse, with potted plants everywhere you look and dried flowers hanging from the ceiling. Then your little buzzer goes off and you go get your own food directly from the kitchen - no server/expo/restaurant experience required! Score your own hot sauce, silverware, and other condiments along the way. And dig in! The food is amazing! It's all stuff you've seen on a brunch menu before - French toast, eggs Benedicts, sandwiches - but it's got that extra flair. French toast with lemon curd and raspberries. Corned beef Reuben, but baked in Filo pastry instead of bread. A breakfast scramble with a spicy Korean twist. It's all fun and different and GOOD. You'll be too full, but stop at the counter on the way out the door and snag a fresh croissant or pastry for later. You'll thank me. I would love for this place to be full-service... But I think that might change the whole vibe. There's something cozy about the do-it-yourself aspect. And everything else about Bintliff's is delightful. We can't wait to return.
