First time in and was pleasantly impressed with the ambiance, presentation and service. Had to wait for our table on a Tuesday night but no big deal. Got 2 drinks "Old Fashioned" at the bar and took the ambiance in. Pretty busy for a weekday night. Got seated within 15-20 minutes by a window table. They served fresh bread & butter, got a Mesclun greens salad and for dinner we had the Bolognese, Grilled Short Rib, & crispy duck fat potatoes which were delicious and lots of flavor. Desert was Sticky Toffee Apple Pudding so yummy. Everything was fresh and served hot. Highly recommend if in the area to make this a stop but recommend making reservations unless you get a seat at the bar. read more

Tavern has a nice interior with a bar and tables seating options. It seemed like a nice, comfortable place to gather with enough space for lager groups as well. You can't order online, but you can join their waitlist, which is convenient if you're dining in and want to decrease the wait. The process for ordering pickup was easy enough and the food came out warm. I ordered the Tavern Noodle Bowl with steak. The noodles were very good! Full of flavor, nice consistency, and mixed with veggies. However, I wish I would've gone with another protein option as I found the steak to be too charred for this dish. The steak didn't pair well with the flavor from the noodles as it just made everything taste burnt. The pieces of steak that were less charred were tender and good, I wouldn't recommend that pairing. There are a ton of menu options that sounded good, so I would try something else next time, but I do hope to visit again if I'm ever in the area. read more

2nd time here. The first time was very good...tonight nope. My husband had a chicken sandwich with fries they were cold. I wanted a salad I saw online and was told they were on the " winter" menu ok...it's still FALL God forbid you have salad in the fall I had a salad just a bag of mixed greens. The chicken was dry. There was "entertainment" TOO LOUD He admitted he didn't know the lyrics to songs he was playing ??????? We had cake for desert. It tasted like it was made 6 months ago. The cost was exorbitant for what we received. My partner and I shared a plate of nachos and had chicken added. Tri colored tortilla chips straight from the bag and not a huge portion at all. $15 We didn't think that the menu was all that comprehensive so each of us ordered a salad. I got the crunchy chicken salad and had to beg for extra dressing. To top it off I had a soda. The bill after splitting nachos was $30 including tip. A salad, a few nachos and one soda. My partner paid even more because she had the special drink of the night. All in all. $70 for two salads and a small plate of nachos with one soda and one drink. We stopped in for the first time. Decor is nice, music is good. Very friendly staff! We had fried haddock, Reuben, French onion soup and drinks. Everything is delicious BUT the cole slaw. Not my kind of cole slaw. I also thought everything needed salt. BUT it was very good! The soup had a very sherry taste like it needed to cook a little more . What a tasty little find, tucked in at the end of a quiet little strip mall! You can absolutely tell this is a regulars bar + restaurant, which I love, even if I'm not a regular. The bartender knew everyone's names, the waitress was friendly and the place was very clean (and the booths are big + comfy!) We got the pretzel, steak tips and flatbread of the day which was Buffalo chicken. The pretzel is absolutely incredible, 10/10! I will admit that this place was a surprise. It looks like a bar in a strip mall, and I would never have expected the high quality food that they serve here. And it is not all pub food, there were high quality risottos and fish and steak with well prepared vegetables and potatoes. There were interesting appetizers and fine soups. We were traveling through the Winthrop area and looking for a lunch spot. It was a warm spring day and sitting outside sounded like a wonderful idea. We found Tavern on the hill 305 and decided to check it out. What a gem! It is at the end of a small strip mall and used to be another restaurant. They have done a fabulous job with this place. The outside seating area is off the parking lot but was still nice to enjoy the weather. We both ordered the Tavern Noodle Bowl. We were told that it was one of their best sellers although a bit spicy. Well, let me tell you that it was the best noodle bowl that I have ever had. It was made with soba noodles, vegetable stir fry, scallions in a ginger soy glaze and I ordered it with chicken. It was so delicious. It had just the right amount of heat from the ginger. The noodles were done perfectly and I received a good portion of well cooked chicken. That sauce was fantastic. It is the perfect amount of food as well. We also shared an order of poutine. I am not a huge poutine fan but I have to say I was impressed. The fries were amazing and so was the gravy. It had small pieces of cheese curds so the dish was really homogeneous. There was also a good amount of shaved steak that we added. The steak is not a steak-um. It is lean and well seasoned. It was so good. We were so impressed with this place. Luckily we live less than 30 minutes away so we can come here more often. The noodle bowl is something that I will crave and will keep us coming back. Me and a friend went at lunch time. They had a big menu with lots of options on special. Prime rib, scallops etc.. we both settled on soup, salad and half a sandwich. We both chose haddock chowder, salad and half of a Reuben. The salad was crisp and cold with homemade bleu cheese dressing to die for. The Reuben was available with Turkey (Rachel) or traditional. We both chose traditional. The corned beef was brisket vs. processed sandwich meat. It was perfectly seasoned with just enough dressing, cheese and sauerkraut that you needed your napkin. The haddock chowder was as good as any I have had on the coast. It was fresh and just enough potatoes ratio. The service was impeccable she was very attentive without being intrusive. She restaurant was packed for a Monday and there wasn't a no doubt why. Did I mention the meal was only 10? I ordered a pepperoni pizza to go for my son who raves about how good it was. Hubby and I brought a friend from out of town here tonight. My husband had the special (roast beef flat bread). I had a bite and it was excellent. The sauce gave the roast beef the best flavor. Our friend had the scallops risotto and enjoyed them. I've had them myself a few times and they are great. I had the Erin's Braised Beef. It was outstanding! We have lived in winthrop for years, a few failed rester aunts have been in this location prior so I was hesitant to try Tavern on the Hill. We went for dinner last night and were pleasantly Surprised. It was so so good! The wait was not very long especially for how busy they were. The waitress was great. Prices are fair. I had the chicken alfredo and it tasted great, fresh chicken in it that has great flavor. My husband had a burger and it was very juicy. My only complaint would be the kids menu was very small. My son did like the quesadilla though. They have batter up bakery cheesecakes which is the best! read more
