Nice neighborhood place. Good food, good service, and large well lit dinning area. I had a burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise with the house potato chips. Last night was my first time there. The appetizers were good. I ordered the "Fisherman's Wharf. I ate a third of it and within 30 minutes, I wasn't feeling well. When my order came, it had 2 huge lemon wedges in the fish, not on the side. My meal was saturated with lemon juice...nasty. It had a teaspoon of bread crumbs, too many shrimp, not enough scallops or haddock. When I make this dish at home, I put a generous amount of panko bread crumbs and parmesan cheese on the top before I bake it. The restaurant/ bar itself, is dark, dirty, and needs some updating. Though nothing is truly perfect, occasionally you can find it within context. Friendly vibes, New England IPAs, and a menu length that would rival the cheesecake factory. We were driving up to Acadia for annual our Fourth of July visit, when we realized we needed a bite to eat and to catch the second half of Mexico-Brazil World Cup match. This place fit the bill. I am not a sports person but loved hearing the cheers of the patrons. Lots of food to choose from. We had grilled prime rib (2) both were excellent. Pastrami sandwich loved it. Home made onion rings. Macaroni and cheese with kielbasa large portion and lots of cheese.all in all we liked everything, and had a great time. Our waitress was nice and attentive. This is a great friendly bar with typical bar fare, very good wings, etc... Several soups on menu, the special seafood stew was excellent. Regardless of the food which was all good, this is a fun place with amazing atmosphere at least tonight for birthday celebration for Mike. Could not have picked a better place. Why the Pointe Afta bar and restaurant has never been reviewed on Yelp is beyond me. It has been around for longer then I can remember and over the past few years I have come to love the atmosphere, the people and the food. This is not your clean cut, spotless classy neighborhood restaurant. In fact I'll be up front in saying the outside has seen better days and the restrooms could use some TLC. But when you walk through the door you are immediately taken back to a time when you could go to your favorite spot to watch the game on the TV with your friends over a cold beer (or twelve) and talk about the old times. There is New England sports memorabilia all over the walls, arcade games, a couple different rooms for functions and an outdoor patio. Another great thing about this place is Stan, the owner who always chats it up with customers and keeps watch over his business each and everyday (I never have seen him in the evenings for some reason). Once you get to know Stan you will always feel welcomed at his bar. So what about the food ? Its consistently good bar food essentials such as wings, nachos and mozzarella sticks along with a huge selection of burgers and sandwiches named after local New England and Maine athletes and coaches. My suggestion would be the Scott Wood. This is my go to hot baked sandwich, Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, Mozzarella, mushrooms and Mayo. The melted cheese, the gooey tangy mayonnaise, the sweet Teriyaki and smokey grilled chicken are a delicious combination. On the side you can't go wrong with spicy curly fries or onion rings (not homemade but always crispy). On this trip, Simone and I discovered a new favorite- Dirty Chips. A potato take on the classic Buffalo style wing. House made thick cut potato chips are served extra crunchy topped with melted Monterrey Jack cheese, bacon bits, Blue Cheese, Ranch Dressing and Hot Sauce.These are dirty because they will remind you of great sex- hot, messy, dare I say oragasmic and when its over you'll be wanting more. These are a meal by themselves ( which would be good to know before you order your meal). After finishing a delicious dirty plate of these addictive chips we ended up having to take most of entrees home. Simone ordered a sandwich special consisting of Grilled Chicken Breast, Bacon, Swiss and Honey Mustard on Foccacia. This sandwich was basic but well prepared and although Simone could only eat a quarter of it after all the chips it was enjoyed again for dinner along with the remainder of my Scott Wood sandwich. I would recommend The Pointe Afta to all of you. There is a reason it has been in business forever. Good Service, Good Atmosphere, Great Food and cold beer adds up to 4 stars and many return visits. read more

Can't really give a thorough review as yesterday was first visit, but will review from first time experience. Arrived just before being very busy and were quickly seated and attended to; courteously by a young lady who issued good service throughout the dinner. I had a draught and wife had a Cape Cod. Beer was cold and fresh and cocktail was enjoyable. Menu was very large with many selections available. I opted for the fried clams that were done in crumbs (waitress said they were batter). They were a bit overdone which made them a bit crunchy (loss of 2 stars). Likewise for the o rings. My wife had fried scallops and they were covered in a batter that wasn't overcooked and they were very good. Atmosphere is a sports bar with a lot of tv's and a wait staff that hustles. I'm anxious to get back and try some other selections (soups, salads and entrees). My suggestion is if you're ordering fried clams, be sure to ask the waitress to have the cook be sure not to overcook the clams. read more

I just love the Point Afta! Recently moved back to central Maine and am so excited to make it my regular spot. My Mom works in Waterville and for the past 2-3 years it has been our favorite meeting spot. My Wife and I just love driving to Winslow for the cold beer and great menu. It's the best sports bar in the area and full of fun Maine related sports memorabilia. They also have outside seating which is always a plus. I recommend the buffalo wings and the Cindy Blodgett. Oh, and the actually have pretty tasty pizza! read more

Went to visit the Point afta in Winslow on Wednesday there was a bunch of us. we go there at least once every 2 month and the food and service ok. But Wednesday we had the worse food I asked for lightly toasted crust first one came out bottom was scorch tried to break the crust in half and I had to do it with my hands not my teeth it was so hard and crispy but she took it back and brought me another one in a box I opened the box and I pulled up one of the pieces and it wasn't even come lightly toasted means lightly toasted not under cook. Another lady in the group I have a hair in for fried clams the woman asked if you wanted an another order and she was so disgusted she said no so the waitress comes over and starts arguing with me that the first one was fine and it wasn't crisp but the bottom was black I mean that's not lightly toasted like I had specified. Half price which I still have to come home and cook it it was raw so another eight minutes in the oven rotating at once I actually got something I could eat I left the restaurant more hungry than I went in the owner was called following day and he didn't really seem to care so I guess he loses 12 people going to his establishment at least twice a month I give the food and the service a big fat f. Oh yeah cuz we were over six people they added a gratuity to our bill each of us so I still have to pay gratuity on something I had to go home and cook myself I wasn't impressed. I am still waiting for my food,2 hrs later! 10 minutes and we are outta here! It took 2 hrs and 4 minutes to get our food. Ridiculous.

LOVE The Pointe! Would highly recommend it for sports lovers or big groups. You can snowmobile here in the winter, too. That's pretty sweet.

I love this place. They have good drinks and a good staff. The food is good but the menus is difficult to figure out. They have a lot of local music in the evenings. read more

Use to go to the Point Afta in the late 80's and early 90's when I worked as a union pipefitter at the nearby mills. Was a great place back then with good food. Great Friday night hangout to meet people. Very friendly atmosphere. Again, this was back in the late 80's and early 90's. read more

Not a fancy place but comfy cozy with tall ceilings but a pretty good menu & last time I made it in I had their fried mushrooms were to die for!! U will enjoy this place to watch your favorite sports orbits sit in ur own lil corner read more
