I could not eat my meal, the eggplant was next to raw and the red sauce tasted like a can of Hunts tomato paste was dumped on top. $60 for a tough New York Strip Steak? Sadie's had a great atmosphere and great food! This restaurant is above Great Pond marina with beautiful elevated lake views. Note that parking in the evening can get a little tight. Their selection includes local seafood, beautiful salads, creative cocktails, and awesome service. Note that for the area, prices may be a little higher, but the quality and phenomenal service makes it more than worth the try. We imagine the owners said "how much can we charge and get rich tourists to pay?" because the entrees are $59 - for haddock! The haddock had a few pieces of lobster, a shrimp and was on cold spinach and orzo - and came with a potato. Why serve pasta and potato? It was odd. Haddock was bland. The $25 mini-wellington was a total rip-off. Two pastries - each had one small bitesize piece of meat. Two bites of meat for $25!! We also got the triple berry salad and it was sad. Old lettuce, mushrooms were cut and dried out, obviously old, dressing was not edible. The poor quality did not meet the high prices. There is no view of the lake. There is a view of moored boats and a small cove. We went once - will not return. Would rather sit on the deck and eat the hearty, properly priced food at Sunrise Grill. read more

I give this rating a 3.5. Was really looking forward to this dinner for a long time. Big hype about coming here & getting reservations. Not the first time I've been out but $30 for a haddock dinner with orzo/spinach which was not even there. The size of the fish patty was not even what I expected. I'm not a big eater and for me to finish my meal and feel not fully filled is saying something. They served Fresh Popovers which we did enjoy. We also started with their blackened shrimp which were tasty but a small serving and their Salad with Beets & Fig was good but not great. Over all we did order some drinks which were ok but way overpriced for this area. Service was good but felt rushed for 7:30 reservations we were done/paid check by 8:36. For $150+ for a meal just over an hour and it was just ok. Will not return way overpriced! read more

Wow - I sooooo wanted to love this place. We have driven by so many times and tried to stop in, but you really need a reservation. So we finally made one and man were we disappointed. Our 300.00 dinner left us wishing we would have cooked and made cocktails at home. Would have been fantastic to have something close to home to rely on. If all I did was come here and have a glass of wine (actually a decent list) and my ribeye I would have been happy, but as my son says " they got distracted by the pageantry". We started with some of there cocktails: Maine blueberry Margarita and the Maine Blueberry Mule - both were so sweet we had to pawn them off on our mom who loves sweet stuff. But there was no bite to either of those drinks (that should have a sour and ginger spice) - just pure sweet. I would steer clear if you like real margaritas and mules. I quickly switched to wine - which they actually had a decent by the glass list. For food we tried a few appetizers: the grilled shrimp, cucumber & goat cheese bites, and stuffed mushrooms. None of these hit the mark for the price point and I wouldn't get them again. As for dinner there were some wins here and still some misses. The steaks (filet and ribeye) were both great! Cooked just right, beautiful sear marks and flavor was outstanding. I even liked the rustic smashed potatoes (though I added butter and salt) and the super fresh green beans. Overall those two dishes saved our night. But the eggplant parmesan and baked haddock were just OK and I honestly could have made better at home. The views were fantastic to watch the sky change at dusk so that was also a bonus. And the chocolate covered strawberries that come with the check were a nice touch. There service was very family oriented: tiny kids clearing plates, a very young guy taking care of us, not exactly the service to match the prices, but I get they're going for the family vibe. I just felt for the prices and the "upscale" menu theme/prices I expected more. I'd come back for the steak and wine alone, but I'd know that coming in and stick with it. I don't think I'd be very adventurous with my money here again. read more

We came here for my 40th birthday last night and it was amazing! My partner mentioned it was my birthday as they were clearing the table and a gorgeous and tasty mini cake showed up with a birthday song not even 5 min later!!!! We watched the Bear s2e7 after and I was reminded what incredible service we just had at Sadie's. We got the oyster special, with a tropical fruit mignonette. It was one of the most unique seafood dishes I've ever had- I am usually anti anything on an oyster but these enhanced the damariscotta oysters so much. We also got the blackened shrimp cocktail that were amazingly prepared- so tender and flavorful. I will probably base my future dining choices on those blackened shrimp! My entree was the baked stuffed haddock, which I thought would be much richer than it was. This dish was probably my least favorite but it was still better than other restaurants. Our favorite cocktail was the fig martini, a very unique drink. I loved all the specials and would recommend ordering from there. You must call well in advance for reservations. The ambiance is definitely family friendly, there are steep stairs to get to the 2nd floor Restaurant, they do have a chair lift. Parking was tough, you are competing with the marina too. As spring is around the corner, we are starting to think about this wonderful restaurant and can't wait until it is open again. They are seasonal so they open in spring and close for winter in the fall. The food is fantastic. Sharon selects the ingredients she finds to be freshest and best quality for the weekend - the only days they are open. The menu has a nice selection and the specials are always tasty. They serve warm popovers instead of bread which is a real treat. Scott is a master mixologist and whips up clever and tasty cocktails. It's also in a cool location on the lake. Fresh, cleanly plated dishes. Not too large platings rarely come home with leftovers and usually have dessert. Specialty drinks are good but not very strong. Stick to wine or beer or straight up liquor if looking for something stronger. They have a variety of different main dishes and a nice selection of desserts. So few dinner places in Belgrade since the duck restaurant has fallen from grace. Then there's Sadie's to the rescue. It took me a few years to finally check out this Italian-ish waterfront restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised with the serene small marina location. The inside equally impressed with wood lined space including bar and porch. The food was very good. We only were able to try the grilled vegetables and blackened haddock, both excellent. The greens with the fish were tasty but the rice lacked a bit of flavor. They have familiar dishes like eggplant parmesan, scampi, Maine scallops, steaks, and different specials every week. They give you nice popovers to start and chocolate covered strawberries after! Service was pleasant and prompt considering the crowd. Wine list is ok as well as local beer list. Unfortunately they are only open Fridays and Saturdays in season and reservations a must. They do occasional special events like wine, beer dinners and music. read more

We arrived on a rainy Saturday night. The service was wonderful and the food was as well. We tried the stuffed mushrooms and beef Wellington. Both were quite good. My mother and I had the baked haddock and it was incredible. Beautifully cooked and served on a bed of steamed spinach with pine nuts, parsley and sun dried tomatoes. Dad had the filet and was very pleased with it. Our server was so attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Sadie's Boathouse. read more

My husband and I came to Belgrade Lake for the first time and stumbled upon this treasure of a restaurant. We were very lucky to have come early and get a seat at the bar. The seat was reserved for another couple for 7:00pm, but we are able to have a lovely dinner before they got there! The bartender/owner, Scott, told us that he and his wife have very time consuming jobs during the week but open the restaurant for Fridays and Saturdays during the summer as cooking is his wife's passion. This explains why they are booked out for the summer! While we waited for our meals, Scott prepared fantastic drinks and brought us warm popovers that were amazing. Both hubby and I ordered blackened haddock with lemon infused whole grain rice and wilted spinach. We finished our meal with chocolate pecan pie made by the chef's Uncle Wally, who we also met that evening! All of the 'help' in the restaurant are family or extended family members so the atmosphere is the most welcoming you could imagine. I don't know if Belgrade Lake is code for 'The Magical Land of I'd, but everyone we met at the bar and behind the bar was so incredibly kind and friendly that my husband and I know this first visit to Sadie's and to Belgrade Lake will not be our last! read more

This is a great place to eat with wonderful food. It is family owned restaurant. The food is fresh and they use a lot of locally grown food. I love it here and hope to go back often. It is right on the lake so you can enjoy the view. You really need reservations and sadly it is only open weekends. Friday and Saturday and is closed in winter and spring as well as late fall. So glad Sadies is open again this summer! Primo waterfront location with views right up Great Pond. You will be dazzled as you reach the top of the stairs and walk in the the dinning room with its vaulted ceilings a wall of windows facing the water. If you can, try to rsvp one of the tables in the porch so you can take this wonderful view in upfront during your meal. The restaurant is family owned and family run, with the father, daughter and son all attentively waiting on your every need to make sure you have a wonderful evening. The food is amazing! I enjoyed a delicious chicken cordon blue, my father had an amazing seafood pasta dish with a cream sauce which were both very good. They also have the most delicious popovers for their bread and a nice wine list and full bar. For older family members, there is a lift available to ensure the second floor dinning room is accessible. read more

Only open Friday and Saturdays which is fine. A group of us were there a week ago and it was good. The people were very friendly, the wait staff very good and the food was good. Some had ribs, eggplant and I had pasta with chicken, shrimp and Italian bacon in a white sauce. This was an average dish. Only two shrimps and about six small pieces of chicken. Ribs were good and eggplant very good. We'll be back and hope it's even better. We need good restaurants here in Belgrade. I hope these folks make it! read more

Wow! What a gem of a restaurant tucked away in Belgrade! We recently attended a private party and were stunned by the gorgeous water views but even more impressed with the food, drink, service and attention of the staff. Favorites include stuffed mushrooms, pulled pork 'sliders', Stromboli and grilled shrimp. I overheard special requests being made - and happily accommodated. We will definitely go back! read more
