Get the slab of pizza!! Walk to the very back corner and discover homemade pepperoni or cheese pizza SLABS. They start selling at 11 am until sold out. Secret local delight. It has an amazing cheese shop too!

Dough is so fresh it melts in your mouth. Perfect spot for lunch on the go. They also have amazing cannolis!

Just like everyone else. I'm just a sheep. Everything is good. This place is amazing. One of us. One of us. Very friendly peeps. Lots of products. Feel fancy. They have guanciale. Channel your inner Gennaro Contaldo. Do Mainers even know what giardiniera is? Someone needs to open up an Italian beef stand.

I'd heard others rave about Micucci's pizza when I lived in Portland but crazily never made it until now. I grabbed a cheese slice on a rainy Saturday and wish I had grabbed 2 or 3. The pizza dough is so incredibly fluffy and I love the sauce that they use. The market itself is cute too and perfect for grabbing your grocery needs. Unfortunately it's not the season for Panettone but I'd be interested to see if they carry this around the holidays.

Great little store with all you need to make an authentic Italian dinner. The hidden gem is that you can get a "slab" of delicious pizza in the back!

Best kept secret in Portland. Micucci Grocery is an awesome little Italian grocery store with tons of specialty items and treats. This being said, take my word and head to the back counter alllll the way in the back of the shop for the best slab of pizza you'll ever have. Be warned - there's often a line around lunch time and you have to hit it just right, but if you're willing to wait you WILL be rewarded! The slabs are HUGE and are so incredibly cheesy. They're truly what dreams are made of. My husband and I were eating ours on a bench across the street and were stopped by many people begging to know where we got them from. Go be the envy of town - grab a slab, and flaunt it around Old Port. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to Portland!

The hype is real!! Today I happened to get to Micucci right around noon--and the line for the 12:15pm pizza drop was already forming. So I decided today was the day. While I waited I sampled some things from a new line of Sicilian products, Bona Furtuna (lovely biscotti, plus pasta, tapenades, sauce, and much more). Then the pizza came hot out of the oven, and I got my "slice" of pepperoni--mind you, a slice could easily feed 2 or 3! It's easy to see why this is such a favorite: tangy tomato sauce and cheese and pepperoni and a yummy, pillowy thick crust. (I'm normally a thin-crust pizza gal, but I'm happy to make an exception for this.) There's a reason people line up for this and why they sell out--so get there as soon as you can after 11am and get yours!

Wandered over while waiting on pir table at DuckFat. Fell upon the best Sicilian pizza for our evening cruise.

The first thing that hits you is the glorious aroma of aging Italian coldcuts, and it's something you'll look forward to almost as much as the Sicilian slabs of pizza that make anybody else's not even worth trying. Similar dough feel to focaccia, and much more flexible. Slightly pungent and very slightly sweet sauce, and lots of melty cheese, but never forget that the dough/crust is the star. And don't let the thickness fool you; it's as light as a cloud. The pepperoni itself is thin and at first assessment nothing special, but that's part of the master plan: it's there to add a bit of flavor, making the pizza better (and it does), without trying to hog the spotlight. You already forgot? Never forget that the dough/crust is the star of what is a most impressive ensemble. The pizza here is one of the few legends that not only lives up to the hype but also exceeds my already-high expectations on each visit.

They have one of the widest selections of restaurants, with a user friendly app and website. They'll deliver alcohol in addition to food. And, perhaps best of all, the fees and surcharges are clearly outlined before you order. Taken in whole, it's not cheap ordering delivery from local restaurants. But if you would normally order drinks and food out, this is definitely a more economical and convenient alternative. I've ordered from Carhop over a dozen times with no issues. Last night I had my first issue. When my order showed on the app as delivered, but wasn't, I contacted Carhop on their handy live chat feature and was asked to check all entrances. My front door is brightly lit and obvious (it even has a floodlight). There is also an unlit, snow and ice covered side staircase that no delivery service has ever braved. It's likely every homeowners insurance company's worst nightmare. But there was the order, on a zero degree night, frozen solid to the ice. When I jammed the side door open and grabbed the bag, it exploded, leaving a war zone of ramen. I was able to salvage half the order, while the rest has made me the honorary king of the local raccoon population. A quick note to Carhop explaining the situation (with a picture) and I was instantly fully refunded. I feel like they went above and beyond in service and would highly recommend!

It's the kind of place where I can walk in and say, "Hey, I'm making haddock chowder tonight, my budget is $30," and immediately get a handful of thoughtful recommendations plus a mini wine lesson, which I always appreciate. Wine can get pretentious and intimidating so fast, and I never feel that way at Maine & Loire. I also really love their sales and loyalty program. Getting those emails with 10% off codes (which they send out pretty often!) always makes my day. Lastly, I think you can choose to drink bottles on site, but in the past their policy seemed to change a few times, so I've stopped trying and just treat them as my go-to wine shop.

Regardless of your knowledge of wine, this is *the* spot to grab a bottle. They also offer wine tasting sample events!

For example if there is a stout you remember as being amazing and you know the name, they will most like know when or if it will be released again. The beers have a great amount of labeling with helpful details, especially if you aren't familiar with a particular brewer or style of beer.
