I love their Pizza. I heard awhile back that they make fresh cannolis . I brought two home 2 weeks ago & truth be told they were sensational. A trip to Trader Joe's now ends with a visit to Pizzaioli for a slice & now I order 2 cannolis for my wife & I to take home. Mike's Pastry in Boston's North End has met their match. Apparently Pizzaiolo just recently opened up their new dining room and bar and I am very pleased about it! We stopped in for a quick slice and a drink. The bartender who helped us was great and it was apparently his first day! We got our slices quickly and they were awesome. I tried the white pepperoni which was the right amount of greasy. We also tried the garlic knots which were delish! Also very buttery and toasted to perfection. We are in town on the way to Bar Harbor up north. We ventured into this establishment on our last night. The pizza was good I guess, the slices are huge and I had two. My wife only had one. The restaurant was clean and orderly. The staff was very efficient and operated a well oiled machine. Overall it was better then last place we dined at in Portland, Ma. Fast service for a busy Sat. night. Ordered the buffalo chicken pizza w/bacon & requested ranch on the side - which they accommodated. Thin, crispy crust. My husband and I are visiting from Los Angeles and were excited to try this spot after reading all the great reviews--and it absolutely did not disappoint! This is authentic New York style pizza, and you just can't find anything like it where we live. I ordered the White Stone Pizza and my husband had the Pepperoni--both nights! That's how good it was. The flavors were incredible, the crust was perfect, and everything was so fresh and satisfying. We were so impressed by the quality of the food and the welcoming service that we came back the very next day for our anniversary dinner! Monday, February 23rd was the day of the blizzard. The blizzard kept me in Portland for another night. I walked around town a couple of times during the day and it was a ghost town. Even Starbucks was closed! I was getting a little concerned about dinner and I finally found Pizzaiolo. I called to confirm they were open and then started my trek on foot from the Hyatt. I got there and the gentleman said I could sit at the bar and asked if I'd like some slices brought over. So I ordered one slice of broccoli and one slice of mushroom. I walked next door to the bar and was greeted by the manager/bartender. She was busy, but still friendly and efficient. The slices came and I ordered a salad to go with them. It was HUGE, fresh and delicious. The slices were great too. Thin, but not too thin and not greasy. Very tasty. It was a great dinner and reprieve from the storm. I told her I appreciated them being open and I did!!! Oh, and they had a rerun of the Patriots/Bills game on the TV so I had something to entertain myself. Great, down to earth place. read more

I had never been to this establishment and to the delight of my friends who recommended it, we popped in to get us some slices on a cold winters day. The interesting thing is when you first walk in, you are taking a time warp to New York city with people hanging out and it literally is like a scene from a movie. There really is not much seating (maybe 5-6 tables) but you really don't need it as you are in and out eating some slices (I had two) and probably don't need to relax and partake. The two slices that I got was pepperoni and ricotta and a slice with hanburg and mushroom. They bother were delicious and were pretty close in comparison to a New York style slice. Pizza was really great, service on the other hand....rough. The kid behind the counter was either high as a kite or on his first day. He meant well but was so overwhelmed. This has been by favorite and go-to pizza spot for a few years now. Their pizza is insane, as is their garlic knots. And the service is always so friendly and prompt! Last night I had a few friends over and ordered two pizzas and two orders of garlic knots as delivery. SO. DELISH. paid over the phone via card and all was great. The pizza was delivered in probably half an hour-these guys are amazing- and I had my boyfriend go downstairs to grab it so I could continue entertaining upstairs. Ate the pizza, screamed about how delicious it was, etc. I went to bed and kept getting phone calls from one number. I was concerned that it was something related to my payment not going through or maybe there was some family emergency. It was this restaurant. On the third call at 10PM I answered. It was a guy from Pizzaiolo YELLING AT ME because my boyfriend hadn't tipped at the door. I apologized and said oh crap, sorry, miscommunication, please add a tip to it. My mistake, I'm sorry, it was an accident. Add some money. I tried to explain what happened and HE YELLED AT ME AND HUNG UP ON ME. Girl, that ain't how you run a business. I recognize we messed up on our end, definitely! I always tip at least 20%. But I tried to rectify it and he YELLED at me. We took our pizza and desserts to go. The sauce was delicious and we truly enjoyed our Bronx pie. We chose a cannoli and a Piña Colada Cheesecake. The cheesecake was the ultimate dessert! It was a blend of sweet and savory ingredients-coconut, pineapple and of course cream cheese. The cannoli tasted grainy but once it settled it tasted good. Attentive employees, respectful, etc. Love watching them flip the dough a skill I will never accomplish. However one evening I observed the owner, not speaking in a respectful manner to an employee. And the owner can sometimes be heard yelling from walk-in or backroom.It is small little place, maybe 6 sit down tables. Parking limited but reasonable worth trying. We are staying overnight in Portland, Maine, while on a trip to visit all of the New England states so my wife can check them off her list (and our cats get to visit several new states for the first time as well). With this restaurant, we got New York style pizza, delivered to our hotel in about an hour (after reading some of the most recent reviews, which I hadn't read first before ordering or I might have reconsidered, I was worried we might not get our order, would have to wait extra long for the delivery, or that it might be wrong when we did get it). Thankfully once I had the pie in my hands, I found that I had nothing to worry about. The pizza had good crust, good sauce, good pepperoni, and good taste overall. This is pretty much what I expect when I think of New York pizza, though the outer crust was a little hard (it cut up the sides of my mouth pretty good!) while the rest of the pizza was a very slightly soggy from the pepperoni grease. It was still pretty warm when delivered, and the delivery guy was friendly. Was it worth around $30 after delivery charge, tax, and tip, for just one large pepperoni pizza with no extra sides (and not even plates or napkins included)? Probably not, in the long run, but I would not rule out ordering from this place again. It was pretty good overall. All of us that partook in the devouring of the pizza really enjoyed it. I would say 4.5 stars overall, as it wasn't the absolute best pizza I've ever eaten, but it was definitely better than I was anticipating. read more

I have been a loyal customer for close to three years, since moving to the area. Imagine my horror to step up to the register and be told that my 16 inch white stone pizza had gone up to 38 bucks with tax. The 10 dollar price increase is just not worth going back for the pizza.
