This review is based solely on late night pizza. After a concert at Aura my wife and I drove to exchange street to get some Off Track Pizza. I had yet to try it while my wife had it at work at least once. We beat the after bars close rush I would expect for a Saturday. What a great spot to come to after a night out at the bars though to make sure you have some food before sleeping. We each got one pepperoni slice and the slices are large. Didn't take long for the staff to throw them in the oven to be warmed up, under three minutes. Like I said the slices are large and after that quick few minutes in the oven it came out perfectly crisp. Tasty and well made pizza with what I would assume is high quality ingredients. This will be an option for any nights we find ourselves in Portland wanting a late night bite for a reasonable price for value. Quick and friendly service. I look forward to returning to try more pizza and want to try their chicken parm sandwich as well! read more

So glad to have a pizza slice place right in the old port with a nice variety of flavors and $3 Rolling Rock. One large slice ranges from $4.50 to $6.50 and was more than enough for dinner. Looking for a quick bite to eat before a show at the Cross arena and we came upon Off Track. Not a soul in the shop on Saturday night at 5p made us a little hesitant, but the reviews had me optimistic. Brick wall decor with window seating and stairs going up. Not sure if there is more seating because we didn't need more then two stools at the window. The selection of ready-made pizzas was OK, I went with cheese as the other toppings were not appetizing to me. Hubby got the salami and garlic. I really like the crust first and foremost. A good crust is a deal breaker. Then towards the end it of my slice, I had to start taking sauce off as it became over whelming for me. There must be lots of paste in their sauce. It was so strong, I couldn't tolerate it or another slice even though I was still hungry. Service was great. Not sure if we will back. read more

Went here after a few drinks around Portland. We really appreciate how you're able to purchase slices basically all night. There's never any long waits and prices are honestly not terrible especially for Portland. Got the cheese, pepperoni, and the truffle mushroom. They're crispy and have good flavor but definitely a little greasy. The mushroom truffle was by far my favorite. The flavors worked so well and I felt like it was just overall better cooked, less greasy, and had more character to it. Overall, although this isn't my favorite style of pizza, it's pretty good and would have it again. It's great how late they stay open and it's a pretty solid slice. Glad to see a good pizza slice joint grace downtown again. It's the reliable, greasy yet flavorful pizza slice you need to wrap up an eventful night out or a quick bite. There's a slew of different toppings and specialties available. Cheese and pepperoni slice are right up there with the old faithful $1 slices from NYC (RIP). No lines when I went but I imagine they serve things up fairly quickly, and that seats are constantly turning over. It's difficult to review a business when nearly all of the competition has closed, but Off Track is far better than Slice Bar and Bill's ever were. And it exceeds the slices at Otto as well. The owner has a mini empire of businesses on Exchange Street, and Off Track maintains the streak of all being good. Upon entering, you choose a slice (either $5.50 or $6.50) from six different options. After five minutes of reheating in the oven, it's served piping hot. And these slices are huge. One could easily be enough for dinner. The Sausage and Pepper consisted of sausage, ricotta, cherry bomb peppers and garlic cream sauce. It had some serious kick and rivaled the best pizza spots downtown. There are also sandwiches and salads during the day, but I'll always order pizza. There are 6 house-made bottled cocktails ($7) available as well. The Secretariat (scotch, ginger, lemon) was light and refreshing. Upstairs has prime people watching of Exchange Street, a pinball machine, a second bar, and tv's for sports. This isn't a surprise as it is one of Maranda's newest spots (sister restaurants with Blyth and Burrows, Via Vecchia, Papi, and the late Henry). Location is mint along with its hours since they serve an hour after the bars close. As for the pizza, I find it best when hot. The pepperoni is dialed, cheesy, greasy and crisp. Sausage a pepper pizza was spicy and flavorful. I felt it was a little dry but was still enjoyable. Same goes for the buffalo chicken slice. Great addition to the portland food scene. To find a pizza joint that sells slices is harder and harder to find in the old port. I have not been out to the old port on a Friday/Saturday night in a long time, but I'm sure the drunk masses needed something quick to eat. Off tracks pizza are very good, the vodka sauce one is especially great, I could have ordered an entire pie, and I think it right out of the oven would have been that much better. The cheese and pepperoni seemed sold. The spicy sausage had lots of kick but just seemed meh to me. Total with a drink and bag of pretzels ran me close to 32 dollars. Somewhat steep for pizza, but that vodka sauce pizza, wow was it good! Like seriously grab a slice in the future. Sandwiches sounded epic. And maybe another will give it a try. The dining room is on the second floor and is a pretty large size, so grab a slice warmed up and head upstairs for some people watching on exchange. This place just opened on Exchange St in Portland ME so we decided to try it out. Love that you can get a slice! There are 6 different kinds of pizza slices to choose from and the slices are huge. We chose pepperoni, vodka burrata, and sausage and pepper. The slices were heated in the oven for just a few minutes. The undercarriage was crispy and the crust tasty...closer to a NY style pizza as opposed to a New Haven style pizza. The sauce ratio on the pepperoni was perfect. The vodka burata sauce had a hint of sweetness and paired well with the creamy burrata. The sausage and pepper with ricotta and garlic sauce-no red sauce-was so tasty and the crumbled sausage had a nice taste and texture. The cherry bomb peppers gave it a kick! We ate outside (think there were 2 small sidewalk tables) and there is counter seating inside on the first floor and more dining space upstairs. A plain cheese slice is $4.50 while one of the specialty slices is $6.50. They also offer sandwiches, salads, and a few cocktails. The fountain soda machine was out of order but they do have canned and bottled drinks available. Service was super friendly, service was quick, and the place was clean. Off Track is a GREAT addition to Exchange Street. I've been saying for years that Portland needs more fast, casual eateries where diners can enjoy high quality food at a sit-down restaurant, sans servers (a la Crunchy Poke). Although I only enjoyed one slice of pizza, it was a perfect blend of flavors, warmed up just right, and melted in my mouth. The service is friendly, and they did a great job at making sure that interior has a Danny Zuko vibe (old school pizza joint with fountain drinks and a 50s diner vibe). I was denied access because I have a service dog. My service dog wears a vest that is clearly marked - the worker stopped me when I was entered by loudly yelling that I cannot bring my pet in and that I have to leave. I corrected her that this is not a pet but a service dog. I was again loudly yelled at that I need to leave and the owners do not allow pets and there are no exceptions. This is both illegal and discriminatory. I filed complaints with both the Maine branch of the ADA and the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Department. This is (by far) the best thing I have eaten in Portland. The pizza is phenomenal, consistently crunchy, quality ingredients. The closest thing to a NY pie we have. But the star of the show is the Mortadella Sandwich. Not to be dramatic, but I cannot eat this without reassessing my entire life. The ratios: perfection. The flavors: complex. We were ecstatic to finally have a slice shop open nearby. The first time we went, the pizza was decent enough (there are lots of better options for pizza in the area, quite frankly) but the sandwich was fantastic. However, we recently ordered a delivery order, and there were a few tiny little curly metal pieces in at least two of the slices. I reached out to the shop through the email listed on their website right away and saved one (we tossed the rest of the pizza, obviously) to show them. They appeared to most likely be from some sort of cleaning/scrubbing tool (very short and very thin). The store never got back in touch with us, which left as bad an impression on me as the fact they had slivers of metal in their meh pizza. I definitely would not recommend risking it here. read more

I grew up in New Haven CT. Living here in Maine the constant search is on for pizza similar to New Haven (style). There have been many who say they are but the try is more often a miss I stopped in to offer track last week as they have a good showing on instagram. Parking was a bit of a challenge but doable. The location on lower exchange street is right in the hub of things. The setup inside is nice. First floor counter service with many pies on display. I ordered two slices wanting to try the variety. $7.00 a slice I suspect the location is driving the higher cost. The first slice meatball and onion was nicely reheated. The crust was phenomenal. The meatballs however were disappointing in that they appeared to have been pulled from a bag ... those moist squishy ones that are usually found in a crockpot swap dinner. The sauce on this pizza was in my opinion over spiced and too sweet. Oregano was overpowering. A simple tomato sauce touched by a bit of salt when married to that perfect crust, how nice that would have been. Less is sometimes more. On the second slice sausage and hot peppers here again the crust was outstanding. This slice did not have any sauce. The sausage was negligible but the combination of cheese and peppers was tasty. The one disappointing thing on this slice was that many of the pepper slices still had stems on them. I had to keep removing and setting aside the undesirable sections of the peppers All in all an ok place where the pizza good for our area. read more
