The kings head is a great spot on the wharf in Portland great beer selection great food tried brunch for the first time was going to go with the biscuits and gravy but the server recommended the chicken and waffles and boy was she right the waffles were amazing the star of the show chicken was good the eggs were perfectly poached but those waffles I can still dream about them !

Steak and cheese w/out bread + salad

We visited on a Saturday and the restaurant was fairly empty. We were surprised because it was quite busy in Portland. The restaurant itself has really high ceilings making it feel open and even emptier than it was. The food was extraordinary. I had the steak and cheese. I believe they used the same meat that's used in the short rib tacos. The steak practically melts in your mouth. The salad was fresh and the pickles were delicious! My husband loved the tacos.

Deliciousness overload!! Do get the steak tacos, the meat was so juicy and tender. Too bad they ran out of most of the beer I was ordering but I'll come back another night for that. Server was great and attentive. Kind of like the brick wall, next to the water place. TIP- it's in a alley by the parking lot , we almost missed it twice while walking there.

Clam Chowder

Stopped in for a beer and a snack. Staff is super friendly, clam chowder was delicious and local beers on tap. Would recommend and would return!

Fun little pub with really great food. They have a large bar and then another room with lots of seating. We got a table for 10 people and we had plenty of room. The service was really great. They don't split the bill if it's over 6 people so just make sure you know that. They have so many beers on tap and ciders as well. The drinks are good too. I got the burger and it was really great. Everyone liked their food! A fun spot!

I came here with my boyfriend on a road trip to Maine. We love this place. Everything we ordered was good. He liked the lamb burger and the mussels are definitely one of the best I've ever had. The haddock chowder is also one of the best in Maine. It's not common for us to find a Scotch egg anywhere near us, so it was nice to finally get to order and taste one. And it was delicious. The atmosphere is really cool with the old building brickwork, rustic bar, etc. It's also right by the water, which is neat. The beer list is pretty long with a good selection of different types of beer. The service was good. We had a great time.

The bouncer working on a Friday night on 1/16/2026 at around 10 pm was a prick. I tried to walk…read moreinto the door and he said where are you going? I asked him why and he didn't answer me. I then told him I am just going to relax and have a drink in the bar. He grabbed my jacket as I attempted to walk through the door and said you never showed me your ID. I told him you never asked before I tried to walk in. I then apologized to him, and I tried to show him my ID. He told me he didn't want to look at it and told me to leave instead. I thought he was just a drunk customer joking around with me before he asked me for my ID, because he didn't identify himself before he grabbed me. I left right away because I didn't want any trouble. I went to Tomaso's Canteen right after and they treated me with dignity and respect. I had a great night at Tomaso's Canteen and the staff was really friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend people avoid Commercial Street Pub, considering there are better bars in the area nearby which will treat you with more respect than Commercial Street Pub.

Commercial St. Pub has an interesting vibe, kind of like stepping into someone's living room,…read morecomplete with comfy couches, end tables, and some real comfy bar stools. The bartenders are awesome, and the drinks are reasonably priced. We didn't grab any food, so I can't speak to that, but if you're cruising down the street and need a quick drink, this place is a solid stop. Definitely has a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere that's worth checking out.
