Despite visiting here a few times, I somehow have not posted a review after these visits. It's been…read morequite the mainstay bar/pub in the Old Port for quite a long while now since 1980. It has old school vibes when you step inside with plenty of exposed brick walls and art/decor on many of the walls too. As well as quite a few TVs like you'd expect most bars/pubs to have. It certainly has a vibe overall where I can understand those who live nearby would make it their go-to choice for a beer or a bite to eat by themselves or with friends or to catch a game on the TVs. The visits me and my wife have had including bringing out of state family to visit have been good service wise with minimal complaints but at times waits for food have been longer than expected even when restaurant was not busy. Could use some improvement but minimal. Food wise I have had a burger from them, their mac n cheese, as well as some other sandwiches. I would kind of classify the food in a similar way as the service. It is good but doesn't leave me wowed or thinking I need to return for the meal. It's solid for bar/pub food. If you set your expectations in that manner, I think you will leave quite pleased. A great spot to pop in from commercial street after a day of walking around for a cold drink and a bite to eat.

So, our server was great - very nice, very polite and attentive. NO complaints about our server…read more Atmosphere? It's good. It's a bar/pub atmosphere and we like that. Nothing frilly, more relaxed and comfortable than anything else. Per one of the staff there, "some regulars" are allowed to bring in their dogs, it seems. Two dogs were in there when we were. Now, I LOVE dogs but I'll tell you, if I walked in there with my mom and a dog was at the table next to us? She'd lose her sh*t. From what I saw online, dogs are welcome outside ... but there were TWO dogs inside. Now again, I love dogs. LOVE them. They were well behaved, too. Very. But... be advised (one was a small dog, one was a very large dog - cuties - but .... dogs). They were out of an app that we really wanted (my husband/kids had it previously & raved about it) but... oddly... about 45 min later.. we saw the an oddly similar app make its way to a larger party - in abundance - to the back of the restaurant. Bummer. Seems they didn't have enough to go around. My sandwich was not made properly but our waitress made it right - right away. Greawt service. Their fries have a nice "peppery" kick to them and I LOVED them. Tasty. Bottled ketchup on the table. I know this may seem stupid, but man... I love me some ketchup and I hate when they bring you a miniature serving of it on your plate now (cost, I get it). So having a bottle at my disposal makes this Heinz girl happy. The real weird feeling... when we were seated, we were offered a choice of a few tables. We chose one, sat down, ordered... and then were told a larger "reservation" was coming in and we'd have to vacate "in about an hour... but that shouldn't be any issue for you guys." Frig. My husband immediately was like... "well, guess we're not hanging out here." So we didn't. They were bringing large pitchers of water to the tables around us, just prepping for the larger party. We felt really rushed at that point (by other staff, not our waitress). It was an odd feeling and not one we really cared for. I've been going to Portland and the area multiple times a year for 40 years. This was my first trip to $3 Deweys - ever - despite walking by it countless times. I'm not sure if I'll go back in or not, sadly. Not sure if the pros outweighed the cons here... when there are so many places to choose from.
