Crock of onion soup is made with Beal broth and was super delicious. My wife had the Waldorf salad and she loved it - she said the dressing needed something, probably salt. I had the fried chicken dinner with garlic mashed and roasted carrots. They fry a whole breast from a small chicken, delish!, black pepper gravy on the side and the mashed potatoes were scrumptious. We stop here a few times a year and it never disappoints Garyd

But every restaurant in Boothbay had over an hour wait, and I can confidently say I am SO glad we couldn't get a reservation anywhere else because it led us here. We got a reservation right away, were seated early, and everything from start to finish was incredible. The food tasted so fresh and flavorful, the drinks were amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect . Cozy but still lively with live music. Truly one of those places where nothing misses. I'm from out of state and already planning to come back next year just to eat here again. I honestly can't say enough good things about Montsweag. So worth the drive and then some!

We decided to share a golden beet salad though the beets were regular purple beets rather than golden. For entrees, both my wife and I chose halibut over truffled risotto that was perfectly cooked and very good.

Everything was aesthetically pleasing but I did find the muscles overly sauced with a little too much salt for my palette. The lobster flatbread was fine but nothing spectacular since the flatbread was not made there. Lobster meat and corn were sporadically covering the bread. Very good for a shared appetizer. Raviolis were great but since they were stuffed with peas and to have them with pea sauce is a little bit too much but again it was tasty. The scallop dish was on the pricey side for just three large scallops with pea sauce. Apparently they use their homegrown peas in the garden which is organically good. Crab cakes were delicious. There's a little band playing in the pub on Sunday nights. Good place to go to eat after checking in the hotel.

Parking on the street nearby was easy enough and thankfully had no wait for a table. The space is small yet inviting with lots of decorative owls all around as well. The staff were all friendly and our server was very attentive and described the specials expertly. They offered beers, wines, signature cocktails, as well as a few mocktails. Also appeared to have a full bar so should you have a preferred drink I am sure they'll make it. I enjoyed their Ramona Park cocktail that had a touch of spice, while my wife got their Follow You Down mocktail. Drink prices appeared to be quite standard. Food wise my wife got their Not Your Average BLT and I got their Good Ol' Chicken Basket. The BLT was phenomenal with little tweaks/additions to it that make it a new favorite BLT! The chicken was very tasty, yet extremely thin so a few bites had no meat and just breading. Both came with fries and those were tasty and seasoned well! They could have been a touch more crispy though. Overall we both enjoyed our meals a lot and would love to return! Both food and drinks were brought to us in a quick time! I also thought in general prices were reasonable. This is a spot worth checking out for sure! Friendly staff with well made drinks and food.
