Stopped in for a couple beers, which were both tasty. I preferred the "Prime" IPA and my wife liked "Maximus" I am just gonna call it like it is, there was a particularly "brash" borderline rude female worker. The couple in front of us were given menus by another bartender, while ours immediately said "you're planning to sit outside right?" Because we had our dog with us. No hello or welcome or anything. We knew it was dog friendly outside only, but we needed to come inside to get our beers before we could go outside and always respect places that don't allow dogs. It was just unnecessary in my opinion, and not the norm at a brewery, maybe she was just having a bad day but a poor reflection on the business imo.

Being familiar with their beer from their Portland location, I was excited to try their new(ish) Freeport brewpub. The space is beautiful! Clean, bright and open with plenty of outdoor seating as well. If you want full service you need to sit at the bar. Other than that, you can seat yourself at a table, order via QR code and a runner will bring your food/beverages or you can order beer from the counter/bar and take it to wherever you want to sit. Since I planned on eating and had my 13yo w me I sat at a 2 top and used the QR code method which I felt was fairly simple but not for the technologically challenged. At the time of writing, they use toast as their POS and you cannot leave a tab open. Weird considering nighthawk kitchen inside mast landing right down the street uses toast and you can leave the tab open. My guess is that it's to prevent people from forgetting to close their tab. Most places just tack on a 15% surcharge if you forget to close but maybe that's not an option w toast? Like other reviews mention, there is a mandatory 3% fair wage fee added to every bill. I actually respect this as I know many well-off people that feel tipping isn't ever necessary; especially in places like this that make you order electronically and bus your own table. Toast then adds an additional 18% tip on top of that but it is customizable. The runners were fast, friendly and efficient so I tipped them accordingly well. The food was decent. Our smash burgers were cooked correctly. $14 plus $1.50 for a bag of chips. It had a ton of their proprietary sauce, so I'd probably get that on the side next time. The strawberry shortcake made with corn cake was brilliant as the corn cake held up well against the liquidity of the mashed strawberries and didn't become a soggy mess like can happen with angel food.

First time checking this place out. The inside has a long bar and lots of seating. They have some outside seats too. Unless you sit at the bar you go up and order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Overall the space is nice and the service was friendly. The food was just okay- I got a burger for 16 without fries or chips, you can add chips for $1.50 and the patty was so thin. They are smash burgers but there wasn't enough meat to stratify my burger tasting. The menu is also pretty small. I didn't try any beer cause I am not a huge IPA fan but my friend just said it was alright. Seems like a cool spot to hang out and get a drink, but food is mediocre.

First the good: their beer is delicious. Grab the gose! Wow! Delicious! Finally, a sour beer that's actually sour. Also, the patio is seriously dog-friendly and spacious. We met the sweetest dogs who were having a great time- they've clearly been here before. Now the bad: you order online from your table. Fine. In theory that's great but they still expect 18%+ tip for simply bringing out your order (without even any water)? That's ridiculous. The burger was just okay, not flavorful or filling. I think it was also expensive for being a plain burger with a bag of chips. We tipped as requested but we won't be back.

I really liked this place! We stopped by here while driving on Route 1, as we had heard the food was good. There's a beautiful, open space when you walk in with lots of windows and great light. The bathrooms are all one-stall, gender-neutral. We love! When you sit you scan a QR code on the table. You can. Then order food and drink via their app, and pay for it. They bring it over to you when it's ready. This was the only awkward thing- there's not really service here, just food runners, and it can be sort of awkward. Be sure to be prepared and also have your Smartphone ready! You also can go right up to the bar and order their beer. It's super clean and welcoming. We saw several folks come in solo and sit by themselves enjoying books and a beer. That's my favorite kind of vibe ever. The food came out quick- my fried paneer sandwich was stellar. I LOVE cilantro and jalaepnos, so it was perfect for me. My bf got the smash burger, which was really pretty small- but enjoyed it. There's an outdoor seating area here that looks great for warm weather, ample parking, and cans available to purchase. I didn't drink as I was driving, haha, but I DO love their Prime and snag it any time it's on draft in Portland. Overall, very chill, clean, open, relaxing. The lack of service is sort of weird, but it works and probably makes more sense in the summer when it's crazy busy. Come for the food!!!!! Stay for the beer. And enjoy the lovely ambience of an unexpected gem in Freeport!

Great location, great service, decent menu and plenty of seating! I love the location - it's easy to get to off of route 1 and it's not crazy with nearby businesses. Plenty of parking in their parking lot as well. We came here specifically for the chicken sandwich that was recommended to us by several people. We were able to find a table for 2 quickly - it's self seating, which I like epescially when a place is as busy and as popular as Goodfire. I loved the fact that you could just order food and drink via QR code versus trying to flag someone down. We ordered a beer and a non-alcoholic drink along with an appetizer and our sandwiches. The smashed poutine appetizer was delicious!! Definitely would get that if we come back. Disco fire - was a beer that was recommended to me. It was ok. Nothing complex and easy to drink. The fried chicken sandwich....it looked amazing when it was first brought to our table. Unfortunately the bun and the chicken was overcooked in our opinion. The chicken coating tasted great - good flavor, however it was really hard and in some case dark brown, almost black. Which led to the chicken bring dry and chewy, not moist at all (sorry for the use of the word moist) I love a toasted bun, however, ours actually had char on them to the point, it tasted bitter and we could see black char on our lips and teeth. My mom would have loved it, however, we did not. We ended up eating around the char and the hard bits of chicken edges. That made me sad, as I am one that definitely likes to leave a clean plate. Because of mostly positive experience, I will give this 4 starts. Not sure we will be back, unless we have out of town guests that want to try it. As always with Goodfire - such a great group of employees that care and work hard and Goodfire fans are always great to be around. Goodfire culture is strong!

    Chicken sandwich

Good food and good atmosphere. My Husband enjoyed the beer he got. We also split wings and I got the chicken sandwich while my husband got the fish sandwich as his entree. We went on the weekend in July and it wasn't too busy. May be a bit pricy but worth it. Would recommend!

The is a great tasting room! I was meeting up with friends and it was suggested. I personally do not drink beer so it would probably not have been a first choice for me but I am game to go anywhere with a group of friends just to meet up and spend time. I looked at the menu in advance and saw that they did have non alcoholic and cocktails on their menu, along with some really delicious sounding snacks and food items. It is a unique concept. Drinks are ordered at the bar. At your table their is a QR code with their menu to order right from the table. Staff brought it out to your table and they were barely noticed, they snuck in dropped it off and snuck back and removed the dirty dishes!! It is a very cool vibe. I will go back

Absolutely love having this addition to the Freeport/Yarmouth community. There's not a lot of places where you can get explosive flavors and a great selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Not to mention the modern rustic vibe inside was perfectly executed. Thank you Goodfire!

    Frank B.

Small selection of beers, mostly IPA and DIPA. Do NOT get the smalls, they are tiny. The large is only 8-10 oz. I had the English Mild and it was a nice brown ale. There is a very small selection of snacks. The wings were good, but nothing special. The place is very clean, including the bathrooms. The staff is pleasant and helpful.

From musty dive hotel bar, and not one of the fun ones (well there was this one older lady that would serve you the strongest drink of your life whether you told her you were driving or not but other than that), to fine dining. Beyond impressed! This place is BEAUTIFUL and I don't know how they did it, but it doesn't have that smell anymore. And anyone that has been there in the past knows exactly what I'm talking about. Kinda like your grandmother's basement after a flood from 15 years ago that no one probably cleaned up. Yeah you know the smell. The short ribs were gorgeous, the reduction was perfect and the wild mushroom au gratin was heavenly. NY strip was perfectly tender, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I'm never surprised anymore when a restaurant forgets what "medium" actually is. Sadly, I'm at the point where I'm surprised when they get it right. Pleasantly, but still surprised. This place, definitely gets my vote when I go to Freeport to spoil myself. If you haven't gone here yet, you're doing it wrong.

It took a few minutes to be seated, since no one was manning the reception station. Apparently that's waitstaff's job - when they're not doing 100 other things. This is an oversight on the restaurant's part and something I pointed out to the manager. Once we were seated though, our experience blossomed into something really wonderful. Neither my mother nor I ordered appetizers.... Since we figured that lunch would be enough (it was). They don't serve bread or crackers or anything as a gratuity - which is probably a cost-saving as well as time-saving measure. It also forces you into buying one of their "small plates" (appetizers), which looked wonderful but were also quite pricey. We also didn't order alcohol- which probably saved us between $30 and $50, since their cocktails were $15 and upwards. Same is true with their wines. Appealing but pricey. I ordered the beef short rib entree ($38) (see attached photo) with a small Caesar salad and their wild mushroom ragout. The beef was some of the best I've ever had. It was fork-tender, juicy, and flavorful in ways that are hard to describe. As for the wild mushroom ragout.... It was cheesy and delicious, but lacked any visible mushroom. I told our waitress so and I hope she passed it on to the chef. My mother ordered their Grilled salmon, served on a bed of cranberry quinoa and topped with an avocado sauce that was amazing (see photo). ($41). The food was so good that there was no hope of taking any home. We wiped out everything! (See photo) We hard coffee with our meal and with taxes and tip, the bill came to $118. Well worth it for such a fabulous meal. We'll go back, but with my father and eldest daughter in tow next time!!

We ordered the daily special, a beef brisket with celery root/potato mash and brisket filled ravioli with a truffle cream sauce. The ravioli was the winner here for me - I would bottle up that truffle cream sauce and sell it. I love that they kept a good portion of the original framework of the building - it adds to the romantic touch to the rustic interior. The seafood combo was definitely generous in portion size--there was a lot of food--but unfortunately, quantity couldn't make up for the lack of quality. The haddock was dry and completely lacked flavor. The scallops were overcooked and tough, and the shrimp were tiny and tasted like frozen, pre-packaged shrimp. Even the onion rings were disappointing--they were overly greasy, and the batter had virtually no seasoning or flavor. The lobster roll was a decent size, but it also lacked the flavorful taste you'd expect. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't memorable or worth recommending.
