Such a cute place!! Loved the vibe -- super cozy and fun. The canned drinks were actually so good and made it easy to try a few different things. Wished I tried the food or pizza, looked delicious!

Overpriced crappy beers? Here is your jam. Overpriced, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING cocktails? Also your jam. Pick your poison, service was good, vibes were great.

I stopped into Camp Pennant to try one of their draft beers. The bar and restaurant area is very eye appealing and they have small tented type structures above their booths giving it a very camping feel. The menus are handed in a briefing folder! Super good draft beer and cocktail selection and a very friendly bar staff. I didn't try the food but they have an amazing oven for pizza. Definitely worth a trip in if visiting downtown Portland.

If someone were to ask me where to sit outside on a hot day with views of Portland's working waterfront (the real version, not the romantic version), a satisfying cocktail, attentive service, and a fun atmosphere: I think Camp Pennant is it! We visited right after lunch, and were able to snag "the best seat in the house" (according to our server) on the back patio watching the lobster boats come in. We had a couple of drinks, and where I think they shine is the House Cocktails. The names are on theme and delicious, for example: Camp Crush (vodka, midori, white wine, cucumber, ginger, lemon - "very cute, but IDK if I should say something") and Friendship Bracelet (bourbon, maple, pine liqueur, gentian amarao, bitters, lemon, vegan foam - "get ready to make your real life best friend jealous"). Looking *specifically* for a really solid tropical drink? Try Bunk Buddies (rum, orange, lemon, passionfruit, coconut, honey, aromatic bitters - "we know they said 'lights out' but we're not tired yet") and No Pain, No Gain (a mocktail made with coconut cream, pineapple, passionfruit, honey, island spices). Neither are as sweet as you think, both are so flavorful, and they can be made without honey if you're vegan. Segue... And that's what would prevent me personally from coming back: there's not a whole lot to eat here if you *are* vegan. The focus is wood-fired pizza, I think. And maybe seafood? There's a charcuterie board, oven roasted veggies with anchovy sauce, and, of course, the ever iconic warm pretzel with beer cheese and hot mustard that's been a part of every iteration of this business. I thought maybe there'd be more interesting and playful twists on camp food (elevated trail mix, flavored popcorn, some kind of roast jacket potato), but only the dessert - a HUGE portion of brownies sitting on graham cracker dust and topped with toasted marshmallow - is. Segue one more time... The whole theme here is supposed to be adult summer camp, and while the interior decor hints at that, it for sure could be much more immersive and even experiential. The space feels like Infiniti got a makeover to Liquid Riot which got a makeover to Camp Pennant (and if you've been in Portland a while, you know what I mean). For me, this is a pass, but I think other folks are going to like it.

We stopped by for a late lunch/early afternoon snack. The bartender was very friendly. My wife got the Touch Grass cocktail, and she enjoyed it. I got a tasting of their liquors; I tried their gin and their three whiskeys. All were pretty good. I liked their rye the most, their bourbon the second best, their single malt third, and gin at the end. That mostly matches up with my preferences in general, except for normally I prefer to bourbon to rye, so that's a testament to their rye. My wife and I also split a Hefeweizen, which was good as well. It was a bit more bubble-gum-esque than banana-esque, but good. While we enjoyed our drinks, we got a warm pretzel which comes with cheese and mustard. The pretzel was a good texture (doughy in the middle and crunchy on the outside) and had the right amount of salt. The cheese was decent, and the mustard was excellent; the horseradish in there had a nice kick. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that they were completely out of all three salads, and that is something we had wanted in addition to a pretzel when we originally came, so we still had to go grab food afterwards.

Great drinks, great beer and cocktail selection. Super friendly service. We got a bottle of Mezcal to go. Gorgeously shady view of the harbor and dudes working on their boats. Unique atmosphere. 5/5 would recommend.

We stopped in for a few drinks since we wanted a spot with a view. So glad we found Camp Pennant! Nice place to sit outside and look at the boats, the decoration inside was super cool (feels like a summer camp), and our drinks were good (a cocktail and a beer)

After selling the business Liquid Riot has closed and Camp Pennant has taken its place. Despite only being a soft open I have positive thoughts and think they'll do well. To be honest Liquid Riot almost always disappointed with service or just other annoyances that made it hard to return. Thankfully even in their first day of a soft open the staff were friendly and welcoming with smiles and seemed happy to be there. It felt like they were all happy with the change of name and vibe. Speaking of vibe, as you could guess from the name, they are going for a summer camp vibe and they do it solidly. Through the beer names, to the decorations, and the overall aesthetics they transport you back to summer camp. Thankfully there is no awkward talent show or kickball tournament where you make a fool of yourself. Also the best part is this summer camp serves cocktails and beer! Due to soft opening they don't have their full food menu, pizza oven not ready yet and we only tried their soft pretzel but that with the beer cheese was very good! Look forward to returning for pizza and more beer! Hoping for good things at this place!

Came on a rainy day with the kids and our dog. Never fear they have a enclosed patio that is dog friendly! We had about 4 pizzas and soda and beer. No research just a spur of the moment decision and boy what s find, we will definitely be back! Only had two beers but both were very good and sans kids we will go back for a mre through sampling ASAP.

Stopped here the other day for dinner and drinks. It's in the old location of liquid riot. They didn't do much renovation but did put up some tents and things. Overall it is cute in there. I got a cocktail and it was really good but a little pricey. We also got pizza be a pretzel and it was good but not amazing. Overall good concert but hopefully they do a little more with their menu.

Camp Pennant is SO fun. Think: summer camp for adults (booze included). The entire place is camp-themed (teepee tents over indoor seating, life vests and camp pennants as decor, appropriate menu items like the S'mores dessert, pictured here). We ordered two drinks: No Pain No Gain, a mocktail with coconut cream, pineapple, passion fruit, and honey, which tasted exactly like a liquid piña colada, and Bunk Buddies, a tropical cocktail with rum, citrus, and passion fruit. Both were amazing! We also got the Pretzel with beer cheese and mustard (5 stars), AND the ooey gooey s'mores dessert (chocolate cake pieces with burnt marshmallow atop graham cracker crumbs). To top it all off, they have a fantastic view on the patio of the wharf and the Bay, and very attentive and friendly service. Can't wait to be back!

Went here for a little dinner and drinks for the first time after hearing about it. You're greeted with an amazing summer camp environment. The booths are set up as little tents and the seats are very cool. They also have some great outdoor seating options too. We got the threat level midnight and the bunk buddies for drinks! The threat level midnight had such an interesting flavor to it but in a great way. And the bunk buddies was very tasty and fun. Was surprised by the cocktails here! For food we got the pretzel which was nice and warm and I loved the dipping sauces it came with. We also got a cheese pizza and the marina pizza. The pizza looked great and the they tasted pretty good too. They certainly aren't the best pizza I've had in town but there was nothing wrong with them. The prices are average too so nothing to complain about. We had a good time here and it's definitely a pretty fun environment and would recommend it if you're looking to have some pretty solid drinks and good food in the afternoon!

The service was great and the view from our seats on the back porch was the best. We just happened upon this place on our walk so we stopped in. They have some great cocktails along with their beers.

I should have just checked on Yelp since one of my Yelp friends gave this five stars! I have to concur because I stopped her with my co-worker and my husband for a couple of beers and have to say two things: 1) they have a great beer list that rotates frequently, 2) the bartenders are top notch. You know sometimes you go to a cool beer place and it seems like the bartenders want to do ANYTHING but actually give you a beer in exchange for cash? This place is the opposite and it's wonderful. Very helpful with the beer list, suggestions, tastes, etc. They are also quick to offer another beer where as some places it seems like pulling teeth to try to get a beverage. It was lively but not slammed when I was there but I can tell these guys would manage great even if the bar was two or three deep with customers. Yeah, I thing the Mash Tun is one of the best beer bars I've been to and in a place like Portland that is in the top echelon of beer cities, that is an achievement to respect.

Several more visits since my last review…read more Some things haven't changed: -- The beers are still great. Swish, Here's to Feeling Good All the Time, Nothing Gold, and Reciprocal are a formidable foursome. At any given time, you can usually get at least two, more often three, sometimes all four. -- You'd be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a better smashburger in Portland, but I'd also put it up against any regularly-offered burger I've had in Portland--smashed or otherwise. I love everything about it, from the high caliber of the beef to the fresh pillowy milk bun to the exhilaratingly strong cure of the bacon to the razor-thin cutting of the vegetables to the execution that gets even a smashburger burger juicy. -- I'm still not crazy about the wings. They have a frozen dinner feel to them. A few things, though, have changed: -- Full service now instead of having to order everything at the bar. That's a plus. -- The place is much more crowded-- including screaming tykes-- on the weekends. Not a plus, but can't fault a place for its own popularity. -- The fries are now the industrial strength coated kind. A big minus and a sad drop off from prior greatness, but better that than from an item off the main cast. -- You can now order beer cans to go from the table rather than having to get in line. A nice convenience. A few things to know: -- It's a surprisingly good option for vegetarians and pescatarians. The veggie burger and the grilled fish sandwich are both much more than solid. -- There's outdoor seating in front of the building and also to the right. -- The bar room to the right of the entrance is adults only, so if those screaming tykes get on your nerves, this is the place to be. -- You can still order beer at the bar if that's your preference over table service. Still a favorite, and the combo of beer, food, and space is tough to beat (Mast Landing and Maine Beer in Freeport are also somewhere in that echelon).

As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!

In the courtyard you choose which way to go; right heads into the outside beer garden and left brings you inside the brewery and gift shop. Beer garden for us. Seeing that it was covered by a tent thought for sure it was going to be cold inside , we were pleasantly surprised! Decor was paper chains and tissue paper hearts for Valentine's season. They had a creative station for folks to make their own Valentines. Also in the same area was a game bookshelf filled with board and card games to play. At the bar was a young man smiling as he welcomed us. We read the menu and for something different I chose "Cabin Weekend" the name reminded me of our camp in the Western mountains. We both enjoy whiskey so thought the aged barrels used for this brew would make a tasty treat. Grabbed our beers and then over to the food truck attached to the tent, clever. Bite into Maine is the food truck here today, unsure if different trucks come here or not. We wanted something small and shareable. Mac and cheese it was. We sat down at one of the many empty tables and began to enjoy our beers and food. Cabin weekend was so delicious! It was a strong onto 8.9%! Tasty with the faintest hint of whiskey and a cabin feel for the finish. The Mac and cheese was dense and rich!! The fork could practically stand upon its own! It was good in my opinion however don't think I could have finished the portion in my own. We enjoyed so much we will be back for some to bring away with us to our cabin in the woods.
