After reading a beautifully written feature on The Good Table in Down East Magazine, we finally felt inspired to go. This spot had been on our list since moving to Maine, and it felt like the perfect time. We booked same-day reservations for brunch and ended up having one of the best brunches we've ever had in Maine. From the food to the service and the cozy ambiance, everything was perfect; so much so that I bought a gift card before we left because I knew we'd want to come back soon. The brunch menu isn't huge, but it had just the right amount of variety. I ordered the croissant French toast, and my husband went for the burger. Both were incredible. After my first bite, I turned to him and said, "I don't think I've had French toast until now"--it was that good. The cranberry compote on top was *chef's kiss*. My husband's burger was cooked to perfection l. The coffee was amazing, served in the cutest little cup that made me feel like I was at a cabin-themed restaurant tucked in the mountains. The staff kept refilling it without us ever needing to ask. Our Bloody Marys were just as impressive. Everything about the experience; from the warm, attentive service to the inviting, homey vibe of the restaurant; made it feel extra special, especially on a chilly day. I can't believe it took us this long to visit The Good Table. I already can't wait to go back.

I stopped in for a solo lunch. Such a sweet place with great food. Gotta love outdoor seating as well!

Food was okay. Ordered the vegetable pasta first and really did not enjoy. Then ordered fish and chips and for a classic dish couldn't go wrong. Others ordered the halibut and asked for it to be blackened which was delicious so wish I ordered that instead. The strip steak was also a good a choice.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary. We were greeted with well wishes from the staff and a glass of Prosecco. Service was amazing all around. We had the Kale Salad, Crab Cake, Halibut, Mac'n Cheese, and Mashed potatoes. The star of the show was the halibut but everything was amazingly simple and delicious. Wish we could have explored more of the menu.

Wowowow. We tried The Good Table for dinner last night and it was incredible! The burger was perfection, especially with the side of mac. We had a lovely server, and the whole team was very attentive and friendly. A pleasant surprise was the view through the back windows, which made it feel like you're tucked away in the woods. We can't wait to go back. PS: you need the rolls.

The brussel/kale caeser is amazing! I also enjoyed the rib eye special. I love sitting at the bar and watching the bartender whip up cocktails. Our service was excellent, and I find the staff very welcoming.

TGT Burger and in the back the pork chop!

She was handling a room full of people, including a very large party, all by herself and was gooooooooooood at it. She made my martini extra filthy dirty; she had all the answers for all our questions. For me, there's not much of an atmosphere or vibe or ambiance. It feels like it's catering to an older crowd who doesn't need that, just a place they can have a drink off peninsula and be a little loud about it. It's definitely not a destination spot for anyone looking up "12/24/48 hours in Portland, ME" so if you want to avoid those tourists altogether, this would be a safe spot. Also, if you're vegan, there's not really much to eat. I mean, there's olives, but they're purple (and, I don't know, but I think the green ones are always better)!

Our server, Tina, was fantastic--attentive and quick, making sure we had everything we needed. The wine was delicious, and the appetizers were just as impressive. We tried the scallops and a mushroom pâté, which was absolutely amazing--true standouts. This is a cozy, intimate spot with a short but quality menu, making it ideal for a quiet weekday meal if you're craving something homemade and comforting.

The inside has a great vibe to it, and even though it was super busy we got our drinks and food pretty fast. Had a great selection of beers and wines for whatever your taste pallet may be. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu, especially the gramma slice which looked delicious.

Everything is self-serve: you get your own water and cutlery, order at the front, and they bring the food out to you. We ordered the "weird little salad" for $10 and two pepperoni pizzas for $18 each, one with a hot honey add-on (additional $2). I didn't love the "weird little salad," since it was a strange clash of flavors of textures (perhaps as advertised?), but my main gripe is that it was extremely tiny, basically the size of a ring dish, barely enough for one person. We enjoyed the pizza, which was on the oilier side but yummy. Overall, though, we left the place feeling underwhelmed. For two pizzas and a tiny bit of salad, the bill came out to over $60, which felt like a lot given the casual barstool seating and the lack of sit-down service. For a quick bite in a time crunch, maybe I'd come back again, but otherwise, I'll probably stick to Portland's many other great offerings.

Enjoyed dinner here on a Thursday evening in early October…read more Definitely suggest making reservations as they are not a large establishment and seem to attract locals and tourists. (BTW... menu changes often so what we ordered may not be available again.) The server recommended 2 plates person but the 3 of us were not super-duper hungry so we opted for just 4 plates. It turned out to be just the right amount. Mind you.... we picked the 3 larger portion plates and 1 smaller one.... so that was plenty for us. We went for the Halibut, Lobster Pasta, Pork and the Mussels. The Mussels were the Star. That curry sauce that the mussels were swimming in was Magic! So good that we all asked for spoons and more bread so we could lap it up. The pasta was unctuous... and oh so sinfully delicious. There was a hint of heat from the Calabrian chili which offset the richness of the dish. The pork was tender and flavorful... and the blueberries gave it a fun twist so that you had a Sweet and Savory thing going on. The halibut was thick and meaty... and the rice/paella that it was sitting on .... chef's kiss. Everything was superb. I thought the dishes were creative and not 'run of the mill' safe. We also opted for mocktails since we were driving. They have some fun, creative ones and I'm sorry I did not get a picture of the menu. Ambiance was what I like to call upscale casual/cozy. It's not a diner but it's not white tablecloth fancy. The low-ish lighting and retro contemporary decor give off a "sit back, dine and enjoy" vibe. The seating arrangements were comfortable for us to chit chat the night away. Highly recommend coming here.... and if I didn't live on the other side of the US... I'd be here again in a heartbeat. NOTE... and this is what drew me in... Female Owned and James Beard Semi Finalist.

The Fore Street entrance takes you upstairs to the main dining room, while the Wharf Street entrance brings you downstairs to the lively brick tavern. The menu is mainly made up of small, shareable dishes that put a modern, elevated spin on American fare with European and Asian influences. It changes, which keeps things interesting. There's a little bit of everything, from fries to tuna crudo and bone marrow toast. I enjoy seeing what they have on the menu each time I visit. The cocktails are great, too, and having Japanese whisky available is definitely a bonus for me. Overall Service: I haven't had a bad experience here. My favorites were the fried fish dish with polenta and the spicy beef salad, but everything was delicious and creatively put together. The suckling pig was probably the only thing that was a bit underwhelming and even that was good. My husband loved the bread and butter dish and we had to get seconds! One note is that though the blueberry corn tres leches was a really great well balanced dessert, it wasn't actually tres leches because it wasn't moist/saturated with milk at all. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.
